    I owned two Road Glides over a ten year period and rode them all over the US. Best Harley's I ever owned, I loved them. I'd still be riding my 2016 RGU today if I hadn't test ridden the 2018 Goldwing I have now.

    I love my 15 Road Glide Special. 40k miles and still going strong! One other benefit to the frame mounted faring is that it does not move whenever you turn your tires. That’s helpful in low speed maneuvering situations that you don’t have the weight of the faring to deal with.

      Having had 2 RoadGlides prior and now having an ElectraGlide Ultra that is the main thing I have noticed as the difference between these bikes. For me I get better wind protection behind the batwing but I think that’s because I’m closer to it. Love em both though..

    I have a 2021 Electra Glide Standard with the batwing fork mounted fairing. I haven't felt any turbulence or shaking in the bars yet. I even took a quick trip to Mexico and had it up to 110 mph.

    • @pwntwtf
      @pwntwtf 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had 2 Electra Glides and a Road Glide, and have ridden several Street Glides. The difference in turbulence is so little, it all comes down to what is more visually appealing to you. I prefer the RG as a tall guy because the fairing is farther out there. But wind buffeting, for me, comes down to my head, and which windshield I'm running. That's it.

  • @vincek6613
    @vincek6613 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think you nailed it, chief. The power, comfort, extra amenities and the after market. I think one thing, that I don't think you mentioned, is the bigger presence on the road. You, or any rider, is more than likely going to be harder to see on bikes like nakeds or slim sport bikes. But a big bike with a wide fairing and a couple of bruiser saddle bags sticking out on each side are going to be more eye catching in my estimation.

  • @mindspinn311
    @mindspinn311 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For me it’s base Road Glide vs Electra Glide Standard vs Road King. I like them all for different reasons, but my instinct tells me that overall and especially for long trips I would like the Road Glide more. I’ll test ride them eventually.

    Working in a shop and getting to ride all sorts of different bikes daily, road glides are by far the best bike to jump on even being vertically challenged! So easy to maneuver even after installing 13.5in legends on them! Now finding one in my price range is a different story 🤣 I’m sure I’ll have one in the next couple years though for sure

    To each his own I guess. Everybody I know that has performance upgrades on a motorcycle and trust me bro over the last 40 years I have met several have told me the same thing they are always looking to get the thing tuned up just right it always seems to be not quite tuned to its full potential and it seems like they have their bike in the shop way way more than the dude who just leaves his bike alone and maybe put a pair of slip on pipes on it or something but doesn't mess with the factory tuning.
    That being said I get it you guys are pros and can probably nail it down and add horsepower and torque and all kinds of performance without the person having to spend his life doing maintenance on it nonstop I get it.
    Nonetheless for me personally if two were sitting side-by-side and one had a bunch of performance mods and the other one was stock at a dealership I would probably buy the stock one.
    But then I am one of them outcasts that also not only do I not want a frame Mount fairing I don't want a permanently mounted fairing on the handlebars.
    In Ohio there are a few months out of the Year where I just really don't want a windshield on my bike at all because it's hot enough I don't want it.
    I would think being in Florida you guys would have like I don't know 9 or 10 months out of the Year where that windshield is just unbearable.
    Again though that is just me everybody is different and like you said them bikes are popular so the dad bod of Harleys is selling so you might as well go with it.

    • @ericsuperhawk
      @ericsuperhawk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a double-edged sword.
      What happens is when somebody is ready to buy their retirement bike that is going to be a lot of money they just don't feel like throwing that at a metric Cruiser they want to buy something American-made. I don't blame them I totally get it.
      The fact that a used one is still expensive is a good thing not a bad thing Man it means it holds its value.
      The fact that it holds its value also helps open up a world where there is just a plethora of aftermarket parts and things and stuff if you need to fix that bike.
      If you buy a twenty-year-old Honda on the other hand sure it's going to be a lot cheaper but if there's something wrong with it the labor hours are going to cost just as much to fix as it would on a Harley. Then you turn around and try to sell it you discover your bike is still only worth $900.
      My advice would be as you are learning to ride a motorcycle maybe your first two or three motorcycles when you are young even go ahead and enjoy the metric world.
      We have all been through that stage where we have a ninja or a GSXR and then we move up to a Stratoliner.
      For your final bike though you're going to want something made in America right?
      Just trust me when I walk through my garage in the morning I look at my motorcycles I really do feel like they add value.
      Everyone is different on that, that's just where I have found myself Landing.

    I bought my road glide mainly because the fairing is frame mounted, as well as the look of it, it looks so sleek and sexy compared to a street glide. I am pretty tall so I did have to change the seat and the bars right away. The stock seat just had me cramped up a little too much on the controls and the bars had too much angle on my wrists.

    That’s a myth about feeling wind at speed on a street glide. I’d say if you were to feel the fork mounted fairing anywhere. It would be at low speed maneuvers. I never had any complaints in that area. But it might reduce your ability to change of direction at low speed if you struggle on big bikes. Personally I’m happy went down to a softail standard because I find it benefits my riding style better. I think if I was to start touring I’d probably leave Harley and get a adv bike. I do have a deep love for the road king but I just don’t see myself ever spending $20k+ on a Harley again.

    I plan on getting a road glide. As soon as I win, and you send it to me 😁. But if for some unthinkable reason I don't win I'm going to get a Harley bagger in the next couple of years. Just haven't decided what model yet 🤗

    Send your motor to Fuel moto in Wisconsin , and make it a 128. It will tattoo any 131 from Harley. Nice ride , Road Glide will replace the King in. Few years

    How tall do you think you would need to be to ride this comfortably. Do you think I would have trouble at being 5"6?

    I have always wanted road glide the past 10 yrs so in november 2021 I bought a new Road Glide Limited at the dealer I bought my last 2 bikes, as a repeat customer I got a more than fair market price on my trade in, and I ended up buying one Painted in the River Rock Denim n Black denim and engine n chrome blacked out as well, I wanted it all go and not show, as I love the subdued look and its beautiful to me , Does anyone know how many 21 ultra limited came in River Rock Denim? Im just curious as I looked some for this answer but couldnt find it yet thanks

    Can it be built for a short person? lowering suspension reach seats etc. for a 5’5”-5’6”

    Another good reason would be functional mirrors from the factory! I just bought my first bike a 2015 iron 883, and the mirrors on the factory bars do nothing. On top I just see my shoulders, so I tried putting them under the bars and I can't see anything either!!

    I’m really torn between a road king and a road glide. I want the comfort, but I don’t know how I feel about the fairing. Music isn’t a big deal for me and I really dont mind the wind. I’m on a dyna wide glide right now. I’m leaning towards the road king.

      I literally walked into the dealership wanting a RKS. They didn’t have any in stock in January. They gave me a deal that was hard to pass up for Harley dealership on a RGS. I didn’t knOw if I wanted the fairing either. But been riding a few months now and have zero regrets. Whatever parts you have changed out, though. Make sure you keep them. Don’t let the dealer keep them. They gave me push back when I wanted my old slip ons and handle bars. I’m finding during the summer I like the stock windshield because I want more wind to hit me. Also I’m 6’5”. Which ever you choose. Enjoy man! They are fun

    As a road glide owner. I'd avoid the Sony ax7000. It's not water proof and thr sun glare off it is horrible. Finding a used HD 6.5gts and adding an amp and upgraded speakers is a better option
    Having rode many miles on a road king. A street glide and my road glide. The road glide you don't feel the wind force through the bars. You feel the wind shove the whole bike around though

    Why was it so windy.I have a 2020 FLHCS and just done the #WRPR (5700 miles total) and the wind was a huge issue.You'd think that bus of a fairing would cut out more wind.

    The reasons I'll be making a Road Glide my next: 1. Broke my hip and back in a collision with my Fat Boy, need something softer-riding. 2. I want one.
