  • After managing to break our Bosch dishwasher, it's time to learn how to fix it. In this video we will show you how and explain why this fault code occurs in the first place. This can be done without the need to tilt the machine back so you shouldn't even need to remove the dishwasher if you have a built in unit.
You will need: A torx t20 bit (not a t5 as you'll hear in the video), and probably some towels.

This video was exactly what I needed. Like you said, I saw a lot of videos talking about tilting the machine 45° but with this video, not only did I get the disc area dried out, I didn't even have to dismount the dishwasher from under my countertops!
As a bonus, I also got to clean out the innards of dust and gunk, along with some pieces of shrink-wrap that the installers didn't remove from the sides.

So many helpful videos are either incomplete or don't completely apply to the thing thing that you need to fix. Upon arrival home my wife had experienced the E:15 and found this video. At first I assumed that it would be just another half attempt at a fix. However, I watched it. I followed it. We did what it said we should do and, pretty well, it covered absolutely everything. Yes, there was liquid in the tray. Yes, the foam pad was wet. Both have been dried. Everything has been inspected and the error code has gone. Let's hope it continues to stay away. Thank you for you video. It was a tremendous help.

Just fixed my machine thanks to this video. No unnecessary fluff to bulk the video out just all the information I needed. Thank-you. I should mention that I thought you had a really tiny hands as I couldn't get mine onto the float or plug. I then realised I have a small kitchen and the slimline version of the machine so all the components are packed really tight!! All pretty much the same otherwise.

Thank you so much for saving us a huge headache! Turns our dishwasher is installed such that it cannot be removed, so any tilting advice were not even possible to execute. This totally worked and dishes are now washing again! 👍

This is a great video that helps you get to the root cause of the E15 error code. If you simply do nothing else except tilt your dishwater 45° to clear the code by draining the float reservoir, the error code will likely come back as per this video's title. In my case, after I drained the dishwasher base with a wet vac I saw my problem: the water inlet valve was leaking where the solenoid is attached to the plastic body. I don't know what other dishwasher brands have this type of leak detection, but after watching this video and tearing apart my dishwasher to see how it works, I now have a new respect for my Bosch dishwasher - this ingenious design saves your floors from possible water damage.
Much thanks to Sawickipedia for the effort to create and post this video!

Amazing, fixed our Neff N30 dishwasher. I used a ring doorbell short orange screwdriver and the hex end. There was just enough room to remove the 2 lower panel screws without having to take the door off, that saved a bit of time. Thanks for the detailed video. 👍

A mouse had eaten the polystyrene float so I actually fashioned a new one. The step by step instructions was the only way that this was going to be fixed. The repair guys I spoke to just suggested buying a new machine. It took me several hours to get it sorted out but the dishwasher lives another day, hopefully several years. Many thanks!

Thanks for posting the fix for this fault. I Repaired my Siemens dishwasher in next to no time this morning by following your simple step by step instructions. Although there was water ingress under the polystyrene disc I couldn’t find any leaks after running a cycle. I’ve come to the conclusion that it may be down to opening the dishwasher door to add a forgotten plate or cup when a cycle is running allowing water to drip down from the door under the machine and into the polystyrene disc space. Thanks again buddy saved me shed loads of expensive call out charges.

Thanks for an excellent guide to fixing this error code! I cleaned out the water in mine and ran it for a while with the covers off to make sure nothing was leaking, all good. I also gave the filters and seals a good clean so the dishwasher is like new again!

Finally someone that gives useful instructions, even the guy I called from the company didn’t do that and just said that I should replace the motherboard. Ridiculous service call that costed me 200$ and didn’t resolve the issue. Now trying to find the leak, but at least looking at the real issue. Thank you so much.

I couldn't seem to unclip the switch above the polystyrene disc, and didn't want to break it, but was able to sponge up the water in the base of the unit which also drained it from under the disc. This still did the trick and saved a technician call-out. Thanks for posting this.

Great video thanks. I had the E15 fault after repairing the heat exchanger valve. Water had gone into the sump and actuated the polystyrene float. One tip which I found useful when putting the door back on. I held those clear plastic lugs in position using double sided tape. Worked a treat especially when working alone.

Thank you so much for your help. After multiple E15 errors (and tilting *gasp!*) I put aside some time and I think we've solved the problem thanks to this video. Lots of liquid in that base area under the polystyrene disc so cleaned that up and ran a cycle before closing it up. All seems to be going well so thank you. Have donated since you've saved me a much larger call out charge. All the best.

I work for Bosch you never want to tilt unit at all that water can travel to your power module and burnt it out. Also E15 are a leakage issue could be on your water valve, sump or drain pump or possibly have a crack in tub by clean out the water from the float will remove the Error but not solve issue of why and where unit is leaking water. To find out easy way add some food coloring inside dishwasher and run it and look for leak. DO NOT TILT UNIT OVER for E15

    • @specialke1
      @specialke1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +33

@@dannytgallant, @John Byrd, @Sawickipedia and others : In Europe, this issues is well known with all Bosh/Siemens/... units from this series. I've been fighting this problem for a good year till I found the real reason. The problem is the gasket of the sump pump which leaks after a while. Tilting/cleaning/drying ... it will NOT be a permenant solution as it doesn't fix the leak itself. Trying to disable the water detection switch in any fashion can result in potentially lethal conditions (water + exposed mains power leads = recipe for disaster).
Siemens at least (same unit as the Bosh and a couple of others) have fully acknowledged this problem. It's really widespread as these companies have build numerous units of this identical design for YEARS. There's an official fix kit for it available, which is essentially big hollow O-ring which fits inbetween the sump pump assembly and the bottom water sink assembly of the dishwasher, and which you can mount without disassembling the units too much, it can be installed from the inside of the machine even : removing 4 screws, push the sump pump about 1cm down, insert the new (extra) O ring which will sit in between the sump pump assembly and the "sink hole" assembly of the dishwahser at the bottom, pushing that 0 ring completely against the wall of the sump pump assembly opening (it's a perfect fit, so it ends up being a perfect circle once fully in position) retighten the 4 (NEW) screws which come with the kit and "voila", never will leak again. On some units, you'd need to cut 2 to 3 "noses" or "side ridges" from the back side screw mount points to make it fit correctly, but that's well explained in the kit manual and takes like 5 seconds.
The kit itself costs about 20€ over here and can be installed in less than 10 minutes. You don't even need to remove the dishwasher from its location : I installed this kit a year ago without even removing it out of the kitchen cabinet and ever since, it never leaked a single drop on the inside, and E15 is something of the past while in all my other repair attempts the error would return after 2 to 3 months the latest.
That's the only way to fix these units permanantly (short of replacing the problematic original gasket, a job which involves taking apart the unit to a big extend and would result in a much more expensive repair bill), all other "solutions" are no solution at all in my experience with these units.
Link to a (German) video documenting the correct repair procedure : th-cam.com/video/fE7XW_PA09E/w-d-xo.html

My dinner party could have been ruined - got this F15 fault and imagined £150 charge for call out and fix or buying a new machine. Would have been bad timing as this one is built in and we're about to replace our kitchen. Followed the advice and fixed it within an hour. This was particularly useful as ours is built in and I couldn't have even tried the pull out and tip methodology which I guess wouldn't have worked anyway. Thanks very much for your very helpful and accurate video. I can hear her purring away now !

Brilliant video saved me a fortune in domestic engineer fees. Only think I would add is after drying out the flood tray make sure to dry the entire tray as I assumed the tray under the styrene was all that was required to dry out but the flood tray is the entire area which catches water and feeds into the bowl which houses the styrene.

You're most welcome Scott. When the error came up the first thing suggested by most people was to tilt the machine back to fix it, but that doesn't explain why it occured in the first place. So this video was (hastily) created to show what is actually going on and hopefully help people find the root of the problem. Our machine hasn't missed a beat since.

We apparently ran out of dishwasher tabs this morning. I found out when I came home from shopping that I had an E15 code. My teenage son thought he could use dish detergent as a substitute because he "checked the internet". Hopefully he learns the lesson to ask someone for advice first. I found your video and showed it to my husband. We have a small Bosch dishwasher (not a full size) so it was too tight to get the styrofoam disk moved. We used Norwex cloths to suck up the water. We did tilt it forward slightly when I was sopping it up with the cloth to try and absorb it all but then we figured to use a Tupperware citrus peeler to lift the disk and stuff pieces of paper towel to sop up what was left.
Thank you for you video. Very helpful and saved us a huge headache with trying to get a repairman to come.

Just tried this, it has worked! Thank you. Just got to see if it happens again, as I'm not sure why the water was there in the first place, couldn't see anything obvious. One thing that I did have to do was tip the dishwasher slightly backwards to get the kick plate off (on the Advantixx it's held on by two catches around each front foot)

Brilliant! I can barely handle a screwdriver yet managed to do this on a half-sized Bosch. Since I could barely reach the part that needed to have water soaked out of it, even with my little hands, after soaking up most of the water, I lifted then propped up the styrofoam piece with half a wooden skewer and left a fan on it for several hours. That dried it out. Works perfectly!!!!!

this is a very helpful, concise and clear demonstration! I think it's super important to also do a full clean of the units internals at the same time, especially around the door seals. Accumulation of gunk around the lower seal will compromise seal integrity and potentially allow water to leak into the lower compartment. Oh and watch that metal plate when removing! Its sharp!

Removed front cover, black floor plate, lower silver cover plate, and insulation. Reached in and Popped off float sensor, removed disk, paper toweled up the little water present, replaced disk and sensor. Ran a cycle to watch for leaks... no leaks. Probably sinks were closed / drainage impacted while run last?
Closed up after cycle completed successfully. Wonderful!

Thank you so much for this video. I changed the drain pump and I got a little bit of water on the bottom of the dishwasher then it said E15 thank god I didn’t put it back together yet. Thanks again.

Cheers mate. Great vid that is very easy to follow. Issue solved in 6.51 minutes. And even if I get the error code again, it’s an easy repeat or I know where to start looking for a bigger issue.

Very grateful for your video, mate. Though mine is built-in, once I figured out how to remove the right panels, inside it was just as you described.
Mopping out the pool of water restored functions.
Water in the sump was deep yellow, but in answer to other queries, this looks to be due to some of the soundproofing material dropping down and getting soaked, probably at the back. Mine was to a height of 1/2 inch. I squeezed it out in situ and wedged it up off the floor of the bottom tray.
Thanks again. Nicely made how to video.

Thanks so much,. Found the problem. Not a water leak. A mouse nest. Chewed up the float as well. Stuffed the hole in back with steel wool to stop them getting in again. But will need to get a new float. 😅. Thanks again, you save me $$$ and time. 2 weeks wait for repair man.

I this error code recently and thankfully it helped alert me that my water inlet valve was leaking. I got a new valve for $20, pulled the unit out and had it replaced in less than a half hour. I’m thankful for the float that notified me. I can’t imagine working so hard to defeat this safety system.
