But M.G.R felt something is not right and found-out the real lyrics writer of the song was Kavignar Kannadasan by confronting M.S.V. Kamal is known for stealing stories like this. Hey Ram is written by my Friend Srinivas Krishna of Toronto with the title of "One More Rainy Day". I was hired to shoot the film. I said Srinivas to Kamal to book him and at that time we were planning to make it only in English. Kamal didnot give us a straight answer and we were waiting for the funds from the Canadian Government. They were delaying it because the lead role person is not a Canadian Citizen. Meanwhile Kamal made Hey Ram. With the same script. I still have the original written by my friend. Next, Wiswarubam was written by my my friend Swamy Kandan from USA with the title Route 96. Script was given to Kamal. Again he stole that one too. Two films from my Career got stolen by him. I am ready to challenge him on this.
He not only cheated ladies, writers' also. His first wife vani kamalahasan(as per record) before giving divorce she wanted to give interview about him in kumudam. He sent ilayaraja to stop vani for giving interview

Mr. Kalaignanam is a great soul but I feel the reason he has chosen to speak now may be because of pressure from Bharathiraja who has political agenda against Kamal. So he might have planned to organize an event for Kalaignanam at that time and asked for exposing Kamal in return.

Thevar magan is Mario Puzo's story. Thevar magan is just the reimagining of The Godfather in Tamil folk background. The flood sequence is from a Malayalam film, 'Vellam' directed by Hariharan. Director Bharathan is hired to direct the film because he is a specialist in bringing the raw human beings of rustic landscape. Kamal Haasan showed the film to his hindi film circuit because he thought he displayed India's caste issues so realistically so that Western markets may applaud it. Because that's what happened with Satyajit Ray, Adoor gopalakrishnan and Mira Nair. While ray and adoor were really great, Mira Nayyar just sold India's poverty to westerners. Kamal wanted to try that route. Anyway nobody in the Hindi circuit liked it but it became a superhit in Tamilnadu.

The film was a hit but not block buster the real hit of that season was rasukutty, thevar Magan had no takers in second run re release but rasukutty did strong for four years

This issue was raised by Amaran interview in Kumudam magazine, when the movie was released. Kamal should give due credit to the original story writer, and atleast make settle the issue now. As emerging politician should be clean and get rid of these habits.
