alright so basically at first the spider appears there and there probably symbolizing saihara pregame, and shows how hes been walking toward the butterfly i guess saying that he was looking foward with going into danganronpa, as the pregame clip you see and v3 shows you shuichi enroll into danganronpa. but at the end when shuichi shoots pregame him, there’s a scene also where it shows a dead spider and a butterfly alive so i guess that could mean that he killed the other person he was

Ok this is really good work xD AMAZING
I just noticed this after watching this for the 5th time today, but when the butterfly's wings are completely open, the circular designs near the bottom are a "V" and a "3," which is an obvious nod to Danganronpa V3. But what makes it a little more symbolic is that the butterfly is meant to represent in-game Shuichi, and he was part of the V3 game, and that fact becomes even more clear when you take into account the butterfly's markings of the "V3." I just thought that was a cool little touch from the animator!
also, throughout the beginning, pre-game Saihara seems to be almost acting out how he wants his "character" self to act (picking up his costume and moving the sleeves), and when he looks into the mirror, he sees the character he wants to play out in a sense. He seems to believe he is in full control of the outcome of the game. So when his "creation" turns on him, and in-game Shuichi "shoots him down," he seems surprised that it didn't go the way he intended it to, and how different his "character self" seems. Or maybe i'm just reading to much into it lmao
edit: the crumpled pieces of paper (if that is indeed what they are) could also indicate that pre-game Saihara's plans for his "character" were foiled.
This is absolutely gorgeous and deserves so much more attention!!!
