Just found this, 11/8/23. So much prettier than the pictures! I love your work! Never been a fan of impressionistic painting, but you have changed my mine. (As long as it's YOURS!)
Such a bright idea for a composition that is not typical, a group of apples hanging from a tree. Your apples are so colorful and realistic looking especially the queen that I wish I could pick one of your beautiful fuji apples. Thank you for sharing and educating us on how to paint apples. Yours look amazing!
Thank you so much!
David, your positivity mixed with an impressionistic style, beautiful colors and knowledge makes your videos very enjoyable. Can't wait to try painting.
Thanks so much!
Nice David, sometimes when I'm not painting I watch you just to relax. Then I usually try your paintings but use soft pastels.
Thank you so much Bill 😀
Exactly same happens with me.....
Enjoy your classes
You certainly know your colour tones David. Got them all in together nicely. Always a pleasure to watch and listen to your tutorials.👍🍎❤️
Thank you Penny! Cheers!
You are so inspiring
you are able to paint such a magnific painting in one hour and teach at the same time!!!!! Chapeau!
Thank you so much 😀
Wow Dave! What a beautiful painting! If that’s your impressionistic painting of apples, I can’t imagine what your realistic painting would look like. That “queen” Apple looks good enough to eat!
Thank you so much Dusty! 😀
You always make my day brighter. You’re such a beautiful kind hearted person. Thank you ❤️
Thanks so much Kasia! 😀
And humble.
I’m watching this in bed, household is asleep. I want to get up and paint !!! Bravo Dave I love this. I painted the scotch pine today and it’s not too bad. 😻
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Thank you!
My pleasure.
Hi David, I’ve watched several of your paintings but this is the first one that I actually tried painting along with you. I love the impressionistic style, and painting loser, but it has not been easy for me to do. This painting lesson, however has been so helpful. I am practicing “allá prima” and your teaching style is so warm, friendly and positive, you bring out the best in others. You also make me laugh sometimes, which is always a good thing, because it helps me relax . I have enjoyed painting with you and the painting is coming out really good! Thanks again, I’m learning so much about color, values, composition, painting loser, and how to use the acrylic mediums. I am also really enjoying the process!
A great challenge for me. I might try painting without my glasses on. I can see the colors great, but won't see any lines. Hehe That's one way to learn impressionism. I'm like you, been painting within the lines for 30+ years. Hard to break habits. If anyone can teach me, it most definitely is you! Thanks.
We got this Kelly! Difficult to break those old habits and we can have some fun along the way. Thanks so much!
Very very nice thank you
Most welcome
David, I just finished my painting. I made some changes in composition and of course it's not as good as yours but I like it a lot. Thank you very much!
My pleasure.
I searched more in you tube for 'acrylic alla prima' i didnt find anything .At that time i thought only oil paint is used to paint allaprima .After seeing your videos i am so happy ❤.Now i learned that alla prima is also can paint with acrylics.thank u ❤.i have suggestion pls paint landscapes and city scapes with acrylics(alla prima).
I have painted many landscapes acrylic alla prima on my channel. I do not paint city scapes. They do not sell well for me.

Just watched this for the second time..it is beautiful and bright..love the background as well .. A happy lesson 😊. Brightened my day !,! Thankyou David
Thank you Vicki. They were fun to paint!
I paint landscape and flowers my favorite
Oh my goodness, I have cut my long handled brushes and have been painting for 20 odd years and have always been heavy handed, I am working on a painting on canvas and learned that yes, hold the brush more toward the end and it really softens my hold of the brush. Funny how we continue to learn little things like how we are holding the brush and the affects it has on our painting. I am small handed so even though I cut the handles, they still work by holding them at the end. That is such a great tip David.
I love the long handle for casual soft paintings when I am painting at the easel. Thank you!
Thank you! Love painting apples!
Thank you Carol! Cheers!
I love this & I CAN DO IT! You are a great teacher so relaxed.
Thanks so much Marie 😊
I love watching you! Beautiful painting!

Awesome! Thanks so much! 😀
Mesmerizing work Dave!!! I am always inspired to try again. Thank you
Thank you! Cheers!
David I just found your apple demonstration in acrylic and fell in love with your impressionistic technique!!! I’m trying so hard to get away from my natural tendency to be realistic. Please please do some more. I feel it in my gut but fear takes hold. It’s just a board and paint - nothing set in stone!, I have to keep talking to myself and allow it to happen. Thank you so much you are an excellent teacher!
Wonderful! I will do more. Thank you! 😃
I painted these apples today. I really enjoyed it. I didn't have the same size canvas as yours, so I used an 8x10 board. I had a lot of fun! Thanks again 🙂
Wonderful! My pleasure. Glad you had fun!
Love your impressionist works. 😍
Thank you so much 😀
Beautiful love this thank you!
You are so welcome! 😀
Absolutely love this. I am trying to find my way due to being left handed and I curl my hand around to boot. Having to break bad habits but you are so inspirational in your method of teaching that it is really helpful. Thank you for all the videos.
Hi Carol, You can flip the video really easy so it looks like I am painting with my left hand. Using the "Chrome" browser. Add an extension to the browser called "Flip This". chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/flip-this/donljlliiecjcagcenoeohjmabfegkph?hl=en
From the extension use the "flip horizontal" and I will be painting with my left hand!
what a great lesson david1 many thanks!
My pleasure Paddy!
I love this piece
Thanks so much Yasemin! 😀

You are so welcome Sue.
Love this Dave u the man xxx
Thank you! 😃
David love these apples, I will definitely give them a go. I don’t have all yr colours but I think I can make do. Wonderful piece
Don't mix Heritage colors with other acrylics. It is not good to mix different brands of acrylics. You change the working properties.
@@JansenArtEducation I don’t have heritage colours, I have atelier and will use those, Thankyou for yr advice though. I’m in Australia, I’ve not heard of Heritage paints before.
@@jennyforeman4844 Heritage has been around since 2008. We have them made in Sydney by Matisse Derivan. I wouldn't use Atelier. I would use Derivan's structure as it comes close to the feeling and has better pigment depth.
@@JansenArtEducation Thankyou for yr advice, I do have some Matisse structure paints but many Atelier, so I will have to use them up first. I do have the Matisse open medium though
MERCI. Oh ! La ! La ! Comme c'est beau. Bon dimanche
Thank you!
Wow Dave, totally different but stunningly beautiful. I think that I will have a go at this painting too. As usual, well explained and very detailed colour mixing advice..and to me, that is the key to successful paintings..understanding colour relationships and colour mixing. Personally, I think that that is the area where I mess up most. It's always well worth watching all of your tutorials, irrespective of subject, "just" for the colour theory and colour mixing! Thanks Dave, another hour or so well spent watching a great artist. Best wishes, David in the UK.
Thanks David. These are really fun to practice the tones and your are so correct it applies to what ever you paint!
I love your logic 👌❤
Thanks so much! 😀
