If the jet is traveling at near light speed, you might only have a half second to a few minutes to realize that the end is nigh. (This is dependent on a bunch of factors, speed of the jet, distance from the origin, etc. so you might have more time than you want to realize that you are doomed.)

There is a way we can do it without warp drives. Consider as we pick up speed time dilation means inside the ship time moves slower than outside. This means you can “zip” over to it, take measurements along the length, and return to publish a paper and give talks. Of course the planet you left won’t be the same. You might be talking to highly evolved aircraft bots, apes with rifles on horseback, octopi with spears, or something unimaginable.

It would be amazing (and very scary) if many of the unexplained cosmological events we see were down to a species (or many species) changing their galax(ies) in the same way we change rivers and lakes with dams and engineering.
Meanwhile back in the real world...

I have a rather expensive pair of glasses for close up reading that I am very protective of and never leave my home office room draw.
I usually keep a cheapo pair for when I am out and about, except I lost them (which is why I don't take my good pair out).
Then I lost my good pair just after. I cried, I went to every businesses that I had been to in case I had taken the expensive pair, I upside downed every draw in the room and progressed through the rest of the house 3 times and then declared I had lost them and I would be blind for the foreseeable future.
      >
About a week later I had to go to a birthday and slipped on a new pair of shoes that I had got 2 weeks earlier, and hidden inside was my glasses case and glasses. Say what now!
Because I had lost my cheapo pair I took my good pair when buying my new shoes and some other stuff. Being so over protective of my glasses and having 2 hands full of stuff my brain must have decided that the soft new shoes was the safest place to carry them without dropping them. I came home and put the shoes away and forgot lol

It is possible that jets from active galactic nuclei (AGN) could be made of plasma dense enough to sustain a magnetic field that helps channel and extend them over millions of light-years. These jets are typically composed of relativistic plasma (charged particles moving at nearly the speed of light), and the dynamics are heavily influenced by magnetic fields.
In such a scenario, the magnetic field plays a crucial role in collimating and stabilizing the jet, preventing it from dispersing as it travels vast distances through the intergalactic medium. This can happen through the following mechanisms:
Magnetic Confinement (Poloidal and Toroidal Fields):
The plasma within the jet can generate both poloidal (along the axis of the jet) and toroidal (around the axis) magnetic fields. The interplay between these fields can create a self-collimating structure, where the magnetic field lines keep the plasma together and directed along a narrow path. This allows the jet to travel far without dispersing.
    Relativistic Effects:
The jets are often moving at relativistic speeds, which also affects the dynamics. Relativistic beaming helps maintain the integrity of the jet by concentrating energy in a forward direction, along the axis of the jet.
    Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Stability:
Plasma jets are governed by MHD equations, and under the right conditions, these jets can maintain stability over large distances due to the balance between the plasma's pressure and the magnetic forces. Instabilities such as kink or Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities can arise, but strong magnetic fields can suppress or mitigate these effects.
    Intergalactic Medium (IGM) Interaction:
The density and structure of the intergalactic medium play a role in how far the jet can propagate. If the IGM is relatively low in density, the jet can extend for millions of light-years, while denser regions may cause dissipation or the formation of hotspots where energy is released.
Therefore, a combination of magnetic confinement, relativistic effects, and favorable conditions in the surrounding medium could allow a plasma jet from an AGN to sustain its structure over millions of light-years, so I would suggest the mechanism for jets of this length is likely understood.

I have a “theory”. What follows is that theory....
The same rules apply at all scales... what science is trying to measure in quantum mechanics isn’t actually part of our universe.... they’re trying to measure massive structures in smaller universes, thinking they’re seeing subatomic particles, when in fact our universe, and the time and space which fill it, end at the outermost boundary of the atom. The atom is our universe, that which makes up the atom is not our universe, nor the time and space within it.... once you cross the line between atomic and subatomic, you’re talking about another universe entirely....

I understand space is mostly empty, but imagine getting caught in these streams; or imagine one of these heading your way and you've no way of evacuating your planet. Would we even know if such a stream was pointed at our solar system?

laniakea quasar collapse proto type locations, other ones like these(that weren't so isolated) added up to a The Great Attractor like region of gravitational attraction.

Seems to me these jets would be involved in laying the groundwork for what becomes the 'strands' of the intergalactic web. It might also help explain why large galaxy are at the connection points of the web.

Oh dear, humans set official limits to the lengths of jets and the universe has a mind of its own. :P ... I love these kinds of researches as it shows what is out there instead of what we imagine could be out there and that's the best data to learn from.

The longevity of the jets might be explained if they exist in a giant void. Right after typing this, Anton said the same, but posting anyway. 😁

Hi anton,it opus known how they exist and are not unusual, notice the giveaway it's not stopped or controlled by gravity, its because their electrical discharges 39 times to the power of ten ,stronger than gravity.
