“As we venture together on this collective journey, I invite every Filipino to significantly take part in forging a path of progress, inclusivity, and prosperity for the Bangsamoro region and the entire nation,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed in his keynote address at the 1st Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Local Legislative General Assembly held at the Acacia Hotel in Davao City on November 14, 2023.
Expressing gratitude to the Vice Mayors' League of the Philippines and the BARMM Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) for orchestrating the event, President Marcos Jr. underscored the importance of collaboration and unity among BARMM leaders, emphasizing their shared commitment to fostering progress and inclusivity.
Addressing the assembly, the Chief Executive highlighted the critical role of the leaders present in advancing peace and development goals in both the national and BARMM governments. He urged BARMM leaders to utilize the platform to assess challenges in implementing the Organic Act for the BARMM, emphasizing the need to explore collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing the socio-economic conditions of the Bangsamoro people.
"To all our BARMM leaders, I assure you that this administration's unwavering support to the development agenda to achieve sustainable and peaceful self-governance," President Marcos Jr. said.
The Chief Executive announced a significant milestone in international collaboration, reporting the recent signing and exchange of Diplomatic Notes on the Non-Project Grant Aid. This aid, amounting to US$6.8 million, is earmarked for the acquisition of construction equipment to improve road network and enhance disaster quick response operations in BARMM. This development follows the recent visit of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, signaling a tangible step forward in the region's infrastructure and disaster response capabilities.
In conclusion, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of continuity and unwavering determination in the pursuit of shared goals.
"We have already taken our first steps. All we have to do is continue what we have started and ensure that we never waver in our determination to succeed," he remarked, concluding the assembly with a call to persist in the collective journey toward progress and prosperity for the Bangsamoro region and the entire nation.
