I like the Halloween decorations as a reminder of when the bombs fell, and the feeling of being “frozen in time” that they bring. But the ones in Sanctuary being unscrappable is NOT lovely. It’s hately.
Tbh, I already kind of wish it was Halloween all year around, so personally I don’t mind the Halloween decorations in the game. World building wise, it could even have an interesting effect on the culture of the wasteland, or how they view the people of the past

I do NOT like how they aren’t scrappable or the new ones they added with that creation club update. I would love more other holiday decorations like when Diamond City goes all out for christmas.

I love love LOVE Halloween, so I'm partial to the Halloween decorations being up. I actually made a bar in Sanctuary that took advantage of the new decorations and the Halloween decor that the location already had to offer. Coincidentally, I also had a ghoul be the bartender. Jack's is now one of my favorite builds I've ever done. But I also do like being in that time capsule. It was just a day. Not Halloween itself but a day leading up to it... and then it all went wrong.
I like the Halloween decorations. I was living in the city center when the Pandemic hit and all the store fronts were these crazy over the top Easter displays for that whole year until shops opened again and it gave me serious end of world vibes. So it feels pretty accurate. seeing Easter decs in shops now triggers me a bit 😂 Also I think this is my favorite build yet 🎃 x

If you can somehow glitch the campfire into the empty caldron it would make a cool alternative to the trash can fire. Also when you make your shops I think it would be cool if one of them sells tar berry wine or juice
I think them being up makes a bit more sense in Fallout 75, which is an earlier game in the canon. However, I LOVE that when Halloween comes around diamond city puts up all the decorations. That’s precious.
I am loving this one! I have mixed feelings on the Halloween decor too. I think we should be able to scrap all of it in our settlements like Sanctuary. In the less “lived in” areas maybe it makes more sense, but after 200 years I feel like a lot of that might be gone. And I loved the Bobs Burgers reference. 😊 Side note: As a person who worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years, I can understand where Bob was coming from. You want to make it on your food. Not a gimmic. And Bob does represent a very large portion of restaurant owners. There are actually very few who make millions off their restaurants. And they’re the ones with their own “companies”. Like The Gordon Ramsey Group or Companies like Cheddars, Applebee’s, and such. Most are just mom and pop’s just trying to get by. 😊
I haven't played through the game enough yet to get here, but I've heard about it. Lol I get so caught up in building sanctuary and the smaller settlements close by. Thanks for all your inspiration.
Arlen Glass has a sad little quest, I hope this build does him justice. If you want to constrain yourself, perhaps you could do a survival playthrough where you find a particular settlement and we all watch it grow from the duct tape and desk fans you collect.
Most people go for a motel build for The Slog, but I like that you keep in mind it's foremost a settlement of mostly Ghouls building a neat little community!
It would seem the Halloween decor is from the free update back in April. I haven't logged into FO4 this year yet to see what new bits and pieces have been put in. Slog is a top three favorite settlement of mine, despite being such a restrictive build space. It's also a bear to try to defend, because that ridge in the back provides cover to The Enemy. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the place.
I love the decorations, and I think it helps tell the story of what the world was like as the bombs dropped, but I always want to know what they made those decorations out of, because they didn't just survive the nukes, they survived 200 years in the weather. Also, Halloween is a lifestyle for me.
As someone who plays the game without paying attention to the main story (I usually mod it out with live another life mods) I do get really weird about finding and eliminating Halloween decorations. I love decorating the worlds according to the time of year- I feel like that's something that is really important post end-of-the-world; it keeps us connected to our pre-war heritage and gives these poor folks in the commonwealth something to look forward to and that can provide hope! And I feel that hope can be JUST as important as say... clean water. If morale is low, camp productivity is low. If productivity is low, then things start to grind to a halt.
Congrats on the 10k subs. I like the black cats decoration since one of my two cats is black and he is my lucky charm. I think the Halloween decorations fit the theme. i wonder if any knowledge/how much knowledge of halloween survives after the war, since the way of life is significantly different post-war. maybe there's a bunch of weird misinformation passed down, or if it's even acknowledged at all. maybe regular wastelanders see a jack o lantern and just associate them with prewar times. either way, sole would be able to enlighten people about halloween. congrats again on getting 10k subs, you deserve it! i'm so hyped to see how you change the slog!

The female ghoul named Holly with the grey hair pulled back in a pony tail has some really…interesting dialog😂 if you have never talked to her give it a try.
You could make a pumpkin patch by glitching carrots into the plastic pumpkins or using gourds and it could not only be the only tarberry bog but also the only pumpkin patch in the commonwealth!!

In Diamond City, NPC's will make different remarks when it's actually Halloween in game and when it's in-game Christmas, there are even Christmas decorations as well. It's a shame it's just Diamond City though, would have been nice in other major settlements as well.
I wrote this whole thing and it totally disappeared. Anyway, in reference to your question, I like the Halloween decorations for two reasons. First, you know those watches from Hiroshima and Nagasaki that all stopped at the same time? There's a sense of the world being frozen in a moment which those decorations represent and I really appreciate that. I don't get that in FNV (which I love), but I DEFINITELY get it in Boston. The other reason is because I wonder what lore people of Fallout came up with to explain all the skeletons, cats and pumpkins. The knowledge of Halloween had been lost. Did they think there was some death cult? That would explain the skeletons. Maybe they thought the cats were some kind of psychopomp? I don't know about the pumpkins, though.
i love the halloween lore like the candy bucket with candy in the pulowski shelter, and the nods to pre fallout (i saw ms rosa’s boy running around in his costume) but the unscrappable decorations do annoy me

I been watching yoir videos for at least 8 months it seems and I've gottan alot of inspiration from them to build my own settlements. You're killing it with the no mods 💯 you should do a raider outpost build for a settlement! I was thinking about turning Kingston lighthouse into a raider base but i already eliminated all the nuka raiders .
you deff need to see my castle settlement if you like realistic AND cozy! managed to get a whole village in there including school, gym, residentials, shopping center, clinic and restaurant and you get your own home, fully decorated! with loads of tiny lil details1
Could you have turned the room in the pool house with the beds into a clinic? I’m typing this as I watch so I haven’t seen if/when you get to it but I feel like that’d be a cool way to incorporate it as a shopping hall. I never got to this part of fallout 4 so I’m excited to see how it goes!
Unsure if anyone has asked this yet but I just wanted to ask if you'd consider making some builds for areas that you can't normally build in using that Mobile Workshop or Workshop Anywhere mod. I know you don't use mods through your builds but it'd definitely be interesting to see what you come up with in some of the non-settlement locations. I really adore your videos so I'm only asking because it'd be even more potential content.
would it be possible to rug glitch a plant into the cauldron? Like stacking multiple rugs in a stair like way and place the plant on the top most one. I think it could look cool

I love what Wasteland Workshop adds (concrete, candles, oil lights, neon signs, cat/dog cages). I waited for a sale and bought the whole bundle of DLCs and I think it was worth it, there’s so many cool things (though I’ve never actually done the Nuka World quests either, for the same reason 😅)

Also sometimes if you close build mode then reopen it I notice you can scoot things closer especially crops!

What I did (inspired by you) was make the unscramble beds into a place for travelers to stay and the interior into a marketplace.
