Catching a feed of BIG yabbies late in the season

  • Usually late in summer the yabbying starts to slow right down in my area, and from around mid March onwards it can be really tough going to catch a feed of yabbies. In saying that, some dams will continue to yabby well into autumn for whatever reason.
    There's a very good change that this may be my last decent yabbying video for the season.

    Hello rob
    I love these yabby videos, you my know we have two spices over here , although the American one is an invasive species and is destroying all in its path...and no one really fishes for them , shame because what a feed....🤪
    Mate thanks for that its brightened a very gray and chilly Sunday afternoon...
    Respectfully 😎🇬🇧

    When i lived up there we always said St.Partricks day was the turning point. When the nights start to get that Autumn chill to them the shallow dams get cold really quick, and that my friend is the end of the yabby's. The longer the nights stay warmish the longer the season goes. 👍

    • @robbiefishing
      @robbiefishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. I agree 100%. As soon as the seasons start to change its usually the yabbies that disappear first.

    What a nice bunch of yabbies! Here in the NE USA we still have a little ways before the water warms up enough to go for crayfish. Especially if it keeps snowing like it is nearly every weekend.

    Great video mate. I was treated to a few dozen yabbies last week. I’ve cooked them up and frozen the meat. (The Mrs had already cooked dinner) My mate asked me to keep the cooking water and the shells to use as berly. I reduced it down and blended it then packaged it into 200ml blocks. He recons it sends reddies into a feeding frenzy.
