- You have to try this card making background technique! Mixing Shaving Cream with Masking Magic creates the most beautiful backgrounds! This fun technique is easy to do and all you need are a couple of reinkers, some masking magic or low tack washi tape and some dollar store shaving cream and you're ready to go. I threw together a card at the end, but this one is really about the technique. I hope you'll give it a try!

Wow that is so awesome !! Love the sun one !!!
very pretty card... Love it! 🤩
I will try this technique for sure. I think I did this technique years ago! Love your color choices. ❤❤
This is such a fun technique! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Beautiful cards, can’t wait to try xxx
I watched this on replay and liked it so I could go back and watch while I craft. Thank you Gina for doing these techniques again. It helps when mojo is lacking. Gina and Tom you are the best!!
Love the made up card and the other 2 card fronts
Watching the replay...I simply love this technique. I've used that idea some years ago...so great to see it used in this way once again. Gina, you're the master of creations with card designs. Thanks for all of your ideas. I have learned so much over the past couple of years. Happy 2024 to you, Tom and your lovely family.
Tom: " Is it working".... 😂😂😂 Exactly what my husband would say to me!! I absolutely love the banter and relationship you guys bring to the video 💗
So happy Tom is playing his guitar!
I love the crisp lines! Gina, you’re very creative and I love the inspiration!
:) this was fun to watch... & shaving foam is a real 'clean mud pie' kinda substance + i agree children of all ages(0-90yrs) would enjoy such a creative make. Thank you.
30 years have passed since the first time I did this with my granddaughters. I’m so glad it’s coming back. Liking the idea of a new twist! Ah! New twist is awesome!
I know I said this before, Gina and Tom, you two are so cute and funny! I love this method and how cool it turns out. Each time so different, exciting, the feeling of a new discovery. Thank-you
You have answered my questions in the video 😂
I do love your art creations..so clean looking. Love your sweater and your hair is looking so healthy. Tom's and your chemistry is so refreshing.
Great video. A trellis die cut of masking magic might be easier than strips.
Everything old is new again - love it. You could use a back ground die cut of the Masking Magic to save time too.
Food coloring also works well. Used Dollar Tree canvas - did this with at risk teens - so much fun!!!
Great idea to do with kids!
I learned the shaving cream/reinker technique probably 20 years ago. My friend and I went crazy making backgrounds. My friend actually came across a few she had left while rearranging her space
When I learned this technique we just put the card stock down without and masking. Now I will have to make some more
This was a lot of fun! I like the shaving cream technique! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks tons❤❤❤
I was thinking you could do the shaving cream background, and if you have a nice background die that you could cut out and put on top of the shaving cream layer, that would also be very pretty
I missed Tuesday nights live- so 1st thung Wednesday morning im watching replay
Would be fun to make a bunch of shaving cream backgrounds and put them in your stash for when you are in a hurry.
Using the shaving cream is fun.
Cool technique, can't wait to try. Thanks so much for sharing. Love your videos.😊
Love seeing you play. May try this with a stencil and pixie spray.
Works great with stencils!
Loved
Love it. I forgot about the shaving cream technique 😊
I keep saying Tom needs to write a word/phrase of the day book. I would definitely buy it!
Watched on replay. Love this technique! It is totally new to me. Beautiful cards!
Awesome new technique Gina!! Looks like lots of fun!!!
Awesome technique Gina. Thank you so much. This would help us with making guy cards, as well as working for cards for all.
Beautiful, so creative. I've got to try this technique
I think the butterfly on the circle base looks like a face. Love this technique.
Might want to embiss a stamped piece and then put in shaving cream to keep the design crisp.
my favorite mascot is the butterfly
this so cool and so pretty will need to try this. shared video to face book
I’ve done this years ago, fabulous for a unique design… love it done with the reinters….. 🌹😊
We used to dip the paper on top of the colored shaving cream and scrape it and let it dry. These turned out beautifully!❤
Great card ❤
I love the sunshine one 😊
Hi, Gina! I watched the replay. Thank you for sharing your techniques. Happy New Year! 🎉😊
Love this! So many possibilities! Wonder if stamping and heat embossing the card/butterfly first would work? Will just have to try it out! Thanks Gina
Very pretty. I've got to try that. So fun.
What fun
You make the most beautiful cards Gina. Also can you please share what tray you use to store your lnk cubes?
Thank you! I use the ink cube trays from Organizemore.com. I am not sure if they are still available but you can reach out to them to see when they will be producing them if they aren't on the site. XO
Thank you!
Such a pretty card
I did this amazing technique yrs ago and forgot. Thanks for reminding me again with a new spin on it!
Love all the cards
So beautiful, really stunning
I just love how excited you get when you get a new idea, Gina!
I did this technique years ago and it was a lot of fun. I need to do it again
I really liked the white..
I have always loved this technique:) It has been years since I have used it so thank you for bringing it back:) our kids at school did an art project with shaving cream and the classroom smelled wonderful all day:) I loved all the cards but that sunrise was my favorite:) tfs and God bless:)
Ready to try this!
Heat embossing the stamped image then put in the shaving cream
Yes a booklet of words! LOL
Love that
Hello from 🇦🇺
Miss Gina, can you do the bleaching technique? Please.❤
I love the technique more than the completed card!
Happy New Year from NZ Gina & Tom. Today's cards were beautiful. If I was only allowed one my choice would be the orange/ arch would be my pick. Two lovely cards and I have not seen this idea using shaving creme. I love your frames THE DEAD SPACE & THE BRIGHT SPACE love it.
This was a technique to make backgrounds on paper that we used in the early 90’s. I had forgotten all about this.❤
SUGGESTION: you can stamp with a resist (like clear embossing) and the do this technique
Novid!Novice!! Love it!
Wonderful technique! Thank you.
If you want to do the butterfly I would emboss it first
You're looking good! Happy New Year...to good health for 2024
That’s beautiful Gina!
I love your ideas Gina! ❤️
Looks beautiful
Beautiful outcome with this technique.
OMG! Beautiful!
I think just trying and 'playing' is great fun. Keep it up😂
Great technique
Lovely cards thanks
Love it!
Love this. Did you ever go into the kid's classrooms and teach with your card favorites?
I did! When my kids were little I did stuff at school and Girl Scouts. ❤
Hello from NC
Nice card! Do you think Cool Whip topping would work instead of shave cream? I can’t find fragrance free and I have fragrance sensitivity.
what machine are you using, it seems to work so easely
It’s a new machine Gina designed but they sold out immediately!!! I’ve seen demo videos and it is so effortlessly, you can crank it with one finger 😮 I’m waiting for a restock so I can get one.
It’s the Intri-Cut machine by Gina K Designs. We have more on the way! ❤
Hi Gina!
Husbands everywhere are going to be wondering what the heck happened to their shaving cream lol😂
Hahaha!
Haaaaaa!
😂😂
Would this work with drops of ink from an ink spray bottle ? I don’t have any re inkers . Gorgeous cards . In love with the sunset one .
I would definitely try it!!
Works with food coloring (not the gel kind; the old style liquid kind)
🎉🎉🎉🎉Word of the day calendar for 2025 featuring 12 of Gina's favorite designs from 2024🎉🎉🎉🎉
You can use food coloring too for this technique
Thats stunning! I wish I could afford masking magic. I'll figure something out.
I have some I can send you. Where can I contact you?
Hi Gina, Can you please tell me the size of the ML2 without using the die? I copied it down but it did not work out. 3 1/2 x 5 and 3 5/8 x 4 7/8....is this correct? Loved the shaving cream technique
3 1/2 X 4 3/4 is the white panel. The black panel you have correct. :)
Where do you get reinters? Are they yours?
What could you use if you do not have reinkers
Paint, food coloring, sprays, lots of things like that!
Liquid food coloring is a very good alternative!
been a long time since we've used shaving cream.... A stencil, if used, has to be well secured.
Anyone know of some place to find what color inks go together WITHOUT making mud??? Thank U !
Yes, check out this video and use colors that are next to each other in the same tone. th-cam.com/users/livevu2lqkz_DzE?si=aUHYrGrthSH-wL12
Thank you!
Going to try.
does it crack up in the mail?
My vote is teal
You are kidding right? Love to watch play.
So if I use a stencil how would I get the stencil to stick on the cardstock?
Use the spray .. pixie spray...iCraft - Repositionable Adhesive - Pixie Spray For Stencils - 3.8 Ounces
Yes, what Jen said! Pixie Spray would be the best, You can get it a Simon Says Stamp, Scrapbook dot com or Thermoweb!
Love watching you do this and the results were beautiful but the messy techniques are not for me ,lol. I don’t even really like playing with embossing or glitter paste…love the look when someone else does it though
Oh no! You're missing out on some fun! I'm glad watching was fun! :)
Remember the scratch and sniff stickers. Well the shaving cream i use for projects smells like coconut
