Gorgeous bus. The Bedford OB has always been my favourite style of bus. Would have loved to hear something about the trials and tribulations of the restoration process.
Beautiful restoration inside and out. Looks quite luxurious with a lovely paint job. Britain's roads are quite narrow in many places, so driving a coach on the secondary roads must take a lot of skill.
When I was a small kid in Reading, utility bodied OB buses (OWB) sometimes were used as "relief" buses by the Corporation- they were Smith's Coaches vehicles. A few years alter when we had our school trip to London, two coaches pulled up outside the school- one was an OB and many kids did not want to get into it as they thought it was an old crock. The other coach was late 50s and forward control! Today, everybody would pile into the OB!
Great Bus. The last time I travelled on a Bedford OB must have been in 1960. The bus to St Joseph's school in dagenham I can still even remember the wonderful smell
Great sight, great sound, great fun and no doubt a great smell of old vehicle if I was there. Credit to the original coach builders and to Mr Machin for saving her. Many thanks
Lost count of the number of miles I've travelled in Bedford OB's as a schoolboy. Great restoration, and even managed to recognise some of the landmarks as I worked in Kidsgrove in the 1970's and lived just outside Crewe
As one of the previous comment said. Very pretty seeing this lovely old Bedford coach on its short run, but it was NOT a restoration, plus the music was an irritation. Better to hear the engine and gear changes AND to see how they got it to this lively state
When I was at secondary school in the 50s I think that it was one of these that I travelled to school in. Until I figured out that if I left for school earlier I could run to school and pocket the bus fare my mother gave me. Beautiful bus though.
lovely bus, from an era when motorists were not neurotic. That and the morris minor, two happy vehicles when people went out and felt happy bright and gay. yes gay ie happy.
GWS 139 Bedford OB Duple C29F Chassis No 111861 Body No 54299 New to Read & Mackay, Edinburgh 7/49 by 6/80 disused with Morris, Cilrew - mobile shop 12/88 Rex Machin, Stoke on Trent - preservation Superb restoration, superb piece of filming, liked the bit where the modern bus pulled alongside. Just happened apparently & not staged.
S J Morris Cilfrew (my uncle) ran a fleet of four OBs in the 1970s. They were always well maintained but coach interiors were completely removed. Great to see one restored - and to a high standard.
I drove one 1947 with a convertible LANGWORTH cattle waggon body ,lovely brakes some moaned about brakes but that was because they were OVERLOADED, If they could get it ON they would take it ??
My nan used to take me on day trips using those Bedford coaches. I had seats near the front so I could watch the driver double de clutch with the crash gear box. The music was a nuisance though.
Thanks for the comment. Check out Tommy Emmanuel, "One day" and "Half way home". Also Emil Ernebro "Honey Suckle Rose". These tunes and plenty more on youtube. Two of the best fingerstyle guitarists you will find.
Splendid video of this lovely old coach- thank you for uploading. Would you have any objection if I were to use fragments of the audio from this and other of your videos as sound effects in a free, open-source non-commercial computer game called Simutrans under the terms of the Artistic Licence 1.0 (opensource.org/licenses/Artistic-1.0? This contains a good, clean recording of a Bedford OB pulling away from a stand. I should happily credit you, of course.
Crazy is crazy I know , happy metal molecules , kind of like holy water, I think the ghost of Richard Wright was riding that bus. Dark Side of The Bus, best bus by boundless boulevards , this bus blossoms with bounteous bounties , for one's brain.
I just LOVE old buses. They are full of CHARACTER! I'm licensed to drive buses, & I'd love to drive this one!
Crash gearbox!
Gorgeous bus. The Bedford OB has always been my favourite style of bus. Would have loved to hear something about the trials and tribulations of the restoration process.
Wow that is such a beautiful classic. The Bedford OB is a bus that makes me smile.
You did an incredible job on this bus. The Bedford OB has always been my favourite old coach. I even love the sound they make.
Beautiful restoration inside and out. Looks quite luxurious with a lovely paint job. Britain's roads are quite narrow in many places, so driving a coach on the secondary roads must take a lot of skill.
Great video. Magnificent restoration of a lovely coach. Love the choice of music too. Would have liked to see more of the interior though.
+Tara McSparron Hi Tara. Thank-you very much for your comments.
the most beautiful Coach ever built three cheers for England hip hip hooooooray hip hip hoooooooooray hip hip hoooooooooray well done to the restorer
One of the nicest Bedfords to drive the OB. I had one as a furniture van.
Amazing….thank you for filming it .
A great restoration; the gasolene powered OB with its signature gearbox whine, a classic.

Great film and, of course a great coach. However, although the music was good, I think it took the sound of that lovely Bedford OB.
Great restoration of a lovely old coach. Well done.
I never get tired of watching this beautiful video !!! Abel, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
great job! looks and sounds terrific!
Well done. Loved them as a small boy in the 50s long they live. Thank you.
Great Bus. The last time I travelled on a Bedford OB must have been in 1960. The bus to St Joseph's school in dagenham I can still even remember the wonderful smell
Fabulous coach; brilliant video; well done all.
This has been really delightful to watch
Excellent work !!! Congratulations from Argentina !!!
Great sight, great sound, great fun and no doubt a great smell of old vehicle if I was there. Credit to the original coach builders and to Mr Machin for saving her. Many thanks
The only better thing than the bus in this video is his smile. 🙏
Lost count of the number of miles I've travelled in Bedford OB's as a schoolboy. Great restoration, and even managed to recognise some of the landmarks as I worked in Kidsgrove in the 1970's and lived just outside Crewe
Beautiful countryside.
BEAUTIFUL, 60 KM/H MAX.
Beautiful bus. Magnificent restoration job!
WOW! Its so beautiful!
Bus looks great, but would have preferred listening to its engine and gearbox rather than the music provided!
What a lovely thing to see. The bus restored to it's former glory and on its way down a beautiful country lane, just as it should be.
As one of the previous comment said. Very pretty seeing this lovely old Bedford coach on its short run, but it was NOT a restoration, plus the music was an irritation. Better to hear the engine and gear changes AND to see how they got it to this lively state
Old childhood memories of Bedford trucks and buses on Indian roads have come back.
Nice to see the old bus driving round, where was the restoration part though?
Nicely done video of the green bus-music was perfect
Lovely! Thanks for posting this!
When I was at secondary school in the 50s I think that it was one of these that I travelled to school in. Until I figured out that if I left for school earlier I could run to school and pocket the bus fare my mother gave me.
Beautiful bus though.
Beautiful well done👍
Trop beau le bus Bedford et bien plus romantique que les autobus d'aujourd'hui qui se ressemblent tous !
Just right!
lovely bus, from an era when motorists were not neurotic. That and the morris minor, two happy vehicles when people went out and felt happy bright and gay.
yes gay ie happy.

Yes, the modern bus pulling alongside at the lights was just a happy coincidence but one of the highlights of the video.
S J Morris Cilfrew (my uncle) ran a fleet of four OBs in the 1970s. They were always well maintained but coach interiors were completely removed. Great to see one restored - and to a high standard.
Nice England !!!
Wow she starts beautifully, a top notch job and a truly classic shape. ps are you the same Rex Machin once a legal eagle of old Liverpool town.
4.35..Yes, I definitely prefer the Bedford...
A bit of British history.... on the move!
Jolly Good..save it for your kids.
I drove one 1947 with a convertible LANGWORTH cattle waggon body ,lovely brakes some moaned about brakes but that was because they were OVERLOADED, If they could get it ON they would take it ??
Please will someone tell me why it is not a restoration. I really would like to know
? it is a restoration

Muy lindo colectivo 10 puntos👍😃💚
I would like to advise to Indian govt. to permit such old restorated coaches.
Cool!
Petrol Powered? That was quite surprising.
Normal for Bedfords of this era.
thank you! people use to care what things looked like. now days? nope
I really enjoyed that video. Love the choice of music and the aerial footage. Are you able to provide details on the music??
Thanks for the comment. Check out Tommy Emmanuel, "One day" and "Half way home". Also Emil Ernebro "Honey Suckle Rose". These tunes and plenty more on youtube. Two of the best fingerstyle guitarists you will find.

In which country can we see this bus....? Actually in India in my childhood days I travelled along with my parents in this lorry type of buses...!!👌👌👌
The film was made around the Alsager area of Cheshire in the UK.
@@BlackcloudRailways thanks for that . As an ex-pat I always look to see if I can recognise the location .

Nice video but it was NOT about a restoration.
Splendid video of this lovely old coach- thank you for uploading.

No problem using the bus sounds. The music was used with permission but is not my copyright.
Splendid, that is very kind, thank you. It was the 'bus sounds rather than the music that I wanted in any event.
I want to hear the bus, not the crappy music
Crazy is crazy I know , happy metal molecules , kind of like holy water, I think the ghost of Richard Wright was riding that bus. Dark Side of The Bus, best bus by boundless boulevards , this bus blossoms with bounteous bounties , for one's brain.
👍🍸😀
Typical dif whine ??
don't think much of your driving crashing the gears, try double de clutching as its an old vehicle not a modern one,
