My best playthrough as a kid was making it to level 5. Once we learned about the level skip, I beat 6 and 7, but never managed to finish 5 or 8. On 8 you have only 13 spare seconds per checkpoint if you're going top speed, which is basically 1 free crash per segment. I should replay this sometime.
There's a piano piece you can play in Final Fantasy III that seems like it might have the same chord progression as the ending, but they're not really the same tune.

i played this game so much as a kid. by far my favorite driving/racing game of all time
This game reminds me so much of Out Run on the SEGA Master System! That one also involved driving a red Ferrari.

Roads were so much flatter, straighter and more unidirectional in the 1980s. Take me back to that simpler time.
This seems like it would've been an incredibly fun tas to put together. The final product looks absolutely insane.

Tip for real life driving: if you are having trouble getting around a turn, just sideswipe the car next to you continuously. That should help. 😂
