hi deli! indonesian here! just if you want to pronounce dewi’s name a little bit better, it’s pronounced as “de-wee” (“day-wee” but kinda eliminate the y in the pronunciation) it’s actually just like you pronounce your name deli! deli & dewi:) and btw dewi means goddess! so your dewi is a rebellious goddess i must say :> and u pronounced budi and opa correctly already! but just fyi for understanding indonesian’s pronounciations, budi: “bu-dee” (“boo-dee”), and opa: “o-pa”. you have to pronounce it more clear and exact to the actual letter:) anyways yes! some of us call our grandpa “opa” or “opah”!!! im so happy that you put indonesian family to your lets play and i’m so excited for this lets play and this expansion pack u have no idea!!
It's funny to me that these few words are so similar to german. As you describe it, we would pronounce Dewi the same, Opa means grandpa in german and Budi would also be pronounced this way. That's probably as far as the similarities go (or maybe theres some dark past to those similarities, although I hope not) but it's cool that I know that Opa is also indonesian :)
@@melinaalba63 I think Indonesia was colonized by Germany, maybe one of the reasons why it sounds similar, Indonesia itself is not a native or local language, it's more like the national language for one tribe to communicate to another because Indonesia had more than 200 languages and tribe, so Indonesian language has a lot of word that came from another language, native Indonesian or other countries.
@mariealba4158 we were colonised by the Dutch so we have a lot of Dutch loan words! And when I learnt German in high school, that also results in similarities with German😅 I called my grandparents Opa and Oma growing up 😊
"Opa" means "grandpa" in Indonesian (a loan word from Dutch), and "Oppa" means "big brother" in Korean. I was already in the university when K-Pop boomed in Indonesia and I started hearing Indonesian girls calling Korean male idols "Oppa". I knew "Oppa" means "big brother", but it was still funny to me because it sounded as if those young men were referred to as "grandpa"
We call the grandfather "Opa" in Germany to. The grandmother is called "Oma". But both is pronounced a little different, longer and with the focus in the a.
I'm indonesian and it brings me so much joy to see your new let's play is inspired by our culture. 'Opa' is indeed the right word to refer to grandpa. We do have other terminologies like 'Mbah' in my local culture, but i think Opa is great too don't worry. You use Budi as well for the name, it's like the most quintessential indonesian names ever it's amazing. Already expecting great things from Mas Budi *we call older male in indonesia 'Mas' in some indonesian culture here. it's like calling 'Brother Budi'. I have to say the amount of unadulterated joy that i've felt seeing a rice cooker in the sims game is absolutely ridiculous but at the same time it's just feels nice to be represented. Now the build will really feels like home for me, a genuine indonesian home *with the squat toilet and all*. I'm excited for this let's play Deli! it looks great already
Yay! I’m so glad so many players can have their gameplay reflect their homes and culture now. It will be so appreciated. It also refreshing to see and learn about other cultures for me too. 😊
Hi Deli love to see you leaping right into the game and love your little family. Just thought I'd remind you that not every culture finds tattoos rebellious and sometimes people get tattoos for good luck and to build or celebrate their culture and family as well! Maybe that could be a storyline you could pursue?
i believe tattoos are generally frowned upon in indonesia, of course locally it could differ but as a general thing it seems to not be super accepted in indonesia
I feel like that's a very 'Sulani' thing in the world of Sims. Like it feels right for my Sulani characters to have cultural tattoos l. Am currently playing a family there and Grandpa and his adult son both have tattoos and when the toddler in the family turns into a teen, he probably will to.
So happy those of you that get early access get a code now that gives you commission. I’m in the program but I’ve never gotten true early access, you inspire us deli. 😊
You are the very first simmer I started watching and that was YEARS ago but I’m just now learning your actual name is Maddy which according to the internet is Madeleine. You have such a beautiful name and I never even knew it!
i am SOOOO happy to see indos get represented in your lp, especially as an indonesian who has watched your videos for years! much love from jakarta 💓🇮🇩
Deli! I just want to thank you sooo much for not using foul language. It is very refreshing to watch you help us learn to transverse Sims4 without all the explicatives. 😉☺️ it is just as funny and enjoyable being with you and upbuilding and educational too. A family friendly and fun time! Thanx a lot! 🥰
Opa is from Dutch but bc of the Dutch colonisation of Indonesia you see that in some regions (mostly east like maluku, Papua, Banda Timor leste) they use Opa and other Dutch words! Just like how in Holland we use quite some old bahasa
Thank you for playing from the renter not landlord perspective. This is what I needed to see and I so wanted to see how this worked!!! Also, I currently think cringe is an adorable trait thanks to this Lets play 😂😂
So excited for this! And great that you're reviewing it. Can't wait to start building and creating families, Very cool. As always love your gameplay and will definitely use your code.
10:05 koh in thai means island, but it’s pronounce more like kor but with shorter sound Also I saw some residential has the word “soi” then follow by number (soi 15) soi means alley, so that lot means it’s place on the 15th alley :D
I always love seeing your videos and watching your version of everything and in the creative SIM. Thank you so much, and I'm looking forward to this. Let's play an. I'm getting excited for the pack to be able to do it myself. And i'm actually curious to see how this new handy job works. Love you lots and I always love your videos❤❤❤
can i just saying i've been watching deli for years and i did NOT know her name was maddie hahaha, i feel like i'm having an existential crisis, the world as i know it is falling apart :000 hahah jkjk
fun fact: opa is also a word we use in dutch for grandfather!! it’s not the official word for it, but opa’s used way more than the actual word, or at least in belgium it is :) so it’s probably used in other languages like indonesian aswell!!
This world looks really beautiful. I'm actually excited for this pack. Thanks for the preview, Deli. The one thing that really annoys me with the Sims team is when they don't give us a wall swatch to match with the floor tiles. Or counters without matching overhead cabinets, or fences without matching gates, or when the swatch colours of cabinets and counters don't really match. Like, come on, how hard is that really? Just take out some of the useless shells (ugh 🙄 ) around the world and give us matching swatches.
This update is just another reminder that somehow sims 4 is not open world, and the fact that you need a loading screen to move in between rooms of a house now is just ridiculous...
Hiii!! I’ve been watching your channel for about 4 years I’d say? And I’m just now finding out your name is Maddie!! I was like “No??, it’s Deli!!!” 😂❤❤
Deli I'm sooo excited to watch your let's play and really appreciate you creating Indonesian sims (: One thing I wanted to mention though, Orchid is Anggrek! Just a little misspell for the last name, but overall I love your attention to detail
I'm not new but I'd love to say hi! Hi, Deli! 😊 And I want to add: Opa is also what we Germans call our grandfathers. We pronounce it a bit differently though :D
Super excited for this LP! ❤🎉 I was always told smell is the strongest tie to memory.. and I believe it.. my aunt passed away when I was a child. It’s been over 20 years and every once in a while I will smell some thing, and immediately it will make me think of my aunt.

I love that this lets you build the apartment building of your dreams no more windows you can't move, doors you can't change, annoying lot traits, etc

We Indonesians got it from Dutch. But most people don’t call our grandfather Opa, just probably fancier people do lol.
Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch and Germany :)
Greek too.
@@nathanneoo we were not. Maybe you mean New Guinea? It’s an entirely different country. :)
Opa is the exact word for grandpa in Dutch! The O will be pronounced longer as if you'd say Ooooo when curious🤗
Yess!! The o is like the o in "ohhh"
Same in German
I was about to say the same ☺️
YOU HAVE A REAL NAME?! I’ve watched you for literally years and have only just known this! I thought your name was Deli! How did I miss this! 😂😂
