- After a long hard session on a midlands canal with only one small Zander I decided to hit a different stretch. There were plenty of pb fish in there but I was struggling to get them to bite! Until I did this…….

Cheers mate was well chuffed! Think it’s 0.16mm so it’s around 20lb. Sounds like a lot but it’s still super thin 👍🏻👊🏻
that was a really nice session. I've never had much luck with zander, I think I'll focus a few sessions on the lighter gear soon and see if I can't get my first. Keep it up.

I started off fishing there when I was on a quest to catch a double figure Zander from the cut. Only took 6 years fishing in that area and beyond. Had quite a few 5-9 lb fish but managed a 83cm 11lb 8oz fish to conclude it. Awesome fish aren’t they. Most of my bigger fish came to deadbaits but plenty of fish on lures over the years. Subscribed anyway be interesting to see what you can muster up.
That’s a real monster, could only imagine catching one that size! Awesome fish!!! I don’t think most appreciate how much time and effort you have to put in to catch specimen fish like that. The water I fished there took a 2hr drive to get to but was well worth it! Thanks for watching and subscribing, appreciate the support 👍🏻👊🏻

Good stretch that if you have the zed bug you need to visit Amsterdam or ammersfoort on the rivers the fishings incredible had a 69cm and 65cm in the same swim! Cracking video mate deffo subbing!

@insearchofperch8170 hi buddy, I'm in Banbury area so 2 more junctions after Warwick on the M40. I fish the local rivers here too plenty of sport to be had, Zeds in the River Avon aswell.
@insearchofperch8170 they are an awesome fish and there seems to be an abundance of them in the Grand Union, especially midlands. They are 100% now the apex predator of our waterways, better eyesight than the pike
Wicked video well done catching those zeds I no that section well there are plenty of zeds there luckily it’s the only section the CRT don’t electro fish which unfortunately they have started doing again with their corrupt deal they have with MEM fisheries check out next weeks edition of the angling times about stopping the zander cull me and my pal have been on a mission for many years to fight for the zander the pics supplied by myself

Walking the dog is strictly the only method I use when perch and piking on the canal, all about covering ground
Mate it payed off big time here! Can’t believe the turnaround in fortune once I started! Went from one to forget to one to remember!!! And yeah I totally agree pal, cover as much water as possible! @@insearchofperch8170 yeah that's a fair point iv not thought about pal,,,, and it's also the best method simply because you're lures in the water overall alot more and gives the fish a chance to stalk alot longer..... I need to tick a. Zander off my list hopefully get one this season
exactly pal the more time that lure is “active” in the water the more chance you have to catch! You will get one pal, get yourself to the west mids on the day ticket stretches. Always the chance of a good one 👍🏻👊🏻

Cheers Clive it ended up a cracker of a session. The chatter bait I was using was a 7g one off AliExpress. Cheap as chips at around 2 quid delivered so can’t complain! Cheers for watching pal 👍🏻👊🏻

what are the specs on the dexterity? length and casting weight? much backbone? I need a slightly heavier BFS rod than what Im using, lost a big perch the other day
The dexterity is a 0.6 to 8g but has a solid tip so v flexible. If your looking for something with backbone have a look at the majorcraft days 682l bf. Got a hell of a lot of power to it. Supposed to be 2-8g but I’d say it’s more of a 4-12. A lot of power down the blank to stop running fish👍🏻👊🏻
@@insearchofperch8170 same specs as the AG venom by the sounds of it. Probably my next rod will be a Tsurinoya Clever 6' 2-7g. I have an4-12 rod too but it's 6'6 and I like shorter rods in the kayak.
just out of intrest what strength fluro do you use if there are a few pike knockin about cheers
Hello pal. I mainly use 2 diameter fluros 0.20mm on the ul and 0.30mm on the days Aldebaran combo for the heavier lures. I rarely go thicker than that. If the pike become a problem I’d stick on a thin wire like the drennan 7strand in 15lbs. Really thin but still v strong 👍🏻👊🏻
