Appreciate the video. If you're up for some unsolicited advice read on, otherwise this was a simple thank you comment. Perhaps the next time you do this you could instead use a replay so we can see like for like comparisions. Also as someone else mentioned 1080p with youtube's terrible compression really doesn't cut it for any kind of graphical quality. Even if you record at 1080p, simply uploading it rendered at 1440p will force youtube to use much more bandwidth. 4k is even better - even with a 1080p source.
What recording platform would you recommend to use? I've been recording some hotlaps using OBS but the output quality is just bad even if the in-game gfx are great. My laptop is quite decent but def not high-end.
Think the comparisons would have been better had they all been from the same start and finish and not on random places on the track. Hard to do proper comparisons that way when the lightning and all is different.
Hi Mike appreciate the video. I personally use LCS with purelinear as the filter. It looks so much more natural to my eyes. That is the thing with comparison videos people should just go with what looks good to them as we all have different views.
Maybe I'm missing something, but besides the nice skies, Gamma looks a lot better with the lighting. Especially in the darker settings like dusk and nighttime. Seems like LCS just gives you nice skies. But again, maybe I am not seeing something? And thank you for making a video like this! I never really knew the differences between the two. Even when I play it can be hard to tell when I swap back and forth.
i would agree, however LCS is much better at ambient lighting and sun rays. i do like the aspect, but with the current csp and any ppfiltwr i can find, the lighting on the cars themselves is pitiful compared to gamma, it doesn't show paint finishes correctly, and is all around less great on overall quality. hopefully they can dial this in because the skies and ambient lighting has definitely improved a lot with LCS

See the night driving (c.. 9mins on gamma etc)…. I cannot unsee the block shadows above the cars!! Looks very odd. See it in my own pc too. Like Black cowls… What is that? Dynamic shadows? Looks too much! Is there a CSP setting to reduce or remove?
Hey mike, or anyone else...do you keep 'use extended physics for all cars and tracks' on under cm settings/general patch settings/ Physics Experiments?
Great Video! I Just installed pure 2.0 Yesterday but somehow ITS way too dark and when im make it brighter, the shadows will stay at Most parts of the car and are completely so Theres No Detail at all. Do you know how tobfix that? ( I Changed pp Filters already )
