was debating on whether or not to pull the trigger on adding this mod and after watching your video. i think i m gonna do it. also i work at a dealership and am friends with the main guy in the paint shop. ill ask him for a favor in painting it to match and ill buy him some beer or something. thanks for the vid.
Picked one up in the packaging still off market place for $20. I sanded it and fixed a few defects in the molding. Sprayed it color match, now it looks right. These are cheap and will require a bit of skill to make them look oem quality. Looks best when painted and secured with nice plastic pushtab style screws.
I really like that diffuser, specially when paint matched. I would have gone with the cheaper eBay one as IKON is basically the same but with Prime shipping. But regardless thanks for the video. Didn’t think one would need to figure out how to install such a simple part, the mounting design can definitely be improved.
This really looks good so I ordered one myself. I'll most likely upgrade the self-tapping screws to stainless ones or retaining clips instead. Maybe also get sturdier metal bars from home Depot if they have any. How's the finish? Do you recommend having it painted or is the matte black smooth and holding up good?
In my opinion, IKON is probably the car equivalent of "Walmart brand". I'm not surprised at all that the kit wasn't good quality. Glad you made it work though! Sure would love to see a POV drive video, especially with that sweet exhaust you've got on there :)
it is the same slightly better quality and comes with a better bracket for the trunk, only thing was you have to get self tapping screws cause the ones they give are silver.
I noticed the NY plates, seems like you take good care of your car. What do you recommend for keeping your car from rusting from the salt (snow)? Especially for someone that moves about every 3 years from snowy conditions to non snowy.
Replaced the OEM diffuser a while back with this one. Here's a how-to for those who are interested.
Thanks for the video I’m still deciding between something like this or just going for the oem piece 🤣
What was the reason for the swap?

Even though I no longer own the WRX, I still sub and come back to your channel
Thanks man I really appreciate it. Hopefully you pick up something every now and then.
good vid. should look good if you paint it. Great point at the end of the video regarding stainless bolts.
Thanks I'll share some pics or video once I paint it.
Did you ever get around to paint matching it? Very interested to see how it looks!

I agree. I think my next video will be a walk through of all my mods. Maybe I'll throw in a POV on that one.
Looks just like the OLM diffuser. I wonder if it’s the same just not paint matched?

Put your car in garage for the winter 🤣 In all seriousness, lookup Fluid Film on Amazon. It's messy, but it's worth it.
@@akqjtn hahaha will do, thank you.
