The restrictions of Okada and Keke is a step in the right direction for checkmating criminal activities in both Umuahia and Aba.
It will solve part of the criminal activities in both cities.
Moving forward, Abia state government should provide public rapid buses in Aba and umuahia townships like what they have in Lagos to reduce transportation cost and hardship and phase out Keke and Okada in it's entirety from plying Aba and umuahia townships .
Those Okada and Keke riders should be made to become public Bus operators.
By so doing they will be entitled to public benefits like,health benefits,sick pay,vacation pay and even pensions and gratuities like public employees.
Right now Aba is transforming to 24/7 and needs public transportation.
Both Keke and Okada should be excluded from this transformation because they consists nuisances.
24hrs public rapid bus service is the right way for both Aba and umuahia.
While doing so,government should also provide 24hrs security operations to help mitigate the operations of criminal activities in both Aba and umuahia townships as well as suburbs areas especially in the nights .
The governor want to phase out keke just like Rochas did in the Imo state during his time. Mind you enugu state have similar policy.
Keke is soft tool of the criminals as one don't need driver license to drive it. According to report, in some states terrorist source for fund though driving keke or okada in the day while at night they go into criminal activities.
This move have benefits such as :
1. It will give drivers opportunity to rest. Thus reduce road accident and prolong service life of the vehicle.
2. Reduce crime. Eliminate criminals who take advantage of darkness to commit crime.
6am to 7pm which is 13 hours is enough for a serious driver to make .
I think what he should do now is to look into industrialized Abia state to create Jobs for the youths. Im not hearing about Abia indutrial and innovative park. These are projects that will create jobs for the teaming youths.
