    Thank you, Malcolm. That's a beautiful little painting. So vibrant. That cad red light looks like vermillion. It is probably worth 49.00!

    Wow, amazing colours, such coverage! I really need to get out of my funk and get brave with oils and actually open the box...please tell me they don't expire.. lol. I'll never get tired of watching you paint and see what you do with just a few colours and a small surface. Beautiful little gem.

    I'm a beginner when it comes to oil painting,still at the stage: "pick up the paint put it on the canvas and hope for the best",so the best paints doesn't help me until I make progress.
    Oil is quite different from acrylic but the best result I get using the method in your Course : From Acrylic to Oil in 5 Steps.
    It is a great pleasure to watch your creations and every your video is a gift to me.Thank you Malcolm!

    You seem to be having real fun! I have looked at the the Evolve option. Do you think one will be able to get a firm grip on the fundamentals using ordinary paints and brushes. I am keen to get going on this learning curve but as I indicated to you before finances are just not there. It is lovely to see you in action.

    • @MalcolmDewey
      @MalcolmDewey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. You do not need a lot. The most important part is knowing what to focus on and progress along a structured path. From there you can do anything you want.

    Hello Malcolm. How would you say that these paints compare to Michael Harding? I am moving on from student grade paint, and I am wanting to head in the right direction. Your opinion would be appreciated.

    • @MalcolmDewey
      @MalcolmDewey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would probably go with Michael Harding because I like their buttery paint consistency. Quality of paint? No difference there.

    Hi Malcolm, this is awesome. Thank you! The paints look really good and aren't too terribly expensive either it seems. I started painting a while ago and still have an incredibly hard time to find the right colors. I often find myself attempting to copy the colors I see in a reference perfectly and in the end the painting doesn't look artsy or painterly at all but just like a crappy copy of the reference. I'm already quite decent at seing shapes and forms and not getting tempted to copy them but using them as inspirtation. But colors continue to give me really bad headaches. Do you have any advice? Maybe a video? I couldn't find one that seems related. Thank you anywy! Your work is very inspiring to me

      Thank you! This is a blog article I put together with several color related lessons: www.malcolmdeweyfineart.com/blog/the-ultimate-color-mixing-guide-for-artists
      There could be something there you can pursue. I think a big change comes with learning more about color temperature. Mixing accurate hues are important, but the expressive side comes with using color temperature with more confidence. A lot of trial and error to this, but worth it.

      @@MalcolmDewey It's a family company with their own paint-making philosophy in Belgium. Many people put them on a par with Old Holland but it's a bit apples and oranges (Blockx paints are definitely softer and slower drying, using both linseed oil and poppy oil). Somehow they got me with their marketing even though they're expensive. :D
