Thanks, informative video. How long does it take to get from the beginning (lanes where you have to confirm your booking) to the train (boarding)? It says on the the online booking process that I have to arrive at least 45 mins before departure. From your video it does not look like you arrived much earlier unless you did not show some of the time you was waiting at the car park?
Thank you for the kind feedback mate. As per your question, yes I trimmed down the video and did not show some of the time I was waiting at the car park. I also increased the speed of the video to make it faster at some parts. If I remember correctly, I arrived almost 2hrs to my boarding time (I tend to give extra time just to be on the safe side which paid off on my return journey from France cos there was massive delays). Truthfully, if all goes well it should not take you more than 30 minutes from the beginning to the train (boarding), however when does things ever go well? lolzzz Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink Instagram: instagram.com/djblinkblink/
@@DjBlinkBlink Thanks for quick answer. I have a dilemma now. I booked a train at 5.20am and was going to leave my place at 4am (my journey to Folkstone takes 40mins), but after you replied I think I might need to leave my place earlier or change the booking (if possible). The weird thing is that I was notified about the required arrival time right after I finished my booking, did not notice it before (I have to admit I did not check this properly). I did take eurotunnel train twice before as a passenger of the coach and both times it took max. 20mins from the beginning to boarding. Therefore, I was very confused about required arrival time before departure. One more time thanks for video and your quick reply, cheers.
@@ArturBartlinski You are welcome again mate. To be honest, you don't need to change your booking time. If I was in your shoes, with a booked train of 5.20am and a journey time to Folkstone of about 40mins, I would leave my house 3.30am with a planned arrival of 4.10am (this gives me 1hr 10 mins to board and I would not have any reason to panic). So just leave your home 30mins earlier to your planned time of 4am and you should be fine. If you are using the Eurotunnel, you need to check in at least 45 minutes before departure. Personally, I always arrive 2hrs before my departure time. Hey what about the checking of the driving licence and insurance policy... When are they asking you this? Same time as the passport i'm taking? Thanks for the video
Hello Kamerlif3, They don't check or ask for your driver licence or insurance policy at any point of the border. Only the police would ever ask you for this and that would be if they stopped you when driving on the roads in Europe. So to answer your question, they don't check any of this at any of the border or crossing. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink

Hi mate I'm travelling to calais in September just to meet someone and collect a puppy I am buying from italy , they are meeting me in Calais so I hopefully will be of the tunnel collect the pup and straight back on .do you know if there are any extra rules for carrying animals did you notice also what adaptions have to be made to the car to drive over there even if I'm not going far from the tunnel once arrived . Cheers
Hello Sam, If you plan to travel to Calais to collect a puppy, you would need to do a couple of things which are highlighted below: 1. Book a ticket for your pup (pet) for £20 each way www.eurotunnel.com/uk/travelling-with-us/travelling-with-your-pet/ 2. You need to get a EU pet passport for the pup 3. The pup must be fitted with a microchip 4. It must be at least 12 weeks old and must be vaccinated against rabies 5. Must be treated against tapeworm This checklist explains this in detail www.eurotunnel.com/uk/travelling-with-us/travelling-with-your-pet/checklist/ As per the second part of your question, I did not notice any special adaptations to people's cars that were travelling with their pets. @@DjBlinkBlink cheers mate for answering so quickly . I thought they were the rules so glad you have backed it up . The breeder will handle all of that, also wasnt aware of paying for the pet as I just thought it was pay per car so thanks for the heads up . I noticed on your video you went through a pet lane , was that a lane for people carrying pets as I can imagine I will have to stop and show the dogs documents. No worries if your not sure as I dont except you know to much regarding importing a dog . Cheers again for answering .
@@sams6492 answering swiftly is like my "pet project" now to be honest 😂. I'm always keeping an eye for questions and it is fun to help people out to be honest. If I remember correctly, we used the pet lane on our return journey from France and that must have been due to the congestion. If I am wrong and it was the first part of our trip (from the UK), then it must have been either an open lane or maybe we were routed there. One thing I saw 100 % was people getting their pet documents ready to be shown when they took them to a play area (there are various places you can exercise your pets and all). So definitely you would need to show the documents for your pet. Cheers mate and have a great trip. DJ Blink-Blink
@@DjBlinkBlink do you pay per car mate or is it a ticket for everyone travelling I'm trying to book on the euro tunnel site and only seems to ask for my reg not how many travelers
@@sams6492 hello mate. You pay per vehicle for Eurotunnel irrespective of the number of people travelling in the car which is why the Eurotunnel website asked for your vehicle registration alone and not the number of travellers. Remember though, everyone travelling in your car must have their passport with them as required. More information about the number of travellers in a car can be found here help.eurotunnel.com/hc/en-gb/articles/209263425-I-ve-added-additional-passengers-to-the-car#:~:text=Our%20tickets%20are%20purchased%20per,have%20purchased%20personal%20travel%20insurance. Kind regards, DJ Blink-Blink
2:30 Not so fast there (DJ 2x Blink). Might want to purchase and/or affix those headlights adaptor stickers beforehand. Don't want to dazzle any oncoming drivers, if you're driving at night and more importantly spending your holiday/travel money in fines.
My daugther, She was in France with Visa Working Holidays, and she has a vacationstr in U.K. for 2 weeks, She takes Eurotunnel in Calais, but She forgot her passport and Polizi U.K.back Calais, and now She has a lack, what are the steps to follow to go back to Londres for vacations? She is Engginier and worked in Banck in my country. Is necessary a inmigrations Lawyer?
If you travel UK-bound, all checks including British passport checks take place in France. So in both directions everything is done before the actual crossing, so that you can resume your journey immediately upon arrival.
As i am planning to go to italy via france (obviously) and using the eurotunnel this is rally informative, i do have some questions however: i'll use a pretty wide car (RS6), so i've been told that i can use the left lane at 03:40 to go with caravans/vans. is that possible ? do i have to pay more or specify when booking the train?
Thanks mate for your feedback. To answer your questions: 1. Yes you can use the left lane (caravans/vans) 2. When making your booking via the website then make sure you select the "overheight or van" option as your vehicle. You can also call them on the phone and request for "high side" when booking. This would give you the ground floor of the train. On this floor, the curbs are set back and they don't jutt in and out along the carriages. This would give your car more room on the side when you drive in. 3. To my knowledge, you don't have to pay extra for this. Just ensure you give them all the information as required. Kind regards, DJ Blink-Blink
Thanks for your feedback about my video. To answer your question, tickets are available at the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle on the day, but this is subject to availability. You should be aware though that the further ahead you book, the cheaper the ticket is likely to be and tickets purchased on the day of travel would always be at the highest cost.
Yes you can travel with a roofbox. You would be directed to another carriage that has a higher entrance and not the entrance I used. The quote below is from the Eurotunnel website: "Customers with high vehicles/roof boxes" To avoid over-extended waiting times, customers must advise Eurotunnel Le Shuttle in advance if they are planning to travel with a vehicle higher than 1.85 metres (including roof boxes). We do NOT charge an additional fee for high vehicles or vehicles fitted with a roof box, however we do require prior notice so that we can allocate them correctly. Please call the Contact Centre on +44 (0) 8443 35 35 35. Customers who notified us at the time of booking are not required to notify us again. Much blessings, DJ Blink-Blink

That would be impossible cos they use a "Passive Millimetric Medium Wave" equipment to check every vehicle. All vehicles are scanned using PMMW, which uses passive micro-waves to detect any person that may be hiding inside the truck. This system works in real-time and, in the case of any doubt, the vehicle is subjected to further security controls. Morn information about this can be found here www.freightlink.co.uk/knowledge/articles/five-eurotunnel-security-check-procedures Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink
Am I missing something here. Your in moddle lane a quarter mile from exit then you over take and before you know it your 200 yards from exit as you return to middle lane and still in middle lane as exit approaches. Signs are there to help you to drive safer. I don't feel safe watching these clips.
Yes you are missing something and it's called "video editing". If I uploaded the whole video clip from the "quarter mile mark to the exit" it would take a longer period of time and in all honesty that's just a waste of resources. Also I'm sure you know it's NOT possible to exit the motorway from the middle lane (well maybe in cartoons) so don't let the video clip make you feel "unsafe".
Accidents happen and if by any chance this happens, it would not be an issue cos no trains would be allowed into that platform until the car is removed.
American cars would have to use the "single deck carriages". These are bigger and more spacious. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙬𝙚𝙗𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙍𝙀𝙀 𝘿𝙅 𝙢𝙞𝙭𝙚𝙨: www.djblinkblink.com/ 𝑴𝒀 𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑻𝑨𝑮𝑹𝑨𝑴 𝑷𝑨𝑮𝑬: instagram.com/djblinkblink/

Truthfully, if all goes well it should not take you more than 30 minutes from the beginning to the train (boarding), however when does things ever go well? lolzzz

Is it necessary to book in advance?
Or can I still book when I am there ?
Just like airlines, it is advisable and cheaper to book in advance. You may also get there and you won't get a slot to book cos they are FULLY booked!!

Very helpful video. What do u need to drive in France? Any documents or anything like that?
Hello Mate, To drive in France you need the following (list may not be up to date), European car insurance cover, road side achohol tester (at least 2), GB sticker, Hazard triangle sign, and high visibility vest for all the passengers. Also make sure you have medical insurance for the days you would be in France. Finally ensure your "speed camera" detector is off on your sat nav.

I’m using the tunnel for the first time on Thursday and am concerned my pick up won’t fit but Eurotunnel seem ok with it!

Hey Nick,
The car I was driving when I went on the Eurotunnel was a Honda CRV (EX model) with a height of 1685mm and yes I also felt it was close to the barriers when I drove underneath 😂😂😂.

Where it says low vehicles lane would you use that one for motorbike?
No you cannot use that lane for a motorbike. You have to use the dedicated lane on the left [3:40]
How many minutes should I arrive before departure?
If you are using the Eurotunnel, you need to check in at least 45 minutes before departure. Personally, I always arrive 2hrs before my departure time. This would give me enough time if there is any congestion which happened to me on my return journey from Brussels (see link) th-cam.com/video/wfWzwIwXwFk/w-d-xo.html
So just play it safe by giving enough time before your departure.

Hey what about the checking of the driving licence and insurance policy... When are they asking you this? Same time as the passport i'm taking? Thanks for the video
Hello Kamerlif3,
They don't check or ask for your driver licence or insurance policy at any point of the border. Only the police would ever ask you for this and that would be if they stopped you when driving on the roads in Europe.
So to answer your question, they don't check any of this at any of the border or crossing.

Is it easy to kerb your wheels? I want to drive to Disney this summer (if Covid allows) and I have expensive 21" wheels on my SUV
Yes Patrick, it is very easy to kerb your wheels when driving "into" the train and also when you are "lining" your car up in the train. Just take it slow and follow the hand movements from the staff and you would be fine mate 😎👍🏾

Cheers
Hello Sam,
If you plan to travel to Calais to collect a puppy, you would need to do a couple of things which are highlighted below:
1. Book a ticket for your pup (pet) for £20 each way www.eurotunnel.com/uk/travelling-with-us/travelling-with-your-pet/
2. You need to get a EU pet passport for the pup
3. The pup must be fitted with a microchip
4. It must be at least 12 weeks old and must be vaccinated against rabies
5. Must be treated against tapeworm
This checklist explains this in detail www.eurotunnel.com/uk/travelling-with-us/travelling-with-your-pet/checklist/
As per the second part of your question, I did not notice any special adaptations to people's cars that were travelling with their pets.

Not so fast there (DJ 2x Blink). Might want to purchase and/or affix those headlights adaptor stickers beforehand. Don't want to dazzle any oncoming drivers, if you're driving at night and more importantly spending your holiday/travel money in fines.
My car does not require me adding any "headlight adaptor stickers" to drive it in France.

It's funny that the French passport controll is in Great Britain. I hope I can go to Paris on the Eurostar one day.
It has to be in Britain so they can do their checks here and no checks need to be done when you arrive in France
If you travel UK-bound, all checks including British passport checks take place in France. So in both directions everything is done before the actual crossing, so that you can resume your journey immediately upon arrival.
Look up the le touquet treaty it actually means the uk border is in Calais and the french border is in Dover
Thanks Willem 👍🏾
DJ Blink-Blink no problem
As i am planning to go to italy via france (obviously) and using the eurotunnel this is rally informative, i do have some questions however:
i'll use a pretty wide car (RS6), so i've been told that i can use the left lane at 03:40 to go with caravans/vans. is that possible ? do i have to pay more or specify when booking the train?
Thanks mate for your feedback.
To answer your questions:
1. Yes you can use the left lane (caravans/vans)
Kind regards,
DJ Blink-Blink

To answer your question, tickets are available at the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle on the day, but this is subject to availability. To avoid over-extended waiting times, customers must advise Eurotunnel Le Shuttle in advance if they are planning to travel with a vehicle higher than 1.85 metres (including roof boxes). We do NOT charge an additional fee for high vehicles or vehicles fitted with a roof box, however we do require prior notice so that we can allocate them correctly. Can't anyone hide a person in the backtruck of their car and smuggle them into France or vice versa?
That would be impossible cos they use a "Passive Millimetric Medium Wave" equipment to check every vehicle. All vehicles are scanned using PMMW, which uses passive micro-waves to detect any person that may be hiding inside the truck. This system works in real-time and, in the case of any doubt, the vehicle is subjected to further security controls.
