@@robertvondarth1730 Well, YT recommended me this video, so I guess YT's complex algorithms think I'm smart. Of course if you'd simply subscribed to the channel, this doesn't apply.
I am consider myself as an intelligent person, how ever, I know I’m wiser than most of people especially those in my age, without my wisdom , I couldn’t be happy, I understand deeper the meaning behind things and able to realize the situation I am, awareness. It should go together, because it’s not enough for you to be smart , but also to know yourself, what is the problem and how solving it will help you find your way. When you get over those problems, you can manage to find your true happiness and personality. Of course, being able to show your true potential.
There's a lot to disagree with in this video. In my opinion, highly intelligent people are aware od their flaws, they're open to other perspectives or opinions and they always know there's something new to learn. If someone considers themselves as superior to others, they're just ignorant. Nobody is ever right 100 % of the time.
Over all, this sounds more like the struggles an arrogant person may have or someone who comes from an upper-class background. For example, perhaps they are not used to helping with chores--they may think they are "above" that or something. Supposedly, I have a high IQ and I don't relate much. For instance, I still like to read directions, enjoy doing chores and socializing for the most part. I think that part of my quest for knowledge is driven by knowing that there is always more to learn. I don't believe that being smart is thinking you already know it all. That's another problem typically ;)
Yeah, in my experience, those who proclaim their intellect is above average seem to exemplify the “Dunning-Krueger” effect. The most strikingly intelligent individuals I know are exceedingly humble, with an insatiable appetite to understand.
But i think it depends of person i mean there's a people think they are intelligent and it's true, also there's a people think they are intelligent but it doesn't... It depends of everyone's self and social awareness...
I consider myself a highly intelligent person and i can tell you that being intelligent is DEFINITELY not enough. It's the aggressive dumb pack mentality person who gets the furthest in life Intelligent people are often forced to live in their basement Just saying
Yup I'm starting to realize this considering I've struggled to finish my 4 year degree in software engineering and have found myself feeling trapped in my parents houses (newly divorced) ... and I say I feel Trapped cuz there are many different stipulations (many in which contradict each other whether it be between the same parents demands or between each other's demands), and all work against any goal I tend to conceive that I believe is best suited in helping me move out and gain independence as fast as possible ... and that's important to me because especially being around my mom it's impossible for me to go about my goals when she controls my life. Like even in me trying to just get a job she's the type that her support is highly conditional and has to be done her way under her influence and under whatever help she deems is necessary. So she thinks her planning my future is in my interest when I don't need that help and know what to do for myself. But if I tell her that she's highly narcissistic so it'll only lead to me getting kicked out and sent to my dad's who since they are recently divorced he just recently got a house but is financially not stable from my understanding and should I get any job I'd be expected to help him pay off shit which would delay me wanting to live alone from them. And my issue with him is he has spiraled into some hopeless romantic dumb fuck phase where he pays shit ton of money he doesn't have to meet with some foreign chick and he also paid big money for a house even though again he was having financial troubles post divorce cuz of my mom. So I've been stuck long story short ... and I do feel like I'd now be considered stuck in someone else's basement. But I definitely blame my parents cuz I'm often very self propelled and tend to enjoy taking on new hobbies or activities or anything that provides a new avenue for learning in life. But recently I've felt reluctant even to take phone interviews for some jobs because I don't feel qualified for the jobs I'm forced to feel like I have to apply for. And I could go on a separate rant about how dumb I think "selling yourself" to land a job is and how bullshit it is that most jobs of value expect experience when most people don't start off with experience. Like it's brain dead to me but I can go on with that so I won't. But idk if I'd qualify as intelligent in a typical sense where you have great memory and a large knowledge base. I do believe myself to be very creative and have a highly analytical mindset. I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses. Like I am terrible at reading ... slow at it and I tend to have to reread things. This I believe to be due to how severely ADD and scatterbrained I am. And that has actually been a major issue in my education. Also leads to me being deterred from every doing long mundane shit like the video mentioned ... like I rather just jump into the deep end of a pool and drown then to wait through tutorials or read text books especially in a world I grew to realize is impatient and doesn't wait for you to develop. Well at least how my household has always made me feel. There is a societal pacing I've noticed though regarding education that I believe to be off putting but again they just want the quickest deployment of people to join the work force rather than people fully understanding the material they are taught which I get it. That was a tangent ... but yeah basically all this to say I agree with your point
@@matthewcuriel991 You're justified in blaming your parents it's just not going to get you the results you're after. I love this video. Some intelligent people do engage in competition and are extremely competitive. I will say though that, in my experience which means little this is not the case. Most intelligent people are not competitive but they are self-motivated expecting more of themselves than the average person, but that depends on what we are defining as competitive. They are usually not even aware of what other people trying to out do other people. Obviously, this could be good or bad, but it should not be confused with the way most people understand as being competitive.
I am curious about how you define "success". I guess that you equal it to social validation, money, status or a good job. These things need social skills besides intelligence, for sure, but for me success has a very different meaning. As a piano student, when I set a goal to play proficiently a Mozart sonata within three months, if I put the hard work and I achieve my goal, I am successful, and it has nothing to do with social validation or material gains. I think an intelligent person values knowledge in itself, just for the pleasure of learning and understanding the world. When Newton began to study Physics, he didn't pursue fame or prestige. His aim was to understand how the world worked.
I believe true success is not connected to socioeconomic status. True success can only be achieved on a personal level. If you proficiently play a Mozart Sonata after months of training, it will be the most gratifying feeling. I personally devote myself to learning complex writing systems and spoken languages. Most things that you or I may work towards on a daily basis would mean nothing in the everyday world of average society. With that being said it is extremely frustrating, due to self doubt that you have not achieved “success”. Most people on the daily basis will define their success by gratification from their peers.
Fact is that Intelligent and genius people are the one who is developing our world right now. But when it comes about development of society and politics, yes I dream for that too
