    By far Pitch Proof was the worst. Did ok on single notes but totally fell over with chords.

      Yeah PitchProof wasn’t that great. And I had high hope for the new STL Tones Droptaver. But they do say they working on a new polyphonic pitchshifter. So that should be exciting

      @lorenmorgan1931 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah all my Floyds are tuned to half step, so I use Agean to tune to standard and if artifacts a ton. The poly capo on the line 6 is indeed the best, I had it on Helix. Now I'm all vst until I get the Tonex. Is this available in the stomp? I would buy one just for that function alone.

    Most pitch shifters seem to be ok up to about two semitones maybe three, I think more than that is maybe asking too much. Great video

      Yeah! I was trying to push them to the max. Most do 2 to 3 semitones fine. But am always super surprised how well Helix Poly Capo handles even up to 7 or even 8 semitones down

    Polycapo still sounds best and I think that's due to the Auto EQ. I sort of managed to make the same result with Petrucci by not bypassing the EQ or even better, creating another selective EQ plugin in between. However, that's too much trouble for something that Polycapo simply accomplishes with a single slider

    Watching for the first time today, and I used the Pitchproof plugin (also for the first time) yesterday. It's not the best but I don't think it's the worst and it's free which is great for my bank balance! What I will say is I noticed artifacts early on and I managed to clean it up by playing around with the settings in the bottom of the GUI. Rather bizarrely, I think I noticed less artifacts when I switched off "Transient Fix". No idea why. Also I noticed that once your guitar gets a certain amount out of tune, Pitchproof really struggles.
    But I'm happy with it for a free plugin, and I see no reason right this second to pay for anything better!

    Great video mate. i got the hx stomp and i was using the simple pitch, now i have to check the polycapo. I trought that the petrucci was the best way to do it becouse i tried the 14 days free sounds so good to me.

    • @GaryHiebner
      @GaryHiebner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I also had a Stomp and was using the Simple Pitch. But then I got some information back from a Line6 user to try out PolyCapo and was blown away. The name doesn't really make you think Drop Pitch. Replace all your Simple Pitch Blocks with the Poly Capo. But it is quite heavy on the processor. So if its greyed out then it means your chain already has too much and an instance of PolyCapo can't be added.

    Great video, and really helpful in deciding where to get my drop tuning from. Quick question though: Where in the signal chain is your pitch shifter? As I understand it, they work best before everything else in the chain, but I'd like to still use my HX Stomp then downtune in the software after. Will this work, or am I forced into vst guitar tones to make this work? Cheers

    • @GaryHiebner
      @GaryHiebner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its best to put before anything else in the signal chain? What are you using to pitch shift down? I can highly recommend the PolyCapo in the Helix Stomp

      @stuartharris-jones9433 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GaryHiebner Thanks for the response. Yknow I didn't actually think the Poly Capo worked on HX Stomp, as it was always greyed out in the editing software. I guess it's just very resource-intensive, as it works on a patch with little else on.... my plan I think will be to get Helix Native (cheaper, since I own the Stomp), and do reverb and other heavy stuff in there, so the Poly Capo can sit on the Stomp at the front of the signal chain. It's that or Pitch Proof destroying everything at the back end of my chain! Thanks for the insight 👍

    • @GaryHiebner
      @GaryHiebner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah definitely try out PolyCapo. One of the better pitch shifters have used but it is CPU intensive. But yeah if you go Helix Native you can add an instance of Helix Native on each track and just use the PolyCapo there and used the Helix Stomp for other tasks.
