2:50 "A place where all are welcome and all are kind. And those who are not kind are armed with axes, so that they may fall upon the others that are not kind." - That got a chuckle out of me. Whatever possessed you to say that, very clever.
13:08 having numerical superiority doesn't matter if you make everyone attack from the same direction. All you have to do is make the second squad attack from a different angle or else they'll all just queue behind the first row waiting for their turn to fight
oh good to know that. I've just started playing last night and I had the same thing I saw them waiting for their attack turn. Assumed it was normal game mechanic. I'll give the split a go =D
I think the criticism of the game being good but empty and just needing more of itself is also a nice compliment. Seeing the obvious amount of work and attention to create a visually pleasing and immersive atmosphere, the game looks on a good trajectory. I couldn't help but notice how some warriors were staying behind and idle during fights, different options of formation in and out of combat would help quite a bit imo.
Would be nice if the points of interest you cleared, i.e. the bandit camp or the abandoned cargo, would disappear after you cleared them. Also if they made the world outside of your sphere of infulenece active, i.e. new POIs would spawn over time.
It's a nice casual village builder basically. I really dig it, though it is a bit shallow for now. When it comes out, I think it's going to be a lot of fun and fulfilling :)
Every-time I hear Splat talk about loving Mead and being sad he can't have it it makes me wonder where he lives that it's only Imported and expensive. Also I wonder why he don't just try brewing some. It's pretty simple.
3:21 The feasts or riots mechanic, if it's indeed just that simple: that doesn't really feel like it'd fit with the Vikings, feels more like a Roman kind of theme (bread and circuses, as it were). 3:39 If you like mead, I'd recommend Punsch, they're both Saccharine! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punsch
Only thing that doesn't convice me its the replenish mechanic, takes a lot of resources and its difficult to make it worth the expense aka you need at least more than half dead to be cost effective.
Honestly I reckon the main longhouse should have a singular large zone that gives community And ideally later on you'd have other providers of community, perhaps a bar
Every house gives community to others close by currently, so you have to put them all together. Instead, they could do something like every house inside the longhouse zone will give community to the other houses, as long as they are inside the same zone, no matter the distance.
Oh mead, I know a couple of good places. Helderberg in NY makes some of the best I've had. Then Groennfell in Vermont looks really good, haven't had the chance to try it yet, but what I've seen has been positive, and they seem to put a lot of resources into ethical practice and the community.
For anyone in my neck of the woods who sees Helderberg in store, or visits their actual tasting room, I did a tasting of all their products and I don't think there's a bad one in the bunch. That said, their hard cider is the best cider I've had, and their feral or sweet feral is probably the best mead they have. It's a little more expensive, but they make it with wild caught yeast, and it just tastes amazing.
I played a mobile game called "The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores" which feels very similar to this game. This looks way better, but the similarities are... suspicious.
I wish that bandit camp would've moved after it was discovered. Bandits would know that once discovered, a settlement would've send a sizable army to its location to clear it out. I hope the developers are reading / listening.
this is looking VERY similar to Dawn of Man.... just vikings instead of early humans. same devs perhaps? i know Dawn of Man stopped development so i guess its possible

lol the meeting to pitch the name
"its medieval, so something heim"
"is it cold?"
"perhaps"
"cold heim?"
"frozen heim! lets do lunch"
It's looking good. Looking forward to official launch.
Long live the kind (and axe-wielding) nation of Gyrgn!
"getting stone ready to rock"... man I do appreciate your phrasing sometimes.
i'm so glad someone noticed :p
Rock and stone

or take over
Oh wow. I like how they naturally create paths walking through the fields.
Make your own mean splat. Its easy. It just requires patience. I make my own and love it.
I wish they'd called it Frostheim. Then it would be correct in icelandic and english.
Looks southwest -
"It's all up to the North"
"Getting stone now rather than later, getting that ready to *ahem* ROCK"
Mead is made with honey yum.
Loved the video as always Splatt.

Mead, believed to be the oldest of alcoholic drinks, tis indeed the drink of the gods.
I've been following this game for a long time now, hoping for good things so thanks for this well balanced review of its current state.
This game has some serious potential.
Every-time I hear Splat talk about loving Mead and being sad he can't have it it makes me wonder where he lives that it's only Imported and expensive.
Also I wonder why he don't just try brewing some. It's pretty simple.
Maybe he lives in Morrowind.
As I wander about my domicile erratically murmuring Girgin....girgin...

Glad I found your channel, was getting bored of AAA games. This is refreshing
looks absolutely amazing
This looks pretty cool. I'm excited for the final release. I love me some northgard
I’ll be watching this games career with great interest
Only thing that doesn't convice me its the replenish mechanic, takes a lot of resources and its difficult to make it worth the expense aka you need at least more than half dead to be cost effective.
A beautiful looking game.
Mead is actually pretty easy to make. Honey, yeast, a few other ingredients, and some time and technique.
The UI strongly reminds me of Frostpunk
bcuz it is Frostpunk mechanics and UI shame
it is soo cold outside, why am I watching a video review of a game with the word Frozen in the title ;)
Keep working never give up slattercat!

Hey Dude.
Just recently discovered your channel.
AWESOME!
You really hiz my taste when it comes too indie PC games.
Keep it up! Greetings!
Mmm, thanks for the Monty Python vibes, Splatt. LOL
doing the lords work
Giving me big Frostpunk vives, I dig it
If you think it's worthwhile can make your own mead it surprisingly simple once you get past sanitation
2:20 That's a Skyrim border gate.
All I've been doing is watching your videos on binge for the past week
The settlement Gyrgn deserves this like by default!
the voice of the soldiers sounds exactly like one of the voices in mordhau lol
Oh, looks like Foundation with a purpose.
Brew your own mead, there's tutorials on here all over the place.
It's pretty straight forward.
My friend does it. Its cheap and good to do it yourself XD
The embarrassment when I realized I wasn't subscribed to this channel. I fixed it!
mooooove out of the way other gaming channels, splattercat is here!
Yayy Splatt!

Looks fucking great! Keep us updated please! Thanks buddies! Cheers!
"A place where all are welcome, and all are kind, and those who are not kind..." got me.
Dude your upload schedule is through the roof right now!
Settlers was the first game to have NPCs create roads based on their pathing. Just an FYI 8)
wow, what a original name!!!
I played a mobile game called "The Bonfire 2: Uncharted Shores" which feels very similar to this game. This looks way better, but the similarities are... suspicious.
The "20% discount" send me here 👀
Looks very nice!
This game gives me Frostpunk vibes for some reason...
A bandit camp?!? Gyrgn!!
you should try frostpunk! very similar to this.
its like battle realms
Missed opportunity to call your settlement "Splattegat".
Mead is very easy to make at home.
upgrading the longhouse might work?
Interesting!
"Halway between an Anno game and an RTS"
Should I tell SplatterCat that Anno games are RTS games?
looks good.
the valhttlers.
Are monsters in this game? Like Trolls, Giants, etc.?
Its literally that other game but better looking
MORE!
Seems like a reasonable price for this product considering what you get.
didn't watch full video yet...but is multiplayer cooperative or competitive? :P
Dude you need to try making meed it's really easy and you can do it in 3 gallon batches
And it's cheaper than buying it
Has the same aesthetics as new world with the menus
That intro menu gives off heavy HZD vibes.
reminds me of grand age of rome
Mead is easy to make at home. Have a look at some TH-cam videos
Units look so tiny i can bearly see them
I believe "Frozenheim" is German for Frostpunk...
Leave the wolves alone
is this a Northgard Clone??
looks like northguard, except its more "fidgety simulation" and less "competitive rts/4x/city builder goodness"
GERHGIN!
GYRGN!
🖤
First TH-cam video I’ve ever managed to get the first like on, solid
Only took you 7 years
I wish that bandit camp would've moved after it was discovered. Bandits would know that once discovered, a settlement would've send a sizable army to its location to clear it out. I hope the developers are reading / listening.
is this Manor Lords?
It looks a lot like Northgard.
If this were closer to reality, putting a tannery literally right beside the residential area would have caused everyone to move out within 24 hrs. 🤢
What’s the difference in mead and beer?
Fanciness?
Beer is made from grains and mead is made from honey.
I really hate that white fog of war.
make your own mead then
this is looking VERY similar to Dawn of Man.... just vikings instead of early humans. same devs perhaps? i know Dawn of Man stopped development so i guess its possible
pretty rts o.o
Frozen Valheim?😂
This looks A LOT like Dawn of Man. Many of the mechanics seem the same.
collectors guild...
How many different "Heim" games are there now? Heim personally getting sick of it.
Valheim?
looks 1000% better than aoe 4 :(
Wtf? They completly ripped off Frostpunk's UI
Woah, why didnt you spend 2 min talking about rock., surely you must have thrown them as a kid? like the mead thing
