  • Tresiba provides long lasting, once daily baseline insulin coverage for both type 1 and type 2 diabetics. It offers the greatest flexibility of any basal insulin. Tresiba continues providing coverage for more than 40 hours which relieves the burden of adhering to a more precise schedule necessary with shorter acting insulin.

I've been a type 1 diabetic for 47 years and have lost track of how many doctors treating diabetes can hardly spell the word. Always good to encounter a doctor who not only can spell diabetes but actually seems to know something about it!

Ive just been prescribed Tresiba after having using insulin vials using the traditional syringe. - Well no more! I already use an quick acting pen so I am used to having a pen.. I will be starting my new insulin tomorrow lunchtime. Once a day injection will be fantastic! I really want to get good control of my diabetes and this seems a great way to manage it :)

For me - 67 years old with type 1 diabetes i have been under good control with minimal complications - until the medicare knuckleheads required me to switch to tresiba - what they dont tell you is that while you dont have to change long term dosage - there is a SIGNIFICANT affect in short term dosing - where do they get these people from ?

Just about to start taking insulin after a couple of years of only Jardiance, first at 10mg upped to 25mg. Doctor prescribed Lantus but insurance will only pay for Tresiba. Will my testing for blood sugar with my meter alwert me to watch for Hypoglycemia? At what number should I be looking for to see if Tresiba is effective and what number should I use caution?

I was on lantus for the last 5 years and using 35 units twice a day my blood sugar was well controlled. On occasions, I will skip the night dose depending on my sugar levels in the evening and what I was having for dinner. Now I have been asked to use Tresiba and I am currently on 50 units and my sugar levels are much higher, both during the day and on mornings, than when I was on Lantus. I feel that I am not getting the best medical advise. Any comments?

Ramesh Maharaj I had almost the exact opposite experience with those two insulin’s. Some insulin’s work better for different people. I’d say contact your doctor and tell them what you commented here.

I’m finding I have the same issue as you. With Tresiba my sugars are very high in the morning

Just looking at the math, on lantus you took a total of 70 units per day. With tresiba 50 units per day. That's a 20 unit difference. I know they are different drugs but you might need to raise the number of tresiba units, but check with you dr first of course. Good luck. This post was 2 years ago hopefully you've fixed your insulin issue by now.
