    Thank you so much for this. I just love your videos. I am 28 and have always struggled with health anxiety, but over the past few years it has got debilitating. I try to mask it but it has taken over my entire life. Will definitely try your techniques

    You two are really wonderful. I've had therapy and no one has ever made me really question why I have health anxiety.
    My mother had severe mental health problems, and when I got meningitis at 2 years old, and sniffles I had after that would send her into a spiral and I'd be rushed to the doctors. I never however worries about my health until after my daughter was born and that's when it set in. Only now realising that I started acting like my mother as my son was diagnosed with autism at 2 and had major surgery at 8 weeks old and so started spiraling after my girl was born. Thank you so much for this video. It's not something I managed to piece together. Feeling like a weight has been lifted already 🖤

    I grew up with a single parent with tons of anxiety. In front of people she seems fine but she doesn't like me leaving her house. It's made me stop forming relationships because I used to get embarrassed of them being harrassed, called and stalked by my anxious parent. I just put my life on hold, took up medication to deal with anger and depression and just accept her illness and become her house sitter. Acceptance is working because it keeps the peace in the home. As long as mom is calm all is well.

    Really good vlog thank you. My main health anxiety is from TV where they say ‘catch things early’ check your body, which I know is important but from that I’m now constantly checking and constantly making notes to show doctor so I don’t miss anything or ignore it and then it’s too late!
    Is there any advice on this? 🦋

    Thank you for this video. I have struggled with health anxiety for 20 years. I had cancer at 17 which no one in my family would ever talk about. However I got a lot of attention for it from people at work and found a lot of positive from this. I also had grandparents who died with no warning when I was 11. My parents don’t like to talk about anything health related and are v panicky about health. Will this anxiety ever leave so I can not feel scared?

      You definitely can fully overcome health anxiety. Therapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy can help, and hope our films here help too.

    I have heath anxiety around my children. When my youngest gets a virus or poorly I get anxiety attacks, even though I understand it’s just a virus and not life threatening. Will your health anxiety book , help someone like me?

    Mine isn’t due to any of these. Mine started once I had my two children. I’m absolutely terrified of leaving them! Terrified! I’m constantly checking myself and giving myself a death sentence! I’m so exhausted and drained, ruining my life!

    I have very very bad health anxiety, I’m only 18 and when I think there is something wrong with me I automatically go into panic mode, but I think I possibly get this from my mom who also has health anxiety.
    I get anxious about going to the dentist, I get anxious when going to the doctors, I get anxious when I go to the hospital.
    I don’t know how to over come this do you have any tips for this please.

    • @nikandevaspeakman

      Do listen to the tips in our film. It is often a copied behaviour so do consider it doesn’t belong to you when you start feeling those feelings of worry. If you can make light of it and say to yourself things like ‘this is mums worry not mine’ may help as if you do something new, you’ll get a new result. Also appreciate your body. You’re accusing it of letting you down with illness, but it never has and if you support it too to keep it healthy then all will be well.

    How do you overcome 'white coat syndrome'. It is really affecting me when I have to go to my gp or have tests? My heart rate goes up and takes a while to come back down. No clue where this comes from as I have never had a bad experience with doctors.

    • @nikandevaspeakman
      @nikandevaspeakman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do have a film here on our channel to explain causes of phobias, so do please take a look, or better still subscribe if you haven't already, then follow the advice in our overcoming phobias film, and use our anxiety relief technique until you have dealt with the origin. This is a very common fear, and although you may not have had a bad experience with a doctor, it could even be something like once waiting for test results and expecting the worst, then attaching that negative emotion to the white coats, but hope our other films help with this further. Good luck!
