ProLogic can actually deliver true surround sound (4 or more channels). During audio mixing, additional surround sound information is encoded into stereo tracks using phase and frequency cues. A ProLogic decoder processes this encoded data to separate audio into center, left, right, and surround channels.
If you feed regular stereo input, you won’t notice much effect. However, with a ProLogic-encoded stereo source, it creates an authentic surround sound experience. Without this encoding and decoding, it’s just plain stereo.
To experience this, all you need is a ProLogic-encoded source. Try playing a CD/DVD labeled as ProLogic to hear the decoder in action and enjoy prologic surround sound.
