    At the very end before the title reveals you see the picture of "Zelda" again and the figure she's entwining hands with, and it's pretty certainly the figure from the very beginning. Also they're forming a circle with their hands, much like the ouroboros in the title and throughout the trailer. Personally thinking the figure is Hylia and the clasping of hands symbolises the two being one. Perhaps in this game Zelda will end up turning back into Hylia, and heck, maybe even back into Zelda after, making a new cycle? Perhaps the cycle of rebirth will be broken and Demise's curse ended? Perhaps the title has a double meaning and not just the land of Hyrule but the cycle itself will be teared and torn apart!? THE THEORIES! They're endless, just like the bloody ouroboros! I get it, that's what it means, every Zelda theorist will make a cameo and save Hyrule alongside Link! That's gotta be it.

    5:55 That looks a lot like the imagery seen in the Zonai Ruins in Faron, so maybe this game will be more about the Zonai. It's very possible that "Tears of the Kingdom" relate to the first calamity 10000 years ago. After all, in BotW, no one knows what the Zonai Ruins are supposed to be, so it would make sense that these ruins are actually 10000+ years old and that they have been forgotten.

      I wonder if the masked figure (the one surrounded with 7 teardrops (?) near the start) has anything to do with the Zonai; perhaps they're a sort of leader, explaining why the masked figure would do the weird handshake with Zelda in the mural at the end (the one behind the title).
      Also, as this was originally planned to be a DLC, it would make sense that it'd expand upon a mystery from the first, so yeah.

      There has been an abundance of zonai imagery in each trailer, including making the logo, which makes me believe the kingdom that the title is referring to could be the kingdom of the zonai and their downfall.... they're definitely playing a huge roll in the story, without a doubt!

    Would love to see some traditional dungeons back in the game. Kinda looks like the symbols around the central figure could be large collectible items that are rewarded after a dungeon. Zelda as a franchise is known for having double, even triple entendres in their titles (Link's Awakening has 2, Twilight Princess refers to Midna, but also Zelda, Skyward Sword is especially egregious, it is referencing Fi/Goddess Sword, the Skyward Strike, AND Link being a warrior from the skies), so if they do it, it would have a precedent.

    I think everyone assumes the Zonai will have a bigger presence and I hope they do. From the architecture itself, it’s very reminiscent of the Zonai. Hylia’s religion being lost to time and her looking very much owl like would explain the Zonai’s owl statues. A dragon is actually seen in the trailer too and that leaves the boar…I think we all know who that is.
    What a lot of people miss is that the land above Hyrule not only looks different, but it looks untouched by the Calamity. The structures look like they predate Hyrule, but end up looking much better than most of it as well. The Zonai “banished” from Hyrule. I think they’ve been there the entire time, just out of sight, out of mind. If this is true that means that they have survived the Calamity, which makes sense, again, looking at their structures above Hyrule.

      If I had to guess, it will focus on the relationship between Zelda and Ganon. Those dragons in BOTW were the protectors of each Spring, so I think that they each must represent one of the three in the cycle. The fact that Zelda seems to get taken by Ganondorf early on, and the fact that the hand intertwined with Zelda’s is much bigger, makes me think that it’s going to focus on them specifically. The only thing I can think of that may point to Link is that in one of the other trailers, he has a magic enlarged hand, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

      Combine all these together, and maybe we could be getting the end of the cycle as has been theorized? Maybe the break of Demise's Curse, or something similarly dramatic and impactful?

    • @xmavrekx8663
      @xmavrekx8663 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is why I think this is a time-loop “circling” back to the original Skyward Sword. The symbol of these “uonobos” which represents a cycle/full circle, makes sense of this time loop. We know Zelda games usually involve some sort of time distortion/travel. In Skyword Sword the Master Sword needs to be forged from the Godess Sword. In this trailer, and the previous, we see that the Master Sword is broken/damaged… the re-release of Skyward Sword, to me, seems like Nintendo wants you to know how this story begins because it will ultimately circle back around. Then there are clues such as the “risen city” of Skyloft (which this resembles) as well as BOTW occuring after the “Great War” of Hyrule Warrior: Age of Calamity, which also has Terrako (the mini-guardian) that also travels across time… I feel like this title could either envelop the beginning and the end, bring an end to Zelda games OR, what I believe, close the time loop and start a new, more linear timeline for future games which would also clean up the messy, time-traveling paradox timeline.

    Also! in that same frame, you can see Hyrule Castle raised up with malice (if not, malice-like) tentacle things pouring out, which ties into the end of the very first teaser.
    This gives me the idea that the Hyrule Castle undertemple will be the closed off tutorial area that sets everything into motion.
    And Another thing... The image shown at 0:25 could also represent Ganon, if we consider the position his body was in in the first teaser. Further, the green glowing hand could be the hand of the deity-like figure seen in the first and third shots, but that may be too much of a stretch,

  • @RacingSnails64
    @RacingSnails64 ปีที่แล้ว +53

    My gut feelings, though I'm no Zelda lore expert:
    "The kingdom" in question is an ancient kingdom independant from Hyrule (its "ancestor" if you will) and it's where that all the flying stuff is coming from, which obviously Link will be exploring. "The tears" are some kind of artifact you'll probably have to collect to unlock an important tomb or something, and "tears" in the title is probably an allusion to some past tragedy/ruin as well. I remember waterdrop/teardrop imagery from the previous teasers as well.
    The two carvings holding hands are two important figures from this ancient kingdom, and Link and Zelda are going to parallel them in the present to complete some ritual together and save the day. Possibly romantically. (I just hope we get to spend some time with Zelda in the present lol, I love this version of Zelda.)

      Link and Zelda's relationship, while very close, is everything BUT romantic in BoTW, and it's honestly pretty messed up that the entire fanbase is still intent on shipping them (even though Mipha's existence tried to deter players from that attitude).
      Shipping Zelda and Link in any game but SS is not only creepy but shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the lore and plotlines behind the games. And to be perfectly honest, I don't know why they chose to make SS Link and Zelda romantic in the first place; not only was there zero precedent for it, but it also only seems to have encouraged the Zelink fantasies in the context of other games.

      @@harrylane4 BoTW and Link are shown to be very close in BoTW and AoC yes, but the games try to do everything they can to make it clear that the relationship is not a romantic one. But of course the dense Zelda fanbase had to continue shipping them to the point that the devs came out and outright stated that no, they aren't in a romantic relationship. Not that that should be a surprise to anyone who's played through the rest of the series before, not to mention botw itself.
      The only two points in AoC and BotW that I can think of being able to be taken out of context to the point of hinting that Zelda has feelings for Link is the memory with the Yiga in BotW and the scene where she's embarrassed when Link overhears her talking to herself to terrako. But of course those two scenes are the only thing the fanbase cares about, not the implications of the ENTIRE STINKIN REST OF THE GAME.
      I've never played spirit tracks and thus can't speak to the nature of the characters there, but my point still stands in a general sense.

    I feel like tear could refer to "rip" instead, like Hyrule ripping apart, which makes sense with the islands floating up and the holes being left; Death Mountain also seems to be erupting, which we know is a sign of the "end times" based on the memory with Daruk. The "red wiggly stuff" could be lava from the earth ripping apart. This could be the "end times" since we defeated Ganon´s purest form of rage and hatred and sealed it away in BOTW, meaning that the endless cycle is broken and the world is being destroyed. The serpent eating its own tail is also a commonly used imagery of the end times.
    Maybe the new power of reversing time serves to reverse time before the great calamity of BOTW, or even the reversal to the beginning of the cycle; after all, Link is sporting a primitive, cavemen-like outfit in the shot where he climbs that island, but that´s just my weird speculation.
    So really, "tear" could mean the cry of the destruction of the world, the despair that continuously saving Hyrule was never meant to be, and ripping the world apart, which Link is trying to stop by creating a new cycle.

    Hey Arlo! Love your videos; please keep up the great work and I hope you're feeling better! I just wanted to give my speculation after watching I'm not a huge Zelda Lore guy but the Symbol of the 2 snakes intertwining could refer to The balance of Dark magic from Ganon and the Light magic from Hyrule or Zelda, Maybe the hand in the 1st trailer was an Original Zelda which had to give her life to keep Ganon sealed away for a time sacrificing herself to keep her loved ones and the kingdom safe this might be why the title Tears of the Kingdom is spoilers? Then again I could just be stretching this whole theory out like Mr. Fantastic 😅

    All my friends were texting me today because they know how much I loved Zelda, asking me if I was pumped/excited/stoked. I lied. Said I was in utter bliss. Joyous. Etc. That's what is expected of me, the guy whose body is 30% Zelda focused tattoos. The guy who has played every single Zelda game at least twice, and the very first video game I ever played was the first Zelda on the NES. My mom was playing it, and I was only 3 or 4 years old, but she had this hand drawn map because there were no guides or walkthroughs back then. And she showed me how to play and where to go. And it was fucking magical. The elation I felt when I finally saw the BOTW trailer after years of Zelda Wii U hype was indescribable. And I think a big part of that is we weren't completely starved because we did get Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD.
    But man.. Im just exhausted waiting for this game. I feel like this trailer we should've gotten last year, for the 35th anniversary.
    I'm not unhappy with it. I am looking forward to it and I will buy the game, but the Direct leading up to this reveal was so utterly fucking disappointing that when this finally dropped at the very end, it was more of uh "Oh good, they didn't completely waste my time today." No Metroid 4 or 1 remake. No new Donkey Kong (hoping for a 3D one ala Odyssey style). No new Mario Kart, just more DLC. No Zelda Wii U HD ports to the Switch, again, to tide us over. I just.. Im tired of getting myself excited for major Nintendo releases, only to be let down and flooded with a bunch of no-name JRPGs, and 3rd party crap. The Switch hardware sucks. If I wanted to play third party games, I'd pick literally any other platform than a Switch. I buy a Switch for first party Nintendo exclusives.. and its just been so lack luster.

    Kinda reminds me of the serpent dieties from Ultima 7's expansion. Their are 2 of them warring with each other, and you need to find a third serpent diety that maintains the balance. Almost like in Pokémon, and how Rayquaza dealt with Groudon and Kyogre. Perhaps Lockstin could find some lore folklore that may have served as inspiration.

Makes even more sense when you consider the HD re release. They know a lot of people didn't play if on wii/wiiu and the story mau be connected. Plus the tings surrounding the guardian look very muxh like the tears tou needed to collect to power the master sword...the same sword in which fi resides who could briefly be heard by zelda in breath of the wild.
