I used Total Boat’s 2:1 resin with slow hardener and pigmented the epoxy. The floating shelves are made from walnut and hickory.     Great video, Jonny! They’re both just so cool! I think my tendency would have been to put the light colored epoxy with the walnut and the dark one with the hickory, but it turned out great the way you did it too.

    The shelves are gorgeous and the resin part looks simple enough, but if you don't have a shitload of really expensive tools it's a nonstarter.

      Yes but the point is that this beautiful wood which is a resource and took years to grow won't be going into landfill. That's what I took from it.

      @TechStack Reviews yeah you can always replace a table saw with mobile contractor saw which is a light weight cheaper option too im just saying his machines are pretty base line and no where near special i work in a shop with a 53 inch drum sander and a 5 head moulder i think being hyperbolic about the tools he used is silly

      I learned the hard way, my wife called me 4 and half for the longest time after hitting a knot and losing about 1/2inch of my right hand 4th finger😬😅

    Just a little nitpick but the epoxy reaction is always exothermic. You just do not want it to heat up too much to go into a runaway and start bubbling and fuming.

      Considering that that the brand of resin used was the same as the company who sponsored the video, chances are it cost him nothing.

      And Total Boat is one of the cheaper epoxies-inexpensive doesn’t mean bad-I used to use one that cost $140 per gallon-now I use some that is about $50 per gallon-and the best epoxy I’ve ever used (and I’ve used a lot!!)…

    Confused why you need a jig on the table saw? Wouldn't the fence work just as well?

      Bc the edge of the board referencing off the fence is not straight. It would mean your cut wouldn’t be straight.

    They look great. It's a shame to see them as shelves :( You rarely see anything but the edge of a shelf, so it seems like a waste.

    You can also drill a hole in the epoxy and place a LED light inside so that when it is on, the shelves would look good.

      Or... maybe make do with what you have and just create something. I didn’t always have these tools, but over time I’ve invested in my business. I’ve also been driving the same beat up, paid off truck for 15 years.
