Overcome the challenge of matching high-sensitivity loudspeakers with subwoofers. Get that seamless transition where you don't even know there are subs in the system until you turn them off, and everything just flattens out.
At dB sensitivities in the high 90s and even three digits, Klipsch loudspeakers can be a challenge to match with subwoofers. They get loud with so little amplifier power, that high-level inputs on the sub struggle to get a decent signal. Watch the video and find out how REL Acoustics Serie HT gets around this issue.

The AV sub tip is GOLD...I have the entry level Yamaha AV receiver with an AR 8" powered sub. I "thought" the sub sounded good but I tried your tip turning the receiver's X over all the way up and fine tuned the bass with the sub's X over......WOW.....it sounds VASTLY BETTER. I thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, Mike James, Regina, Sk Canada

But do you select LFE on the sub still? Doesn't that bypass the subs crossover knob? And if you dont select LFE, it is only 2 channel and your surrounds and center are full output with no sub crossover??

Man this guy is all over the place I've never had a problem setting up subs with the main full range speakers by ear but I have to have two subs in stereo for music or it will ever sound good enough to my ears

It would be cool if you could get em in a matching finish to the heritage line.

Well sirs, I have a REL S510 (purchased from U.A.)(I live in TX) paired with a pair of gorgeous Klipsch Belle speakers. And I couldn't love it more. The REL sub ads that finishing low end that the Klipsch speakers have always lacked. MY ONLY complaint is that I don't have room for another one. Thanks John and Kevin!

Such a nice explanation of crossovers. After watching this, I emailed REL for advice on which of their subs to replace my old Triad in room gold subs. Thx

I have got to add these. Will make my purchase right away. I’ve already got the Klipsch Cornwall Fours , matched with a new Decware single ended triode and Audio Research reference 5SE preamp. The Cornwalls already disappear with the room filled with instruments and voices coming from everywhere and, well I don’t really have the words…
So no telling where this will take my system.
    Thanks guys!

I have some homemade Khorns and have them mated to a 12 inch sub in a 3.5 cubic foot box. I had a Dayton audio 300 watt amp and had no problem getting them mated and had plenty of control left to make it louder. The amp went out after 15 years or so so got another Dayton SPA250DSP amp. I have to turn the control up all the way and boost 30 db 6 db in the dsp part of amp to get it to mate but still have 6db more output in Yamaha receiver if I need it. The 12 inch speaker is rated at 88db efficient.

I think that sub crossover tip and receiver crossover all the way up ONLY applies to 2.1(or however many subs) movie watching. If i'm not mistaken, your center and surrounds would NOT be getting a sub crossover setting and running full range as the sub only uses it's crossover for the main L/R speakers. Please correct me if im wrong. LFE bypasses a subs crossover, using your receivers crossover setting. Turning LFE off uses the subs crossover but only for L/R and surrounds get no information other than full range track.

I'm very new to all this so please bare with me. I didn't think LFE bypasses the sub's crossover necessarily, at least not with REL subs. John mentioned somewhere to set it to whatever the highest possible is on the receiver and then adjust the crossover manually on the back of the sub until you hear everything start hitting right. That's how their engineers intended when tuning the crossover.
Regarding the Center speaker and surrounds not getting the sub's crossover, I think it depends. I've seen Rel often talk about running a high level cable from a separate (smaller) Rel sub directly to the center channel

Hi there, I’ve watched a fair few of your posts and I’m thinking about getting a second hand prima Luna premium integrated amp.
You said in one of your posts these amps go very well with the tannoy xt8f speakers.
What prima Luna amp would you recommend of the older models for my speakers please.

I’m still confused as to which connection is best for a REL subwoofer in a 2-channel system. In my case Klipsch Heresy 4’s and a Decware SE84UFO2.1 tube amp - in a room with too many windows and a slightly rug-less hardwood floor. I need subwoofer setup help big time. I’m hoping to make a Black Friday purchase but need a little confidence in the set up of which I have zero experience. Any advice?

Hi, what if you use a single HT1205mk2 sub setup, is it better to use a Y adapter on my single RCA?
I have the music (moe important 4 me) in a good setting but when i watch a movie ist to heavy!

how big of difference between the 1508 and the 1510? i saw that the 1508 is replaced by the 1510 and the only difference is the 1508 has an 800watt amp and the 1510 has a 1000 watt amp. i'm considering getting 2 for my sound system. i have two cornwall 3 speakers for mains and three heresy 3 speakers for center and rears. will the 1508 be sufficient or do i need the 1510?

Wait what!? REL has been telling us to connect high level because it does not take up power from the amplifier and it sounds great. Now the horse says some times the watts are not enough. Really what about the REL just samples the amplifier’s power and it uses none of it.

These subs don’t have high level. They are part of their home theatre line

@@SS-cs6wt yes I have nothing against their sound quality but their integration method is behind the times. A proper highpass makes a big difference. Their are so many budget highpass options too (miniDSP etc). Adding a highpass of some kind is well worth a try.

@@SS-cs6wt Lively cabinet school of design. Thats why they blend with hi resonance sensitive mid tops.
