gabby honey when you are buying expensive important things(things that last forever) for the house like flooring it needs to be classic ..this white flooring is IN fashion now but in 3 years it will look bad ..you can change table any time but you cannot change flooring that easy..unless you are sleeping on money... and also you should definitely have the same flooring everywhere, you will hate everything after a while if you do different flooring everywhere TRUST ME....
The thing is, the white floor looks nice. For a month, maybe two. And then it gets scrapes and it gets worn and it gets colored weirdly by the sun. More natural looking wood never goes out of style because it changes in a way that's livable. When you buy flooring, you have to think about it lasting. "Will I still like it in 10 years?" Sure, we can buy new flooring if we hate it, but ideally, flooring should stay until it can't for other reason (worn down, broken up etc). Natural wood also warms up the room in a way nothing will. I would look into HQ high-pressure laminate. It won't get marks (claws, furniture movement etc), it can take water spills everywhere, and it comes in many different variations. It will last. Either way, just make sure you don't pick any flooring that's too yellow-y, and I don't think you can go wrong when it comes to color on furniture either. This from someone who didn't buy the flooring color she really wanted, but the one that made the most sense overall that she also really liked ;) I so get it, but there's just a lot of factors to think about. It's also hard choosing when you don't LIVE there yet, you haven't felt the rooms and seen the kitchen up, or seen where the light hits things. I bought a 4 meter long couch for a 4 1/2 meter long living room. Thinking it'd be nice along the wall. Nope. Also, marble is so beautiful, but make sure to ask wherever you want to buy from, about how that specific one holds up and how it's been treated. Marble is usually "open", it breathes and thus if you spill something (esp colorful things like fruit juices, wine etc), it stains easily and it will not come out. Which would suck for such a beautiful material as marble. Ask for a stone that's more durable (silestone perhaps?) but that's made to look like marble, it can be done. Also, for handles, places like Superfront has really nice ones. I have similar ones to the ones you didn't like (but from IKEA), and yeah, they are awful. I've ruined several headphones, t-shirts and pajama/jogging bottoms from catching on them. Good luck on the search for your home, it's SO fun, but it's hard to pick. Just remember that you don't have to have everything done. If you can't decide... let it rest for a bit. Get what you absolutely need (bedroom ready and maybe bathroom and kitchen), everything else can wait.
I think that darker worn floor was gorgeous!! Much prefer that and I think it would look so nice with clean white walls and kitchen compared to having white floors as well!
Actually living for your house vids- I think darker wood in the kitchen would be so fit especially because you could use area rugs/runners to brighten it up a tad!! xxx
that last floor you showed that was a bit worn was so pretty, that together with white will look great and you will still have the "scandinavian" feeling :) / julia from sweden
i think a worn vintage-looking wood would really contrast (in a good way) with the white of the kitchen! I have that kind of wood in my bathroom and a white suite, it makes it look so clean but not sterile x
IKEA has the best kitchen ranges for the best price around! They come with a 25 year guarantee, they have so many storage options, their quality is actually insane! I put in an IKEA kitchen in my old flat and I was so sad to leave it. Everyone thought it was bespoke and designer. Just bought my first house with a brand new wickes kitchen, and I hate it. Will definitely be going back to IKEA for the new one! Customer service is fantastic too!
I really recommend investing in good quality hardwood floor. I’ve had dark brown wooden flooring in my house for 13 years and it still doesn’t look old. Timeless xxx
Gabby, The color is called Brass for your mirror. Also check out porcelain for your countertops it looks just like marble but is must cheaper and it comes in slabs. So excited for you.
Around 4:08 the dark grey kitchen is gorgeous! and would go with white floors so go white floors everywhere and the kitchen in the background around 4:08 in my opinion ❤️❤️
I’d always go for tiles in kitchens....so easy to clean and can get so many different types...you can also get tiles that look like wood as well, and that’s probably less likely to discolour with use xx
A dark wooden floor in the living room would be amazing, especially because it ages well. White wooden floors age incredibly badly. I had them and in the five years I lived there I had to get them treated twice because I couldn't get the stains and scratches out and it was so expensive.
Gabby, I used to work as a kitchen designer at Wickes and the cupboard you loved is a 500mm Pull and Swing Larder! Its awesome, a real big seller and well worth the cost 🙌🏻
the worn wooden floors look gorgeous! the lighter parts will mask Nellie's fur for sure! We have a similar coloured floors, ashy light brown (ours have some darker grains, though), and the white fur of my cat is practically invisible.
I love the idea of having white flooring but.. the darker worn wood floors looked gourgeous. Maybe it's a good idea to have white everywhere else but the kitchen/living room. Btw, you're style and taste is so beautiful!
rust oleums universal spray paint in "pure gold" looks exactly like that! I expected it to be a brighter more garish gold but, it came out a GOOORGEOUS matte lighter gold just like the sign!
I think you should get a darker wood for the living room and kitchen because that way the floors will be easier to maintain and I also think the distressed wood is really cool ☺️
Everyone that i know who has white flooring has said they loved it at first but after a while they were just constantly cleaning the floor as it showed up every mark. Personally I really like the look of the worn floorboards. White you also have the issue that anything else white against it looks weird.
A good thing to do for picking floor, cabinet colors.......Look up white cabinets, distressed floors, brown floors, white cabinets.......look at lots of pictures before choosing...
My house has oak everywhere apart from bedrooms but then we just break the oak up with nice rugs so if I were you I'd go white when get some rugs to break to up and make it cosy! ❤️❤️
You should go for the white because it seems like it's what you really want! Buying a house and redesigning it is my dream, so congrats you deserve it :)
The cheaper white option looks very nice, maybe when you see it throughout a space it'll look whiter? And the worn out wood one is beautiful as well, this is SO TOUGH idk how you'll pick gabby😂
I'm not even joking your vlogs are the only ones I watch religiously and moving/decorating vlogs are my favourite so I'm so excited for your moving/renovating vlogs (I really hope you're doing them?) Xxxx😍❤❤
I love the white IDEA!!! It’s GORG and so unique, I haven’t seen that much so maybe that’s why it’s hard to find. I can’t wait to see how you decorate!
I prefer kitchens and bathrooms to have tiled floors and wood for the rest of the house but it's up to you ultimately gabs, but yes love the white wood for everything!
Hey Gabs, I think the darker flooring would look better in the living room and kitchen! Probably with white kitchen cabinets! Can’t wait for the upcoming vlogs for your new house!!! 💖xx
early! Been loving your vlogs recently and have noticed how much happier you are, love you loads gabbs❤️ going through a tough time at school and your vlogs always cheer me up xxx
I think you should go for that darker wood, it would look awesome either with white furniture or even with black and your house would look very classy and fancy. I think that white floor is nice but for 2-3 years, then it would definitely stain a little and this would drive me crazy. Also you should go for the same floor in the whole house, because then it looks more put together. xxx
you should do white everything in the kitchen but have a light wood flooring, I like the one you had in Wickes and it was a better price!!! I like that you can still have that Scandinavian look with the darker floors, pinterest pinterest pinterest! lol
Legit feel so proud of you for being able to buy a house from doing TH-cam! & I’m glad I’ve been able to support you through it❤️ also think you should have something different in the living & kitchen 💖
I always get so excited when I see your back in Sheffield! How's the decorating going? 😊 I definitely need to visit Brighton sometime - I came down years ago but would love to revisit. Have you done a video on your favourite places in Brighton? 💘
I would personally go with the darker wood, I like the vibes more, seems more timeless and chic! I think going with different floors is just fine (and if its on different floors I do not see a single reason why not). In a few years time you'll be living your best best life! (I know that this is a very random comment but I thought you should know 😉)
Honestly, I wouldn't get pure white for the main living spaces, for practicality reasons. If you get pure white floors in the kitchen and other high-traffic areas, within a couple years, they'll turn grey where you walk on most (like near the sink, stove, doorways, corridor, etc.). The off-white (at 2:05) can give you the same look without it changing colour over time.
you should watch FIXER UPPER! Its a married couple from Texas, they sell and redo houses. Love how they fix up houses, maybe you can get inspiration from them.
The thought of white flooring gives me so much anxiety, more power to you!!! I personally don't think you NEED the same color flooring throughout your house if you like more than one option. I think mixing patterns/metals/tones is cool, but thats a personal taste and it could be different for everyone. You could always limit the expensive white flooring if you chose not to have it throughout! Watching vids like this makes me so excited to one day decorate my own home! (I'm in college in a rented apartment now, so there's only so much I can do lol)
As a girl working in a building / home center, please invest in a more expensive option for the laminates. The price is because of the coating on top, those will last you forever. Also don’t forget the lining underneath the floor! 😋

That mirror is gorgeous!! I'm so desperate for white flooring too for the hallway and kitchen but I can't find what i want anywhere! The struggle :(

At the beginning I was like: "Have I gone deaf?"
Katrina G. SAME! i was so confused😂

yes the second paint colour will look lovely

Also I love that big double butler sink!
Gabby, I used to work as a kitchen designer at Wickes and the cupboard you loved is a 500mm Pull and Swing Larder! Its awesome, a real big seller and well worth the cost 🙌🏻
I would definately do the darker floor if I were you, because I had white floors myself and could just keep cleaning. And it is way more cosy😊
the worn wooden floors look gorgeous! the lighter parts will mask Nellie's fur for sure! We have a similar coloured floors, ashy light brown (ours have some darker grains, though), and the white fur of my cat is practically invisible.
Pikelet and Bean are so freaking adorable 😍 Lily reminds me of my cat! He’s sucha cow but it’s hilarious

Three of my favorite things!!! Cats, home decor and Gabriella 😽❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m so exited for your new decor! Love the white flooring as well. Your moving/decor vlogs are always my favourite to watch
I think white floor would look gorgeous everywhere even in you kitchen maybe add some wood decor to even it out. Loved this video Gabi 💕
I like the distressed (worn looking) floors with the white cabinets and brass/gold drawer pulls and handles 😍
A good thing to do for picking floor, cabinet colors.......Look up white cabinets, distressed floors, brown floors, white cabinets.......look at lots of pictures before choosing...
I mix and get bored of youtubers a lot but as soon as I see your vid pop up I drop everything and just watch, your so realistic and funny❤️
This makes me so excited as me and my partner are moving into our first place together in October and just can’t wait to buy home pieces 🙌🏻
Darker floors in the living room for sure! Would go so well with white floors too
My house has oak everywhere apart from bedrooms but then we just break the oak up with nice rugs so if I were you I'd go white when get some rugs to break to up and make it cosy! ❤️❤️
I just can’t wait to decorate your new house with you 😍 it is so exciting

It might be cheaper to purchase new floor boards or simply paint the floor boards in your new house, white! Xx
I’ve literally just got to work 😭 I’ve been waiting for this omg ☹️ I’m watching this AS SOON AS I get out! ❤️❤️
The distressed flooring is a classic and will look good forever. The scandi floor gets dirty SO FAST and oh my god it'll drive you nuts.
I love the white IDEA!!! It’s GORG and so unique, I haven’t seen that much so maybe that’s why it’s hard to find. I can’t wait to see how you decorate!

I think you should go for that darker wood, it would look awesome either with white furniture or even with black and your house would look very classy and fancy. The white floor from the first shop will be worth the money as it is a house your buying so you’ll keep it x

What kind of floor does your new house have? Might you be able to re-condition floorboards and paint them? x
Love watching ur vlogs, I watch them every single day xx

Oh What u can do is go b&Q and take that inspire decoration take it to b&Q and they will make a paint or spray paint THE SAME COLOUR AS THE DECORATION
Krylon 14k gold is that color. Used it for my wedding decor and love it
'there's a snake in my boot' love you gabs 😂💕
As a girl working in a building / home center, please invest in a more expensive option for the laminates. The price is because of the coating on top, those will last you forever. Also don’t forget the lining underneath the floor! 😋
In the USA the brand is called “Rustoleum” and they make a gold spray paint that is the color you like.
Loved the vlog
DO WHITE EVERYWHERE! Honestly you will regret the darker one after a time and you can combine white with basically everything!
