From this to global superstar in 3 years. The comments about people making mistakes are very prescient. Tiger is human. I don't know of another athlete who has brought me such awe and joy. Thanks Tiger.
That jealous bitch deprived us of seeing him accomplish even more. He deserved so much better. Think about that. He accomplished all he did basically by 33 at the 2008 US Open. Thirty fn 3. He should hold every record in the book. But that Swedish nanny thought she was special and ruined it for all of us. I really hope Charlie his son can make it. Tiger deserves so much better than what he has become. I miss watching him so much.
I think I might cut off my right hand to have this be today with all of his career still ahead of him and get to relive all the greatness. I wish I had watched this live in 1994. We'll never see anything close to him again
He came to Hawaii when he was around 14, his dad was an Army guy like my dad. My dad and his buds followed Tiger for nine holes at Leilehua GC near Wheeler AFB. My dad came home that day and was in awe about how well he could hit the ball and how far and he goes, " you know theyre saying this kids gonna set all kinds of records". Haha oh really. 😂
Yeah, Tiger is personally my #1 athlete of all time because of both his accomplishments and records and I actually got to witness his greatness through his entire career, which technically still isn't over.
A memorable and in my opinion, the greatest US AM that Tiger had won out of all three. These golfers came from two extremely different spectrums. The Kuehne was a prominent family and a great golf family who had everything. Trip was coached by Hank Haney then. Woods family on the other hand, have nothing close to what Kuehne has but there were there purely on Tiger's golf game. To come from behind and beat him on the famed island green at Sawgrass made it even more special. Nobody sees tiger again since then in term of golf achievement.
The Kuehnes are one of the most interesting golf families. The best male player in the family loses to tiger in this fashion and refuses to turn pro but goes on to have a very successful amateur career, his sister won on the LPGA Tour, and his brother won the US Am but he does turn pro, where he becomes the tour’s longest hitter and was hyped for about 3 years but never finished better than runner up
If I recall, Hank kept getting sidelined from injury. I wonder if the swing changes he made exacerbated it; he had a very different motion compared to what he was using come his Tour debut
@@BirdmanDeuce26 hank was long as hell. I remember him getting a serious bicep injury at one point which required surgery . I don’t think he was ever the same .
Listening to tiger about being a super golfer with pieces of 50 golfers sounds way out there with a imagination but 25 yrs later he was bang on. Well done Tiger. Thanks for making me interested in golf and creating quite a stir in golf all around the world.
Love Musberger’s contribution. Reminded me of the Fred Willard character in “Best in Show”. And he was relentlessly all over them regarding slow play!!
It’s interesting, Musburger was ripped for his Butler Cabin duties at the Masters at CBS which led to him being replaced by Jim Nantz, then when he went to ESPN/ABC he was again criticized for his work on golf coverage, this time as play by play announcer. I’ve watched almost all the majors he called and his CBS Masters hosting was definitely cringe, but his play by play on ESPN/ABC was actually not bad and was entertaining at times. He had a great call of the 1993 Memorial when Paul Azinger holed out, and also the 1995 British Open when Rocca holed out. However ABC’s coverage format was stale, leading to the entire ESPN/ABC golf team being revamped in 1997, Musburger being replaced by Mike Tirico. Supposedly Judy Rankin cried when Musburger had a farewell dinner with the golf team at the end of 1996. ABC and Musburger did allow the great Jim McKay call the final holes of the 1992 and 93 US Opens, despite him being replaced as lead golf announcer in 1990 by Roger Twibell and later Musburger.
I feel like a commentator complaining about slow play in golf is kinda like a commentator complaint about 3 point shots in the nba. Like it's part of the game lol

Listening to these commentators Homer for Keuhne is pissing me off. I loved how Tiger proved them wrong from the pine straw. He couldn't hit a fairway until that hole, and the announcers were saying it's impossible to put pressure on the leader if you ain't hitting fairways. Tiger hit a 4 iron from the pine straw to 25 ft. from the pin. Keuhne duffed the shot from the bunker and Tiger 2 putts and wins the hole. He was 4 down and won the next 3 holes. And they still kept homering. 😡
