That is amazing! I thought you drove through the tunnel like you drive through the Lincoln Tunnel between New York and New Jersey. I had no idea you had to drive onto a train like a ferry boat and take that to the U K. You really do learn something new everyday.
I drive on the right in a right hand drive vehicle for the US Postal Service all day and then have to switch to left hand driving in my own car. If you do it enough it , you can used to it and don't even have to think about it.
In the 80s you could turn up at Dover on spec with a (motor)bike and fare was something negligible like a tenner, the price being subsidised by tax-free on board sales. Everyone came off the return trip with 800 "bennies" either for themselves or to flog at work. Everything's worse now. More laws, more hassle, more queues, more expense.

I think the old system was that you went through immigration BEFORE going to the terminal. Why was this changed? (At the Folkestone one you went to the terminal before immigration.)
I didn't get any sense where this went under water. I saw them entering and driving through a hallway that appeared above-ground, with windows every few yards in the hall. What am I missing?
@@jottube878 lol, I didn't think the train was a submarine! 😃 Point was, why didn't they show the entrance into the tunnel or something, so we all got the sense where they went under the ground. Honestly I thought after watching this they went across on a ferry over the water.
It's rather crazy you have to get into a lane to talk to someone to get into another lane to talk to someone all while going through a gigantic maze of space. I've never been overseas from here in US but I think I would rather take a flight.
OK think about it this way. To take a flight you have to get into a lane (security) to talk to someone to get into another lane to talk to someone (the gate) all while going through a gigantic maze of a space (the airport). And you have to do that both ends with international travel as you clear customs and immigration at your destination. With this you go through both border controls and customs at the one terminal, allowing you to drive off the train and straight onto the motorway at the other end.
@@nickpatrick1636 I was saying radiation scanner because I don't think you can have people in the vehicle while an x ray scan is ongoing. A radiation scanner is a passive scanner that won't boil your insides. The amount of power needed is more than a medical x ray.
@@jottube878 I've seen videos of buses getting on the train. So if you don't have a car, you can take a bus that gets on the train if you want to experience the tunnel train, right? Of course, you can always fly, or take a passenger ferry. Do passenger ferries still run?

The maze that you drive through to get to the trains looks similar to the lines you stand in at Disney world 😉
the fact that an underground tunnel that spans an entire channel between 2 great european countries is cool.
Thank you, we really appreciate your time making the video, very helpful for our first journey to Spain and return home
Glad it was helpful!
WOW……VERY IMPRESSIVE THANX!
Wow such a nice picks mind blowing excellent👍
thanks
Great video and lovely music. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
I wonder how the wheel being on the right side and driving on the right side works
Forget passing anyone without risking a head-on collision.
@@KamalasFakePolls It's fine if you have a passenger.
just be on a motorbike duh

It's like playing euro truck simulator
Wow for me that would be too much. I have a friend that take the Ferry.... It that earlier???

I have a train for 10pm or if I arrive early will they let me on the train?
check with them the rules are changing all the time!

They drove onto the train in France and drove off in the UK, didn't show the train ride
yes true! we where on the train for about 30 mins which in that we when underwater but you can not tell you go under water as you are in a tunnel

Wow man, so you load your car into the train and then Chunnel it, and just drive off. No annoying aspects of leaving a car behind.
nope!
The 'auto train' European style.
All this process to go inside a tunnel
What if there traffic
The security checks looks enormously annoying. I'd rather catch a plane
What do you expect
The whole process looks annoying
Annoying 4 nothing.
Where else can you get your car transported across a channel without a bridge?
@@Supperdude9 your don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that using an airplane would probably work out nicely

So much faffing around just to get on a train
You go through a train to get to the UK border?
He went through all the border controls BEFORE getting on the train. Rather civilised if you ask me...
câți km sunt din franța până în uk?😃
50km pe tren
If you don't have a car, can you ride the train as a normal train passenger?
sadly no!
There are plenty of other trains that are 'passengers only' eg. Paris to/from London
