Daniel is a hoot! He’s right; the panettone makes superb French toast! We have it for Christmas brunch every year. It was such a treat seeing all the pretty desserts, and you’ve made me want to try some. I’m not a fan of mince pie at all, but the others are intriguing. That chocolate confection at the end looks divine! And Mary! You saucy wench! 😜
This was the funniest episode ever. Enjoyed it that much as you both did. Thank you for sharing it with us. And thanks for all your inspirational and calming videos.
You two are too funny. Totally unrehearsed and so cute...much more fun than the book review. The only thing missing was your cat who likes to join in. Nice to be able to laugh out loud and to have someone to laugh with. I laud you both ~ Next week Mary. Thank you for your happy video.
OMG ! Mary, You are hysterical together! 😂 Your husband likes any dessert you put in front of him and that accent, hair and bow tie! Wow! I went and got my husband to watch too! It is truly a joy to tune in every Friday to see what’s up your sleeve to entertain us! In addition, I love Juliska glassware- the review was wonderful as always!
Hi Mary! I truly enjoyed the book review. However, your dessert test tasting with your handsome husband was so delightful and funny! I couldn't stop giggling and laughing. My word...."I haven't been tickled lately!" Sooo cute. Your husband is absolutely adorable and charming! He should be on television. 😂
Well you’ve certainly made me laugh! How wonderful! You’ve made me hungry also! Thank you for sharing and all your delicious deserts looked scrumptious! You and your hubby are a hoot❣️
That was fun Mary and Daniel. Thank you for the laughter and simple silliness. All you needed was candle light and it would've romanced it up. Love the bow tie Daniel!!! Mary, love the presentation of the book as well. I've always admired a well dressed table. When I was a little girl growing up in the late 60's, early 70's, I LOVED helping my grandmother set a beautiful table for dinner. She had individual salt and pepper shakers for each place setting and a large dining room. My grandparents lived in a generational home with 7 bedrooms. It was so elegant with pocket doors, push button light switches, built in china cupboards and the most slippery hardwood floors you can imagine. Setting a table always reminds me of those days with my grandmother. I look forward to more of your fun videos.
What a fun video! I wait for Christmas to get a nice Panetone as my holiday guilty pleasure. I love it toasted in the morning with butter and a nice cappuccino!!!!!! Love the treat upstairs line..... hilarious! You obviously have a very comfortable relationship.
The table settings in the book were lovely. It was such great fun to meet your husband and watch the two of you interact so playfully. He truly seemed to enjoy himself. Thx for sharing your delightful taste-testing marathon.
Where do i begin....the book was beautiful, all the desserts were heavenly but the highlight was you and your hubby ❤!! The fun spontaneous bantering was epic ......." that's were fruit goes to die" best food line ever 😂😂😂!!!! I hope to see more of you both as the gourmet duo ❤!!!!
What a treat…mostly watching the two of you tasting, and commenting, on all those desserts. I laughed & laughed. A much needed lift! Thank you both. In my minds eye I just burst out laughing thinking of Daniel picking up & eating things he finds in the yard! I know I’ll be laughing thinking of this for a long while.
How funny and enjoyable was this?! Together (really together ... smile) at the Table was so much fun! We thoroughly enjoyed spending some time with your husband and enjoying watching the desserts on parade review! What a wonderful sense of humor and fun the two of you share, we loved it!
When you said, “He tastes things he finds in the yard”, absolutely hysterical! This was a fabulous video, you and Daniel are the perfect compliment to each other.♥ Please consider presenting another tasting, it was a great idea!🌟
You are both too cute! You're an optimist Mary, you saved what you thought would be your favorite for last. I think your husband was on a sugar high by the end😅
Not only I enjoyed your book selection but also watching such a happy couple. Your husband loved trying all those sweets without counting calories !! If you are ordering German Stollen next Christmas try it with marzipan. It's really delicious. This was a fun video. Thank you.
Oh my goodness!!!😂😂😂 Where do I begin???? When I return from my local ER due to hysterical, breathless laughter, I shall leave a respectable comment! Until then, Mary, now we know what was behind the “the marriage should be canceled” comment in the outtakes video some months ago!😂😂😂 Excellent book review as always! 🏝💚
@@thetartantopiary for better or worse, we did it to ourselves with the greatest of expectations, but oh the humor! I can’t imagine a home without our kind of laughter!!!😘🏝💚
You and your husband had a fun time taste testing! It was fun to watch you interact , and I enjoyed the banter back and forth. I also found the comments about the desserts helpful.
Panettone is a typical Milanese dessert we serve at Christmas often accompanied with a fresh made cream made of mascarpone ( kind of soft creamy cheese) eggs, sugar and liquor ( mainly Marsala produced in Sicily) . Panettone stays fresh in its package for a long time and now young people like to consume it even in summer on the beach with sparkling white wine ( bollicine)🇮🇹🤓
Later, I did make a lite butter/cream icing for it. That put it over the top good. Thanks for the information. I love your first hand knowledge of this dessert!
I have never left a comment. (Though I do look forward and enjoy each of your videos) This one was refreshing funny! I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. Thank you!
OoOooh that was soo much fun to watch -you two play off each other so well Mary you are the perfect straight man to Daniel’s comedic nature 🥰 thank you !
Great vlog! What fun! Enjoyed you and Daniel's sharing your taste testing of Holiday desserts around the world with us. They all looked absolutely delish, but especially the Sacre Torte.
@@thetartantopiary Shame on you Mary for making me now want to try the decadent sacre torte. It is absolutely a show stopper. WoW! Were you able to post the link to where we can order one? Re: the Edwards Pecan Pie, I grew up with the Edwards family at my church in Atlanta. Know them very well. The fabulous pie is from an old Atlanta Pecan Pie recipe. You always bring such helpful and wonderful ideas to your vlog. I always look forward to Fridays, because of you Mary. Right now, I am taste testing various teas. That was really awesome video you guys are so funny. The Pantone you can also toast it for breakfast, especially after starts to dry ( for some reason it does) my mother told me toast it it’s just as good and she was right. Thank you for sharing all the desserts. 😊

That was so much fun to watch! Y’all should do more videos together! We make Panettone French Toast at Christmas & Easter! I highly recommend trying it!
Lovely book again this week, beautiful table shapes. I must say the Victoria book from the week before Christmas traditions was my favourite. That was funny watching you and your husband doing the dessert tasting. I like to toast lightly the panettone and spread with some good creamy butter for holiday breakfasts, it does make a really good bread pudding. Being from England 🇬🇧 originally I was amused by your comments on the mince pies and Christmas pudding, the mince pies taste better being warm with a cup of tea and the Christmas pudding is much better heated up and served with brandy butter or a hot custard sauce. It's very heavy though and a small portion is sufficient. Living in Germany for a few years too the pastries, cakes and fruit breads are much better than the imports. Well it was fun to watch you both. Take good care until next week.
Had so much fun watching this with MY husband! What a great idea to taste test from around the world!! Also loved the beautiful ideas for table settings from the book!! I need to do more of that…. Looking forward to next weeks video!!

THAT! That was absolutely entertaining! "that is where fruit goes to die" bwaaaaahahaha! I enjoyed this very much! Your hubby Daniel is so cute, y'all are like a comedy team. I bet y'all are a lot of fun for your friends and family at a party. The book was very inspiring too. Thank you for this! I love trying imported foods too. One year, I watched a holiday show by Nigella Lawson, and then absolutely had to try Lychee fruit, and also Marrons Glaces or candied chestnuts. Both were yummy! I used to take Panettone and make a trifle with it, mainly because it looks so pretty in my Trifle bowl. My family, sticklers for old traditions and not being fans of raisins, prefer Banana Pudding though, so I haven't done that in several years. Many years back I tried to make a traditional fruit cake too; made weeks ahead and slathered with brandy once a week for several weeks just as the recipe required. My family hated it. But I have purchased several fruit cakes in the tin from Colin Street Bakery in Corsicana, TEXAS, and they are always well received even by my picky family.
