You know, I wonder why it doesnt have a storage box item. Like if there's a very nice weapon you got, I dont want t carry it with me if Im not planning to use it. That way I can manage inventory better
gameranx Are you kidding on #2? That island is so awesome. I found it after beating the game and couldn't be happier that the game actually wanted to challenge me. That shrine and the one where the entire area is dark were nice finds that have kept me playing to completion.
When you finally get all the elemental swords but you know they will break so you don't use them and they just sit in your inventory for all eternity for your own comfort.
I read an interview where one of the creators was blown away by the number of fans that requested a petting mechanic. Maybe we'll get one in BOTW2. It should definitely be in this video.

I had this but instead of Yiga members it was Chuchus. I was trying to target the guardian but it kept going to the chuchus. That was the only time they were dangerous to me

If you're referring to the weapons you get after completing a Devine Beast, you can actually repair/replace these. But it's really expensive and you have to visit the ones who gave it to you again.
Same lol did this also for the yiga clan hideout. Dropped right in front of the entrance without having to fight those first few guys when you're approaching the hideout.

What I really hate are Keese (the bats) when its nightime and you're having a battle, they just show up and ruin your day. Especially if they are ice or electric
I love the weapon’s breaking aspect of this game. What I don’t like is how easily they break. I also wish there was an option to combine weapons to make them stronger.
I wouldn't have a problem with weapon durability if it were like 10x stronger than it is now. it is way way way too low and I hope they at least increase weapon durability in the sequel
Playing with an emulator, you can adjust several parameters like durability. 2x durability is perfect for me. Still get the danger of something breaking, but not so often to be annoying.
People hated Eventide island? I thought it was genius. It was like starting the game all over. Having to find weapons, food and survive all over again on an island. Except this time you're skilled. Plus it's entirely optional. So you can skip it if you don't like it.
I sorta get it. Eventide Island was my favorite part of the game. Until the 10th time I died to the Hinox at the end and had to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't losing an entire hour of progress every time I die. And you generally run across it pretty early in the game, since you're drawn to the south-east of the map by Hateno Village, so it's unlikely you have anything more than Mipha's Grace and 8 or so hearts.
Not only, but this island truly highlights character progression in the game. Eventide island brings you back to what it was like first coming out of the shrine of resurrection not having shit. I also like the whole, Dead Island-esque, wash up on this Island with nothing but scavenge these sticks and survive.
am I one of the few people that love the blood moon due to me being able to farm more Lynels? Also quick tip: cook 1 hearty ingredient by itself to get a full recovery bonus heart food item for really cheap
Durability never became an issue to me anymore, I’ve trained myself to take out Lynels constantly every blood moon cause they drop THE best weapon and shields besides rare weaponry and Hylian/Master Sword. Also, savage Lynel bows are hella insane so!
You forgot something rather important... *when you’re spamming crynosis ice blocks in water to move across and you fall off one, and as you rush to swim to the next one, you use water dash, and hit the crynosis ice block, causing it to break.*
I always run and jump to the next blocks and and sometimes I fall between the blocks and under the water, then I go under the ice block and break it with my head 🥲

He can’t float cause muscle is heavier than water and that’s all he is. That’s why his weapons break in an hour, bone is harder than steel and it doesn’t even slow down his swing. You’re forgetting that BOTW link is essentially the doom guy of hyrule, known for killing a guardian with a lid and slaying thousands of Gannon’s minions with ease.

I hate weapon durability... I mean, I really hate weapon durability!! I turned off BOTW after like 15 hours and started playing A Link to the Past for the 19th time.
In fact I like the fact that the game pauses when you want to heal. That way, new players can take their time to heal themselves and relax if they're in the middle of a difficult battle while at the same time they can plan an strategy with time.
i was being attacked when the blood moon first arrived and my horse got hit by a bokoblin XD i was like "WELP MY HORSE GONNA FUCK YOU UP" but then all the things i killed came back and i was like..."welp....fuck..."
Weapons always seem to break in the worst moments like when u have a guardian sword fighting a big enemy and it breaks and all u have left is you BIG OLD TRUSTY SPIKED BOKO CLUB!
They are not common enemies. Use them on guardians and believe me fighting them becomes a piece of cake. You feel so damn powerful just running towards a walking guardian, equipped with an ancient axe you cut of it's legs with one blow each and then with ancient bow and ancient arrow one shot in the eye and boom! That's how you fuckin' play BOTW
Yep the weapon durability. I think this has some side effects the developers didn't realize. Like there is no point in trying to get %99 of the chests in the game, maybe it will be a cool weapon- that breaks after a fight or two. This issue is more of a missed opportunity than anything else, weapon collecting is a huge part of RPGs, and to a lesser extent even action games, that's just not in this game. I nearly always run around with monster weapons now because I just don't care about the weapons anymore.

The durability of the Royal Guard weapons have some great dps you find in the castle, but have some of the worse durability of around 14! What's that about?
Weapon durability is the main feature that made this drop from my favorite zelda game. It's insane. I don't durability being there, just how damned fast everything breaks. Allot of weapons don't even last a full fight with one enemy before breaking. It makes me miss the other zelda games where you finally find the new bad ass sword to stick with you through the game.
If anyone's struggling with eventide island: Just before you get on the island, (before you lose all your stuff) throw some weapons onto the shore. Then the trail will take all your stuff but the weapons you threw will still be on the shore, and you can just pick them up and use them.
You guys forgot to mention how any animal that you're chasing after will eventually randomly disappear before you catch it, which pulls you out of the immersion so hard. You shouldn't have to think to yourself "can I catch this animal before it vanishes?" constantly.
Kiley Davis- True, that's a good one. I can't tell you how many times I tried to catch a lizard just to have it run through the side of a mountain. I'm just like, "ok.... disappearing lizard. Totally normal..."
Personally, I loved eventide island and I thought it wasn’t hard. ( probably because I had 13 hearts and didn’t die.( no, I did not glitch my items onto the island)
Years later and I’m finally playing this game for the first time. I love it!!! And yeah I pretty much hate all of these mechanics. So here are some pro tips to get around this non sense if you are like me a playing just now for the first time and don’t want to be discouraged. 1. The Gyro puzzles can be cheesed easily if they are annoying you. For example. Like dude said. Flip the maze upside down. Etc. 2. It’s always raining in this game. ALWAYS! So get the fast travel points as early on as you can. Get all the frustration out straight away. Shrine hop, find the stables and towns and towers with shrine maps you can find on Google. 3. Spend a lot of time practicing the dodge mechanic. One shorting sucks. It makes it feel like health and armor stays don’t matter and they don’t. Kinda. But practice makes perfect. 4. Find all the most important cooking combinations online for the best stamina, cold resist, heat resist , etc. and remember them. It’s really only like 5 or so tops. The rest won’t matter so much for most of the game anyways. 5. Keep your eye on the sky as night falls and the Blood Moon won’t be so good at sneaking up on you. The moon is red in the sky for a few minutes before the cut scene. Don’t get caught out with it rising and it won’t ever bother you. 6. Being knocked off of something sucks. It does. So, take it with a grain of salt. It’s going to happen. 7. Before playing this I was playing AC Odyssey. Spent like 200plus hours in that game on XB One. So playing this game on a Switch was already a learning curve because a lot of the standard button imprints are backwards. Hopping in and out of menus is just frustrating as it is. There isn’t much there in the way of doing anything to help you with this. Sorry. 8. AHSF! Always have stamina food! Or Ahhhh Holy Shit Fuck! In frustration as you fall all the way down to your demise and have to start all over again. 9. The very reason I add this comment. Eventide Island is super cake! If you know what to do. Basically. All you need to do is TH-cam how to cheese speed run this. It will take you like 15 minutes. 10. Weapon durability is shit. Absolute shit. This is my biggest gripe. But find you 13 hearts. You start with 4. So run Shrines until you have 13 and then get the Master Sword. There is a lot this game will hands off not teach you. Google is your friend. Lol
who the fuck hates eventide island?! It's the best shrine in the game. Game strips you of your gear and you're left with your wits (and runes) Went there with 6 hearts by boat and thought it was just a regular island. I mean it's challenging but it's not that hard and it only takes 10 mins if you rush it. Only took me 2 tries (fucked up a counter on a moblin first run); you don't even have to fight the hinox. So damn satisfying octorocks on the other hand are worst thing in the game. There like mosquitoes; not worth giving attention to but always buzzing around you. Every time I'm looking treasure or crossing a lake with cryonis, these things start shooting boulders at me: "LEAVE ME ALONE! I'm NOT WASTING MY TIME WITH YOU FREAKS!" I do like their balloons though...
Haha. I entirely agree. Eventide was a special treat. I got there later on in the game so I was over powered but didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised that I had to complete the island from basically starting with nothing. It was a cool survival island. AND EFF THOSE DAMN OCTOROCKS!!!
"[Cooking is] a crafting mechanic where you're really given no recipes ever." What, though? There are a ton of NPCs, cookbooks, and cooking posters around Hyrule that will give you recipes.
First of all: the blood moon isn’t random. Every consecutive 2 hours and 48 minutes in the over world it happens. Second: the blood moon helps more than it hurts. Weapons like the royal claymore on the woodland tower and other weapons lying around respawn and so do guardians in test of strength shrines which allow you to get good gear.
Cats sucks At smash the blood moon doesn’t only happen after a certain amount of time, there is also a situation that when 90% or more of the games long term memory is used up, the blood moon will occur, no matter the time. Not only that, but there is a glitch that rarely more than one blood moon will happen in the same in game day. I know about this bug because I had it happen. A blood moon occurred, and 4 minutes later, another one triggered.
I like the weapon durability idea, but not the way they did it. One weapon should be enough for several (in-game) days of enemies. I also think they should've implemented a way to maybe dismantle unwanted weapons for materials, and use those materials to repair the weapons you like.
I know that this is an old comment, but repair would be a terrible idea in my opinon, the whole point of the durability system is so you dont rely on a single weapon
Honestly, challenges is what makes me play the game more, it's frustrating but I feel proud and like I've achieved something. Especially in BOTW, you get challenged by an enemy or a puzzle unexpectedly, it's just nice that a game doesn't treat you like a baby.
i actually like the weap system after a while playing. it gives me chance to use all other weapons, as well knowing which weapon i should use instead of spamming my ++ G. axe everywhere
The one-shot problem is only really an issue early game, which makes me think it's intentional. It makes you more cautious so you don't rush into every encounter. Late game you can rush in to most encounters, so they didn't want to give you that freedom right off the bat, unless you have the skill to dodge/block the damage and build your skills.
I loved it! I thought it was one of the coolest things, you lose all the equipment you've picked up but you have your experience - it's like starting a new game file without actually losing your progress. It was challenging and fun and definitely one of my favorite things in the game, because it really forced you to strategize and think outside the box.
I just started playing and ya I wish there was atleast ONE balanced weapon that wouldn't break. Or maybe a secret that nobody knew at 1st like the mop not breaking or the tree branch not breaking atleast
warp to the eventide island shrine and glide to the small island to the right. theres a chest there with arrows that will respawn every time you warp back
I can't say I HATE weapon durability, but I can say that the weapons do break much too quickly. I think that most weapons should last longer, especially the rarer ones, and rare amibo stuff- eg the Fierce Deity's Sword- should be unbreakable. Or at the very least they should have a blacksmith that you can take near broken weapons to. That would encourage players to step outside their comfort zones AND to be careful with their weapons, while also keeping weapon durability and having a mechanism where you may repair really valuable, rare weapons. That's just my opinion though.
Replaying BoTW again, some weapons are extremely durable and plentiful. Definitely pick up the Knights Broadsword early game, they can last a while. You can find a bunch in the skull camp near the Muwo Jeem Shrine. In my first game I wasn’t a big fan of it but replaying the game a couple of times, it’s a tolerable mechanic, you just need to find the right weapons
The gyro puzzles... the trick I found that worked best is to position your controller in a way that was comfortable to you before beginning the puzzle. Pretty much you need to know your zero point. Weapon durability actually grew on me. It gave me a reason to mark out all those places where I found nice weapons on mobs so I could go there after each blood moon and stock up. As for cooking I found it pretty easy and straightforward. I would of never guessed you could mix food and potions together though. Thanks reddit! I just assumed it would give dubious food when you tried. Not the case though. The trick is just using the right ingredients that all do the same thing. So three food, one bug(crawly thing: lizards bugs etc) and one monster part. So a hearty radish a hearty truffle and a hearty bass then toss in a hearty lizard and a moblin gut and voila, a nice potion that heals you completely and can give you bonus hearts. Depending on the quality of the monster part and the food I've seen as much as +25 hearts. Most food and potions are useless though once you know this. Why would I need a rice cake then heals six hearts when I just as easily make a radish truffle and hearty lizard potion that not only heals me but gives me bonus hearts?
I like the weapon durability mechanic. It keeps things fresh with what weapons I'm using and also adds some exhilaration in fights when you need to quickly switch to a new weapon from the inventory or pick up a weapon from a recently fallen enemy.
I remember being stuck in the same place at the east of the map, waiting from the rain to stop, just to climb because I did not saw anywhere to get out else. But after several in-game damn days, I just realized that the rain would never stop just due to the ***** MAIN STORY (Zora Domain quest). I felt so stupid on the moment.
Oh, I see, I thought you were speaking about the farosh's forest were it rains until you climb the waterfall. When I saw there was an item that makes you swim up the waterfall, I felt stupid and accomplished at the same time lol
same thing happens to me. I was trying to climb the mountains to get to the Roto and kept trying to find a way up until I saw a bridge where I met Sidon.
The worst thing in the game is when it's meant to be sunny and you get a little rain shower that stops you climbing, cooking, using fire. I mean you never get a window of sunshine during a rainspell do you.

I feel like hotkeys are also useless when you have like one of 80 different kinds of food in your pockets. Like you press a “healing” hotkey, and it would just consume the first healing item in your inventory? That way you don’t really know what you’re getting unless you organized your inventory. That, or you could pick a few to use, but that still leaves you going in and out of menus all day to add new items to the hotkey as they get used. The only items that would kind of work as a hotkey are the simple foods you can stack, but those only give like 1-2 hearts each.
I like the fact that there are no "hotkeys" because every button can be used for something. I don't really know any games where any buttons are unused but I personally hate the fact that a TV remote has like 90 buttons and you only use about 7 of them. Let's keep video game controllers from turning into TV remotes.

Things that Annoy me in Botw: -When you hear guardian music (when the guardian is going to shoot lazers at you), but don't know where it is. -Getting engulfed by thicc fog everytime in the Lost Woods. -Whenever I have about 2 full circles of stamina and I run out of it, I have to wait until all of the stamina wheel fills up. -I parry an enemy's projectile too late or too early, and I lose half of my health. -Whenever I backflip or side hop, I can never get a perfect dodge. It takes precise timing, but I'm not the most precise person. -When my freaking weapon breaks on the first couple hits of a flurry rush. -When a boss (divine beast) gets on their second phase, and their pattern of attacks/movement gets more unpredictable and hard. -There are so many chests in this game with many weapons, but my inventory is small, so I have to throw away other weapons to get the weapon in the chest. I'm really indecisive as you can tell :/ -I run out of normal arrows, so I use special arrows (most likely the bomb or ice arrows just because I have a lot of them), but I want to save them for boss battles and challenging moments. Soon, I run out of those too, and I can't use my precious bow anymore. -Finding Shrines. I feel like I can't even use my shrine sensor anymore because I always try to go the direction in which the sensor beeps twice. However, my sensor beeps once, and then stops beeping. I literally don't know where these shrines can be, and even using a complete map online doesn't really help. -When you can't decide whether you should get a heart container or a stamina vessel when praying.

I liked the Blood Moon. Although it nearly freaked me out the first time it happened, I quickly realized its purpose. Resource regeneration and bug elimination.
JAGraptor I personally love the blood moon and look forward to it because it respawns lynels and I get really good bows shields and swords, etc from them
The blood moon is really just a way to undo all the changes the player has made to the world so that the game won’t crash itself and break while at the same time adding a bit of origin to the moon’s existence.
Resources are reloaded when you load the area again like if you cut down a tree save then load the tree would be back or if you cut a tree down left and came back before a bloodmoon it'd be back I abused it when I had to get wood for Terry town I just ran around cutting all the trees saving and then loading
The island was my favorite part. I found it super late game. I had all these awesome weapons and upgraded armor and the next thing I know it’s all gone. It felt like that time in Majora’s Mask when you was turned into a Deku scrub. It’s even better as a late game event.

Yea but that’s not really all that helpful. A “badly damaged” weapon can last a pretty long time. So you end up constantly walking on eggshells because there’s no actual indicator of how many hits your weapon has left in it. This could easily be remedied with a durability bar, or a “durability is X/Y” message when you hover over it in the menu.. ANYTHING would be more useful then “your weapon is badly damaged”...
Well, sorta. Weapons with a sparkle haven't been used at all, while weapons that glow red are literally on the verge of breaking. They start glowing red when they have maybe four or five hits left.
I love the durability system, it adds an extra layer of strategy: save your good weapons for the boss-fights, get by with whatever you can for the others. I took out a hinox with sticks and bombs because I know the royal guard's weapons suck for durability. In Hyrule Castle? cool, use your Master Sword, oh, you wasted the energy fighting a turret? sucks to be you, now fight a lynel. Besides, it adds variety, which I love. And the potential critical hits you can get by throwing a severely damaged weapon? Amazing. What i will admit is that it's a little excessive, sure, sticks breaking in a couple of hits makes sense, but like, your royal guards are using these swords.....and they break in like five hits?????????????
One of my main struggles in this game is probably the sandstorm in the desert area, the way the map is blurred and unable to find my current location yet dying from overheating really startled me.
Your weapons breaking makes sense it’s very realistic mechanic and adds a great element to the game. Don’t get me wrong it is very annoying but a way to fix this annoyance or make it less annoying is to add the ability to repair weapons either at a stable or at local towns and at the weapon repairing shops you can give a certain amount to items or Rubys to boost your weapons durability like you can with Link boosting his stamina or hearts
2:11 When I first played this game, I knew immediately that the blue bokoblins were tougher than the red bokoblins mainly because there was only one of the blue bokoblins.
@yesi jesi The game does a lot to tell you that the color of the enemies indicates different ranks. That's even how it went in other Zelda games. I knew that the Red Bokoblins were the weakest immediately since they went down faster than the blue ones. EDIT: The color also matters on other enemy types, like Lizalfos and Moblins.
That gyroscope part of that first shrine you mentioned. Literally drop the ball, then tilt to your left. The ball will drop in that middle lane leading to the launch. I laughed when I did it. Didn't even have to look that up. Yeah, I hated when climbing and then it starts raining. Had to quit one mountain because of the thunder dragon in that area, making it rain. About eventide island--I was stupid and thought the ball(first one found) had to be dropped in that wooden hole in the mud pit. The game said, "no, it doesn't go there.". I had to blast the mud multiple times to get the ball(the last one because it was stuck!) out of there. It was gruesome considering that you can't even save on eventide island.
If your stamina is low (on red) and you're not far from the ledge you're climbing to, you can leap and perform a "Final Breath Leap" where you jump higher than usual. Incredibly useful if you're very close to reaching the top and your stamina is about to reach 0.
I'm not acting as if it is, I was pointing out out as in the video, there was nothing about it and he complained about the fact that at times if you're near the ledge but you don't have enough stamina you fall back down. As people have replied to this comment, it has helped. You make want to think through your reply before posting it next time, and actually consider what was said and whether you're just interpreting it wrong.

define late game? i'm genuinely asking, because i just got botw last week and the bloodmoon pisses me off. one divine beast remaining, 60 shrines remaining, almost all the memories and sidequests remaining. i'd love some help here.
Kedar Rao I see late game as the point when you've cleared all five beasts, and all the shrines. At that point it's farming for materials and exploring the world getting side quests completed. The VERY last OPTIONAL thing i would say to do is the korok seeds. The blood moon just helps you obtain all this at a faster pace because you'll NEED to have fully upgraded ancient gear, and you'll want that 92 power savage libel sword to make fighting other silver/white labels for star fragments, gems, and arrows easier. Basically in late game the blood moon works as a farming tool
The gyro scope was weird in handheld. I switch over to control just to handle it. Recipes I screenshot them after cooking something new. And worse thing the blood moon has done was when I was clearing a Labyrinth I removed some Malice in an area and blood moon activated right when I was walking through that area and it respawned with me right in the middle of it.
We love it, but a couple of minor things drive us a bit crazy.

If you're referring to the weapons you get after completing a Devine Beast, you can actually repair/replace these. But it's really expensive and you have to visit the ones who gave it to you again.

I wouldn't have a problem with weapon durability if it were like 10x stronger than it is now. it is way way way too low and I hope they at least increase weapon durability in the sequel
Playing with an emulator, you can adjust several parameters like durability. 2x durability is perfect for me. Still get the danger of something breaking, but not so often to be annoying.
People hated Eventide island? I thought it was genius. It was like starting the game all over. Having to find weapons, food and survive all over again on an island. Except this time you're skilled. Plus it's entirely optional. So you can skip it if you don't like it.
I got there when I was really over powered. So it was really nice to kind of start fresh like you did at the beginning of the game.
I sorta get it. Eventide Island was my favorite part of the game.
Until the 10th time I died to the Hinox at the end and had to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't losing an entire hour of progress every time I die.
And you generally run across it pretty early in the game, since you're drawn to the south-east of the map by Hateno Village, so it's unlikely you have anything more than Mipha's Grace and 8 or so hearts.
Not only, but this island truly highlights character progression in the game. Eventide island brings you back to what it was like first coming out of the shrine of resurrection not having shit. I also like the whole, Dead Island-esque, wash up on this Island with nothing but scavenge these sticks and survive.
Instead of killing the hinox, you could have just stole the ball and run away.

just ZL + L stick it. i got my horse to some otherwise inaccessible by horse locations with this method.

Durability never became an issue to me anymore, I’ve trained myself to take out Lynels constantly every blood moon cause they drop THE best weapon and shields besides rare weaponry and Hylian/Master Sword. Also, savage Lynel bows are hella insane so!

I hate weapon durability... I mean, I really hate weapon durability!! I turned off BOTW after like 15 hours and started playing A Link to the Past for the 19th time.
In fact I like the fact that the game pauses when you want to heal. That way, new players can take their time to heal themselves and relax if they're in the middle of a difficult battle while at the same time they can plan an strategy with time.

Yep the weapon durability. I think this has some side effects the developers didn't realize. Like there is no point in trying to get %99 of the chests in the game, maybe it will be a cool weapon- that breaks after a fight or two. This issue is more of a missed opportunity than anything else, weapon collecting is a huge part of RPGs, and to a lesser extent even action games, that's just not in this game. I nearly always run around with monster weapons now because I just don't care about the weapons anymore.
I personally hated the fact that I couldn't continue the game after defeating Ganon. That legit made me cry

Weapon durability is the main feature that made this drop from my favorite zelda game. It's insane. I don't durability being there, just how damned fast everything breaks. Allot of weapons don't even last a full fight with one enemy before breaking. It makes me miss the other zelda games where you finally find the new bad ass sword to stick with you through the game.
If anyone's struggling with eventide island:
Just before you get on the island, (before you lose all your stuff) throw some weapons onto the shore. Then the trail will take all your stuff but the weapons you threw will still be on the shore, and you can just pick them up and use them.

Years later and I’m finally playing this game for the first time. I love it!!! And yeah I pretty much hate all of these mechanics. So here are some pro tips to get around this non sense if you are like me a playing just now for the first time and don’t want to be discouraged.
1. The Gyro puzzles can be cheesed easily if they are annoying you. For example. Like dude said. Flip the maze upside down. Etc.
2. It’s always raining in this game. ALWAYS! So get the fast travel points as early on as you can. Get all the frustration out straight away. Shrine hop, find the stables and towns and towers with shrine maps you can find on Google.
3. Spend a lot of time practicing the dodge mechanic. One shorting sucks. It makes it feel like health and armor stays don’t matter and they don’t. Kinda. But practice makes perfect.
4. Find all the most important cooking combinations online for the best stamina, cold resist, heat resist , etc. and remember them. It’s really only like 5 or so tops. The rest won’t matter so much for most of the game anyways.
5. Keep your eye on the sky as night falls and the Blood Moon won’t be so good at sneaking up on you. The moon is red in the sky for a few minutes before the cut scene. Don’t get caught out with it rising and it won’t ever bother you.
6. Being knocked off of something sucks. It does. So, take it with a grain of salt. It’s going to happen.
7. Before playing this I was playing AC Odyssey. Spent like 200plus hours in that game on XB One. So playing this game on a Switch was already a learning curve because a lot of the standard button imprints are backwards. Hopping in and out of menus is just frustrating as it is. There isn’t much there in the way of doing anything to help you with this. Sorry.
8. AHSF! Always have stamina food! Or Ahhhh Holy Shit Fuck! In frustration as you fall all the way down to your demise and have to start all over again.
9. The very reason I add this comment. Eventide Island is super cake! If you know what to do. Basically. All you need to do is TH-cam how to cheese speed run this. It will take you like 15 minutes.
10. Weapon durability is shit. Absolute shit. This is my biggest gripe. But find you 13 hearts. You start with 4. So run Shrines until you have 13 and then get the Master Sword.
There is a lot this game will hands off not teach you. Google is your friend. Lol

Went there with 6 hearts by boat and thought it was just a regular island. I mean it's challenging but it's not that hard and it only takes 10 mins if you rush it. Only took me 2 tries (fucked up a counter on a moblin first run); you don't even have to fight the hinox.

octorocks on the other hand are worst thing in the game. There like mosquitoes; not worth giving attention to but always buzzing around you. Every time I'm looking treasure or crossing a lake with cryonis, these things start shooting boulders at me: "LEAVE ME ALONE! I'm NOT WASTING MY TIME WITH YOU FREAKS!" I do like their balloons though...

I was pleasantly surprised that I had to complete the island from basically starting with nothing. It was a cool survival island. AND EFF THOSE DAMN OCTOROCKS!!!

0:40 i figured out how to skip that puzzle. you need to turn your switch upside down and when the ball spawns it should be at that chest part
First of all: the blood moon isn’t random. Every consecutive 2 hours and 48 minutes in the over world it happens.
Second: the blood moon helps more than it hurts. Weapons like the royal claymore on the woodland tower and other weapons lying around respawn and so do guardians in test of strength shrines which allow you to get good gear.
Cats sucks At smash the blood moon doesn’t only happen after a certain amount of time, there is also a situation that when 90% or more of the games long term memory is used up, the blood moon will occur, no matter the time. Not only that, but there is a glitch that rarely more than one blood moon will happen in the same in game day. I know about this bug because I had it happen. A blood moon occurred, and 4 minutes later, another one triggered.

The Blood moon happens to respawn stuff and fix glitches and stuff just to reload the game

I like the weapon durability idea, but not the way they did it. One weapon should be enough for several (in-game) days of enemies. I also think they should've implemented a way to maybe dismantle unwanted weapons for materials, and use those materials to repair the weapons you like.
I know that this is an old comment, but repair would be a terrible idea in my opinon, the whole point of the durability system is so you dont rely on a single weapon

Honestly, challenges is what makes me play the game more, it's frustrating but I feel proud and like I've achieved something. Especially in BOTW, you get challenged by an enemy or a puzzle unexpectedly, it's just nice that a game doesn't treat you like a baby.

i actually like the weap system after a while playing. it gives me chance to use all other weapons, as well knowing which weapon i should use instead of spamming my ++ G. axe everywhere
The one-shot problem is only really an issue early game, which makes me think it's intentional. It makes you more cautious so you don't rush into every encounter. Late game you can rush in to most encounters, so they didn't want to give you that freedom right off the bat, unless you have the skill to dodge/block the damage and build your skills.
I once killed a Lynel and then the blood moon appeared and revived it, it sucked.

I loved it! I thought it was one of the coolest things, you lose all the equipment you've picked up but you have your experience - it's like starting a new game file without actually losing your progress. It was challenging and fun and definitely one of my favorite things in the game, because it really forced you to strategize and think outside the box.
it's tricky if you've got dependant on high powered weapons but it's a nice challenge in the game

There is a glitch for unlimited arrows. You just need to finish eventide island
warp to the eventide island shrine and glide to the small island to the right. theres a chest there with arrows that will respawn every time you warp back
You can also save then reload the save

I think that most weapons should last longer, especially the rarer ones, and rare amibo stuff- eg the Fierce Deity's Sword- should be unbreakable. Or at the very least they should have a blacksmith that you can take near broken weapons to. That would encourage players to step outside their comfort zones AND to be careful with their weapons, while also keeping weapon durability and having a mechanism where you may repair really valuable, rare weapons. That's just my opinion though.

Replaying BoTW again, some weapons are extremely durable and plentiful. Definitely pick up the Knights Broadsword early game, they can last a while. You can find a bunch in the skull camp near the Muwo Jeem Shrine.
In my first game I wasn’t a big fan of it but replaying the game a couple of times, it’s a tolerable mechanic, you just need to find the right weapons

The gyro puzzles... the trick I found that worked best is to position your controller in a way that was comfortable to you before beginning the puzzle. Pretty much you need to know your zero point.
Weapon durability actually grew on me. It gave me a reason to mark out all those places where I found nice weapons on mobs so I could go there after each blood moon and stock up.
As for cooking I found it pretty easy and straightforward. I would of never guessed you could mix food and potions together though. Thanks reddit! I just assumed it would give dubious food when you tried. Not the case though. The trick is just using the right ingredients that all do the same thing. So three food, one bug(crawly thing: lizards bugs etc) and one monster part. So a hearty radish a hearty truffle and a hearty bass then toss in a hearty lizard and a moblin gut and voila, a nice potion that heals you completely and can give you bonus hearts. Depending on the quality of the monster part and the food I've seen as much as +25 hearts.
Most food and potions are useless though once you know this. Why would I need a rice cake then heals six hearts when I just as easily make a radish truffle and hearty lizard potion that not only heals me but gives me bonus hearts?
I like the weapon durability mechanic. It keeps things fresh with what weapons I'm using and also adds some exhilaration in fights when you need to quickly switch to a new weapon from the inventory or pick up a weapon from a recently fallen enemy.

But after several in-game damn days, I just realized that the rain would never stop just due to the ***** MAIN STORY (Zora Domain quest). I felt so stupid on the moment.

That's exactly what I thought when they mentioned hot keys, I was like ok yeah nah.
They could use button combos for hotkeys
like: Healing item=R+B
I feel like hotkeys are also useless when you have like one of 80 different kinds of food in your pockets. Like you press a “healing” hotkey, and it would just consume the first healing item in your inventory? That way you don’t really know what you’re getting unless you organized your inventory.
That, or you could pick a few to use, but that still leaves you going in and out of menus all day to add new items to the hotkey as they get used. The only items that would kind of work as a hotkey are the simple foods you can stack, but those only give like 1-2 hearts each.
I like the fact that there are no "hotkeys" because every button can be used for something. I don't really know any games where any buttons are unused but I personally hate the fact that a TV remote has like 90 buttons and you only use about 7 of them. Let's keep video game controllers from turning into TV remotes.

Talking about cooking, combine 5 hearty durians (you can farm them at the bottom of the faron tower) for full recovery and 20 extra hearts temporarily
Things that Annoy me in Botw:
-When you hear guardian music (when the guardian is going to shoot lazers at you), but don't know where it is.
-Getting engulfed by thicc fog everytime in the Lost Woods.
-Whenever I have about 2 full circles of stamina and I run out of it, I have to wait until all of the stamina wheel fills up.
-I parry an enemy's projectile too late or too early, and I lose half of my health.
-Whenever I backflip or side hop, I can never get a perfect dodge. It takes precise timing, but I'm not the most precise person.
-When my freaking weapon breaks on the first couple hits of a flurry rush.
-When a boss (divine beast) gets on their second phase, and their pattern of attacks/movement gets more unpredictable and hard.
-There are so many chests in this game with many weapons, but my inventory is small, so I have to throw away other weapons to get the weapon in the chest. I'm really indecisive as you can tell :/
-I run out of normal arrows, so I use special arrows (most likely the bomb or ice arrows just because I have a lot of them), but I want to save them for boss battles and challenging moments. Soon, I run out of those too, and I can't use my precious bow anymore.
-Finding Shrines. I feel like I can't even use my shrine sensor anymore because I always try to go the direction in which the sensor beeps twice. However, my sensor beeps once, and then stops beeping. I literally don't know where these shrines can be, and even using a complete map online doesn't really help.
-When you can't decide whether you should get a heart container or a stamina vessel when praying.
This. Most of the annoying things in the video are not really that annoying, but your comment made me get some PTSD from playing the game

I liked the Blood Moon. Although it nearly freaked me out the first time it happened, I quickly realized its purpose. Resource regeneration and bug elimination.
The funny thing is, the blood moon is the most buggy thing in the game while it's supposed to prevent bugs.
JAGraptor I personally love the blood moon and look forward to it because it respawns lynels and I get really good bows shields and swords, etc from them
The blood moon is really just a way to undo all the changes the player has made to the world so that the game won’t crash itself and break while at the same time adding a bit of origin to the moon’s existence.

Resources are reloaded when you load the area again like if you cut down a tree save then load the tree would be back or if you cut a tree down left and came back before a bloodmoon it'd be back I abused it when I had to get wood for Terry town I just ran around cutting all the trees saving and then loading
The island was my favorite part. I found it super late game. I had all these awesome weapons and upgraded armor and the next thing I know it’s all gone. It felt like that time in Majora’s Mask when you was turned into a Deku scrub. It’s even better as a late game event.

Yea but that’s not really all that helpful. A “badly damaged” weapon can last a pretty long time. So you end up constantly walking on eggshells because there’s no actual indicator of how many hits your weapon has left in it. This could easily be remedied with a durability bar, or a “durability is X/Y” message when you hover over it in the menu.. ANYTHING would be more useful then “your weapon is badly damaged”...
Yeah, I wish there was a gauge or something. It only warns you that your weapon is damaged when it's literally about to break in another few swings.
The game does tell you. Weapons with alot of durability left have a sparkle in the menu, and weapons with low durability glow red
Well, sorta. Weapons with a sparkle haven't been used at all, while weapons that glow red are literally on the verge of breaking. They start glowing red when they have maybe four or five hits left.
I love the durability system, it adds an extra layer of strategy: save your good weapons for the boss-fights, get by with whatever you can for the others. I took out a hinox with sticks and bombs because I know the royal guard's weapons suck for durability. In Hyrule Castle? cool, use your Master Sword, oh, you wasted the energy fighting a turret? sucks to be you, now fight a lynel. Besides, it adds variety, which I love. And the potential critical hits you can get by throwing a severely damaged weapon? Amazing. What i will admit is that it's a little excessive, sure, sticks breaking in a couple of hits makes sense, but like, your royal guards are using these swords.....and they break in like five hits?????????????
One of my main struggles in this game is probably the sandstorm in the desert area, the way the map is blurred and unable to find my current location yet dying from overheating really startled me.

Your weapons breaking makes sense it’s very realistic mechanic and adds a great element to the game. Don’t get me wrong it is very annoying but a way to fix this annoyance or make it less annoying is to add the ability to repair weapons either at a stable or at local towns and at the weapon repairing shops you can give a certain amount to items or Rubys to boost your weapons durability like you can with Link boosting his stamina or hearts

@yesi jesi The game does a lot to tell you that the color of the enemies indicates different ranks. That's even how it went in other Zelda games.
I knew that the Red Bokoblins were the weakest immediately since they went down faster than the blue ones.
EDIT: The color also matters on other enemy types, like Lizalfos and Moblins.

That gyroscope part of that first shrine you mentioned. Literally drop the ball, then tilt to your left. The ball will drop in that middle lane leading to the launch. I laughed when I did it. Didn't even have to look that up.
Yeah, I hated when climbing and then it starts raining. Had to quit one mountain because of the thunder dragon in that area, making it rain.
About eventide island--I was stupid and thought the ball(first one found) had to be dropped in that wooden hole in the mud pit. The game said, "no, it doesn't go there.". I had to blast the mud multiple times to get the ball(the last one because it was stuck!) out of there. It was gruesome considering that you can't even save on eventide island.
If your stamina is low (on red) and you're not far from the ledge you're climbing to, you can leap and perform a "Final Breath Leap" where you jump higher than usual. Incredibly useful if you're very close to reaching the top and your stamina is about to reach 0.

Kedar Rao I see late game as the point when you've cleared all five beasts, and all the shrines. At that point it's farming for materials and exploring the world getting side quests completed. The VERY last OPTIONAL thing i would say to do is the korok seeds. The blood moon just helps you obtain all this at a faster pace because you'll NEED to have fully upgraded ancient gear, and you'll want that 92 power savage libel sword to make fighting other silver/white labels for star fragments, gems, and arrows easier. Basically in late game the blood moon works as a farming tool
The gyro scope was weird in handheld. I switch over to control just to handle it. Recipes I screenshot them after cooking something new. And worse thing the blood moon has done was when I was clearing a Labyrinth I removed some Malice in an area and blood moon activated right when I was walking through that area and it respawned with me right in the middle of it.
