I remember the first time that this song was introduced to me; my high school bandmates wanted to do a cover of this song by The Doors that I had never heard before. The Doors weren't typical of the type of music that we would cover (we were more into harder rock and roll from the 70's and 80's), but as they started teaching it to me I gave it a listen. I became obsessed with it, especially the live version. Any band that you could consider halfway decent can have so much fun playing this song on stage. I read that it was written after a (long) bender and was originally "I woke up this morning and I'd got myself a beard"
@@drewmcbratney5253 Isn't that something....you learn something new everyday on the internet!
nah it was "I woke up this morning and I got myself a bear.." Jim used to do a lot of hunting. had his own cabin out in the woods.. Alice only suggested he change it to beer because more people drank beer than hunted bears.. true story, I shit you not
My late brother loved the Doors, and he would have loved watching this. I can picture him doing air instruments right along with you. My childhood all over again.
Great band, great song. Loved your reaction! Also check out Break on Through, Crystal Ship, Love Me Two Times, People Are Strange, When the Music's Over, Peace Frog and of course, LA Woman and Riders on the Storm.
Shaman's Blues..love that song..
No one can command a power groove like Morrison.... one of the all time greatest rock singers who could grab the blues by the throat.
Hey Bro,
You gotta do the studio version of George Thorogood's, "One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer"!! If you like bluesy rock....you'll love this....trust me!!
Make sure you pick the studio recording though; it's much better than the live version. Cheers!
Loved listening to the Doors in the 60's drivind between Corpus Christi and Edinburgh Texas working in the oilfields of Texas
With the Doors, you have to appreciate how great they were as musicians...there were only 3 playing and Jim singing. They still amazing me when I sit down and really listen to them. I see you're doing "The End" too... brilliant. They had a short career but what a career.
“The future’s uncertain and the end is always near” He died 1 year after that.
The piano, then the harmonica, then Jim’s voice, and then the guitar... a chain of great sounds. Just bad ass.
It’s about time Jamel!!!
You got to do “Peace Frog”, “Texas Radio and the Big Beat”, “L.A. Woman”, “Riders on the Storm”
G.J. Right Texas Radio and the Big Beat, yes and Cars Hiss By My Window.
Peace Frog... 💯
The Doors is my all-time favorite band. And this song is one of their best. MORE DOORS PLEASE!!!! 🚪🚪
The Doors- When The Musics Over !!!
I was going to say that! Glad I scrolled down. Great song!
Turn out the lights.
It creates its own energy, right there in the practice room or to an audience. I went back 13 years to when I first heard it watching this video, thank you for that.
Love "the doors" my favourite american band and one of my favourite songs by them, so bluesy and sleazy great song! your dead inside if you dont feel this, a real who cares and **** it kind of song.great reaction jamel .more doors please "crystal ship" or "moonlight drive" for reaction.peace ; )
Bro! I love your passion listening to these songs. It’s a breath of fresh air and positivity in this world. I agree- music brings us together.
Keep it up!
The Doors are best live where you can hear them string together seamlessly all their songs.
If Jim was sober enough to perform
On a good night, they were incredible. On a bad night, they were awful. Luckily they documented some good nights.
When you listen to Roadhouse Blues, You can smell, see, and hear, everything in that roadhouse. Great song.
"Lions in the street and roaming, dogs in heat rapid foaming, a beast caged in the heart of the city..the body of his mother rotting on the summer ground he fled the town, went down south and crossed the border, left the chaos and disorder, back there over his shoulder..one morning he awoke in a green motel with a strange creature groaning beside him, sweat oozed from his shiny skin, is everybody in? the ceremony is about to begin.." Celebration of the Lizard King, The Doors, "Absolutely Live" record..
The Doors needed each other to produce their unique and special sound. Individually, they were each great in their own way, but together they were fantastic and complimented one another's performances in a supernatural way. The Doors were a one of a kind group and cannot be duplicated. Love their music, it is for all time!!!
It’s interesting that you heard “do it Lonnie do it”. Lonnie Mack, a great guitar player, played bass on this song. There are people that say Lonnie played the solo. I’ve always heard “do it Robbie do it”. Lonnie Mack grew up in my hometown in Indiana. I’d love to know if he actually played the solo
Sounds like Robbie to me .
Heard it was Lonnie Mack too
"The futures uncertain and the end is always near".....how true are these lyrics man?!?! RIP Jim...your in my heart 4ever
