  • Dent the village with immense natural beauty, stunning scenary and a place to be discovered.
    This video shows you all about Dent Village and the spectaculer sceneries around it.The cobbled street starts at 3.10 min. along with colour-washed stone cottages.I found the chirping of Sparrows,Pied Wagtails,Siskins & Bluetits every where.The chiming of the church bell enhanced the natural beauty of the area.
    Our cottage was at Dent and it was an immaculately presented spacious property with views across the Dale to Rise Hill.
    Dent village was so peaceful and lonely.Not much of crowd was to be seen.The Post Office only opened twice a week.There are only a very few shops to buy food stuff.
    We spent our days strolling through beautiful meadows and lush riverside pastures, or exploring the hills and villages in the nearby Dales and Lakes.I always love to be with rich nature and with peace and tranquility that this place offered.I filmed all these sceneries while taking a walk through the Village.I also went to see a few other wonderful places but didn't film it.Just took photographs only :)
    The story of Dent and Dentdale
    ========================
    Four miles away from Dent village is Dent station - located within beautiful Dentdale. Dent still retains a feel of the past with its cobbled streets and colour-washed stone cottages. During the 18th and 19th Centuries Dent became a major hand knitting centre producing gloves and hose. The 'terrible' knitters (terribly fast and furious) would sit on balconies overhanging the streets, knitting and talking.
    Walking in Dentdale provides the opportunity to see the best of the british countryside, it's wildlife and habitat, and it's changing character throughout the seasons.The Yorkshire Dales and Pennine Cycleways both include Dentdale.
    Discover Dentdale and you will find yourself immersed in natural beauty, stunning scenery, a depth of heritage and the culture of a Dales community that has attracted poets, painters, and musicians for many years.
    Dent Village Heritage Centre reveals the working lives of the dale's people since 16th Century. Inside, the place was packed with artefacts, reflecting life as it had once been lived in the Dale, collected over thirty or forty years by local farmers and owners.
    Adam Sedgwick the father of geology was born in Dent in 1785.

    As a Brit who has never lived in a major city but I am relatively well travelled of the country, I can tell you there are countless villages with scenery and beauty spots and history similar to this. I make it a point to go well off the beaten track and have come across hidden gems that are very isolated. It's such a shame to know that 90%+ people my age have no idea how magical, serene and beautiful this country is. People say this country is overpopulated, which may be true, but in some parts you can drive for hours through countryside without seeing anyone.

    This video brought back good memories. I visited Dent as a child, after my Nan discovered Adam Sedgwick was her great great grandfather. I remember going into the shops and seeing all the memorabilia with his image and name on. My Nan was in her element, god rest her soul 😊

      "Nothing - and I mean, really, absolutely nothing - is more extraordinary in Britain than the beauty of the countryside.
      Nowhere in the world is there a landscape that has been more intensively utilised - more mined, farmed, quarried, covered with cities and clanging factories, threaded with motorways and railway lines - and yet remains so comprehensively and reliably lovely over most of its extent. It is the happiest accident in history" .....Bill Byson US-born writer.

    this is part of great playlist. i;ve seen the rocky mountains, grand canyon,etc, but my heart always takes me back to the soft rolling landscapes of eastern US and these from Great Britain. I just love the blue and whites skys with green foliage and trees below, and overcast days too. did you ever notice how saturated the colors of flowers, blossoms and wildflowers are when taken close up on overcast weather?

    This is one of the parts of Yorkshire that was nibbled off by the hungry counties around and is now part of Cumbria according to modern maps. But we know that occupied territories are never truly lost forever and one day they'll come back home to us.

    This is our land we have not taken it ,nor are we going to give it away ,over a thousand and more years it as taken us to turn it into a paradise for all to enjoy ,but only if you come in peace ,I would rather destroy it than
    let the world ravage it

    • @dinerouk
      @dinerouk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, we had little hand in making it, more like the forces and vagaries of nature, but we did allow it to be largely unspoilt and tried to protect it.

    • @dinerouk
      @dinerouk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We may be giving it away and our custody of it, if the EU empire succeds, for if we are still in it they will try to punish us for our temerity in voting to leave, by creeping dominion, where their EU army has exercises in such places leaving their scars behind.

    except for great old stone houses and walls, this type of topography, flora and trees reminds me so much of central Pennsylvania and central New York state. give me the green grass and trees anyday over the brutish Rockies, canyons and deserts of the western US or elsewhere. the grand on this earth is also so hard, hard to live in be it concrete cities or rocky cliffs, mountains and dry ground. In the temperate regions, at least in spring and summer, just lay in the soft grass and weeds and the shade of so many types trees in the temperate regions of the earth. i would like to go to the tropics but with my heart condition i don't think i could handle the heat.

      +john lewis I remember an interview with actor Peter Sellers. It was filmed on the flat roof of his Hollywood home, in glorious hot sunshine---in February. When asked about his wonderful lifestyle in California he said---What I miss most of all, is English rain, and the four seasons. So we can't have it all--after all.

      Unfortunately Michael the politicians are forcing the villages to build modern houses for the mass and illegal migrants who are destroying my very small country, but our politicians could not care less and of course they do not respect our great history, so in answer to your question it may all be eradicated within fifty years from now.
      I am glad I will not be alive to see the wanton destruction of my country by people who only have people like muslins

    wonderful, the sheep brought my mind back to Thomas Hardy's novel "far from the madding crowd". Just think of the hard work of clearing the fields of stones and making walls out of them and rebuilding and repairing them that has gone on for centuries! Of course the walls of cities against invaders goes back to b.c. times. Although these walls were huge civil engineering projects. In the late middle ages when towns started to break away from feudalism, walls were a project that were local for defense, mark of property, or keep the livestock in. however i think sheep and cows usually come back to the farm or the commons. it was an evil thing for the crown and merchants to steal the commons from the common people.

      It was in Yorkshire until the fake county of Cumbria was created and this and a whole chunk of Yorkshire were swallowed up by it.
