Fake check scam | How does it work?

Someone tried to scam me last week. This is the story about that scam.
Please be careful from scammers while selling anything online.

Hey I just got scammed in the above format and deposited the check and now the bank is closing my account as I submitted the check and reported it to them. I don't know what to do as I am an international student here. I also zelled them $500 dollars. Please suggest what to do next. Should I file a police complaint.

I’m getting checks and emails from this guy that says he wants me to do a cleaning job that I’ll be paid weekly they will send a check for me to get my first week pay out and buy other things for the job to do so I’ve been getting checks but the first check my name was incorrect so shortly another came the exact same way then a third one came that had my name correct but this time it was from like a credit union
