I can honestly say this has been one of the most singularly entertaining and inspiring things I've seen in a while. Even here at the end I'm sitting here grinning from ear to ear. Thank you very much!
Mr, Mikey McBryan You need to know without a doubt what you have accomplished in this season 1 of plane savers, is remarkable. You have somehow introduced a entirely new group of fans into the world of plane restoration. You have demonstrated exactly what a daily updated summary of a project can do to inspire viewers. You have broken new ground into just what reality television should be, I am so thankful and Thank You so much. I as well as many other viewers so look foreword to the next series. Mikey if you don't know you are a true pioneer.
While at the time the work and long hours seamed hard, it was truly a labor of love to get DTD back in the air. You really don’t realize it now but five, ten, twenty years from now the friendships made in the restoration of DTD will be cherished and remembered for the rest of your lives.
Every day I had a different favorite person. One day it was a small woman going in the tail of the plane. Smiling as I remember Stella painting. Jay explained in a way that I could understand what would take place. Yes, yes. Mikey making it fun. I remember the humble man who came daily through rush hour traffic to give his time and do some video work. I have not known French Canadians. I now like them very much! This has been very special.
I was so honored to have played a VERY small part of this. I have never in 52 years seen such an outpouring of Canadian pride for our heritage and history. AND it would not have happened if you had not decided to take on the project and include us in it. Thank you again Mikey for showcasing what it means to be CANADIAN!!!!!!
No Mikey, it's Thank You to you for allowing us to share and support a very personal six months of your life. You've been an inspiration to so many to get more involved with Plane Saving. Thank You 👍👍👍👍👍
Whatever the final cost, The experience. The camaraderie. The memories. The new frendships. The way you brought us all together. The love. All priceless. Thank you Mikey and the whole gang, you had a dream, you made a difference. You touched so many peoples lives in such a positive way. You had a dream. We believed in your dream. You did not let us down, failure was never an option. You did something amazing.
Most of what needs to be said has already been said, but I would like to add one thing. When you get hooked on a show you normally find yourself rooting for your favourite, but honestly watching the end montage it was like, yea Trent was cool, Jay was fantastic, Pierre and his Lama obsession was great, Fred was like a nutty professor, William and Benjamin were great representatives of the future, Benoit was like the glue pulling it together, Stella was like the best advert for Duracell batteries, some of the other ENA crew I can't remember their names, Ronnie was determined from the start she would fly, Bobby was in it for the long haul, but had to duck out at the end for his family, Joe and Quin were like the gladiators coming in at the end. But what I found was I didn't have a favourite, they were all in their own way the best and unique. What a great story to have to pass on to your friends, family and all the aviation community around the world! And last of all Mikey, I found myself waiting for the next episode and the "PLAAAAANE SAVERRRRRRS" Chorus every day and it became like a motivation for everyone their and watching to see it through to the end. remember that was all down to you, so words are never enough at times like this, so I just want to tip my hat to you and all the crew! Thanks for the best show I have actually watched from beginning to end in a long time! PS, it seems like a long time ago i walked the old runways at Blakeshill Farm and made a few videos, thanks for including some of them in the early episodes, it makes it all feel much more real! Cheers to all from the UK and safe landings to all aviators!
Mikey as a family that had ran an airport and flight school for 45+ years we all joked that to make a SMALL fortune in aviation you had to spend a HUGE fortune. I personally was figuring $ 120,000 so you did well. I'm so glad that you caught the family and passion side. Your season was my most anticipated part of my day and I mean it. You showed the passion in aviation. Only those bit by that bug get it. I wish you luck and eagerly await the next round of "PLANE SAVERS!!"
Planes live, they live through the lives of those who built them , those who fly them ,those who fly in them, those who are inspired by them and finally those that save them, DTD lives because of all of you Thank you Series 2 should be called PLANE SAVERS REBORN!
Truly an accomplishment of a lifetime. DTD survived WWII, post war service & then neglect. Bringing that old warbird to life to honor those who fought & died for our freedom makes this such a wonderful tribute to a fine aircraft. Please keep DTD a survivor.
No. THANK YOU Mikey. Thank you for allowing us to be apart of this journey. Thank you for saving a hero of freedom. Thank you for making us love the people who have a passion for aviation and history. Thank you to the entire team who sacrificed so much to make this happen.
Mikey you had a vision. An amazing feat to make a video a day for many months! A special thanks to Uncle Ronnie. With out ALL of the volunteers you could not have achieved you dream. I bet many veterans who flew in DTD during the war are smiling from Heaven. The Boeing Guy.
The TH-cam revenue really amazed me. A lot of people don't realize that TH-cam takes a huge cut of your TH-cam revenue. You only get something like 40 or 50% of the gross revenue that you generate. Yeah, TH-cam's cut is pretty big. So for Mikey to bring in over 25,000$ on TH-cam, his gross would have been over 50 grand. A big thank you goes out to all of you that watched the Advertisements and helped get him in the highest payout category for TH-cam AdSense (or whatever it is called). He mentioned before that due to the majority of his viewers watching the complete ads and complete videos, even though they only had like 35K subscribers, they were paid as if they had circa 100,000 subscribers. Good jobs guys.
Well done Mikey, the way you pulled this off shows that you have a real talent for this kind of thing. You & the incredible team you put together get a HUGE thanks from everyone who followed this series from all over the world. Can’t wait to see what’s next. 👍🏻🇦🇺
The heart and muscle of the staff from Buffalo Airways and volunteers made it possible. Because of that, support from the public came in. Amazing work guys.
Saving the plane was indeed the goal. The incredible community of people that has come together in support of it is something very, very special, something that couldn't be forced to happen nor could it be stopped once it was in motion. It has been a pleasure...and I look forward to what is coming.
Mikey! I’m sitting here watching this with my wife Annie and applauding and crying. Plane Savers shouldn’t end just yet. Oshkosh is fine, there are a lot of Plane Savers fans that will be there. But, there is another venue that will probably have fans that weren’t able to make Oshkosh-Reno Air Races!!!! If DTD can’t make it, if some of the crew can make it, there will be shade, chairs, food and beverages available to the crew. Let me know if we can assist in some way. Clyde Kawasaki, Race 50 owner.😉
What a great group of people , everyone should be commended for an outstanding job !!! We've all enjoyed watching you all bring that old bird back to life. Only one thing to say........DO IT AGAIN MIKEY !!!
All the stars aligned to get this airplane saved. The confluence of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, a D-Day survivor aircraft, an individual, Mikey McBryan, with the vision, knowledge, ability to motivate and lead people, a big pile of very valuable D.C-3 parts, came together to make this happen. And in the end, it become more than just an airplane story. It was a people story. From the volunteers, the school ENA, everyone who contributed, watched and commented. The scope far beyond a cool airplane and saving it. One of the best things ever on TH-cam. Congratulations Mikey. You earned it.
Mikey McBryan and Plane Savers Crew, TH-cam Family and Volunteers... THANK YOU ONE AND ALL! This DTD project was awesome, entertaining, inspiring and overall was a wonderful example of the power of positivity and great human beings during the whole restoration run! I learned so much. I saw young Rockstar's in the making! I met thru your videos some aviation superstars, Ronnie, Bobby, Stella, Jay, Dustin, Joe, Quinn , Fred, Trent (TUG MASTER DRIVER!) and whole ENA team! I looked forward to every episode like a kid on Christmas morning and I am soo bummed that now I have a whole to fill in my TH-cam viewing heart!! Toughly enjoyed every episode and YOU ALL ARE LEDGENDS! CONGRATLATIONS! Can't wait for season 2! FLY DTD FLY BABY FLY! All the best from USA! o,o
Those that have watched this epic from the beginning, need no reminding that there are so many great people out there willing to help out and do their best. However, it is always good to have that reminder, that innate goodness in people is what makes this world function for the better. Well done, Mikey!
It still brings emotions to the surface when I see the photos of all the team that were involved in getting DTD off the ground. Although I live 13,785 kms away I felt I was there. Brilliant effort by Mikey, Stella and the team. Look forward to what is next on the Plane Savers agenda
Hey Mikey, Your next video should be about the current market value of DTD and what you plan to do with her. DTD is, of course, a priceless piece of aviation history, the history of WWII and the history of humanity's effort to bring into the world and defend freedom and liberty. It is critically important to save her for future generations to witness for themselves a tangible piece of that history. Thank you Mikey for all of your effort to bring DTD back to life. An honorable endeavor!
Glad she got in the air, What an awesome job by you and all the volunteers ! Hope she's being stored out of the elements in a hangar ....... She's a beauty ! Thank You for bringing us along.
YES Mikey you have touched many lives with your journey to Bring DTD back to life. I was an Aircraft crew-chief and mechanic in the army for many years. but never got my A&P certification. just yesterday through you show inspired me to do it at age 62 I am going back to collage to get my A&P license. So I can work on aircraft again .
@Mark Thompson I read your post, and read it again. As it happens, I'll be 62 in seven weeks. I haven't sat in the left seat of a DHC-2 Beaver on floats for a long while. I don't know if I can get re-certified, although I can't think of a good reason not to be now. But I was always interested in Engine and Airframe mechanical work, and helped out with it whenever I could. I don't know if ENA would take me on as a student - I've got some other useful credentials - but you've planted the idea. I was flying a Beaver off the water long before I was old enough for a license. The strange (it seems strange now) was that in the bush, nobody looked sideways at me, or thought twice if I climbed out of the pilot's seat, age 10 or 11 and tied up to the dock. I was lucky - I was taught early by people who did it every day. But you've given me a different idea, and maybe a better one. Guess I'll be on the phone to ENA. Thanks for the inspiration.
@@flyingbeaver57 Thank you. I will be attending Spartian collage in Tulsa Oklahoma. I will be doing the academic part on line and the practical at the campus. Right now I am just going for A&P licence and certifaction . will decide latter if I will go the extra 3 months for Associate degree.
I've watched many tv shows with 100X the budget that were about 1% as interesting as Plane Savers. Great work everybody. Timmy's got so much exposure here they should kick back 10x what you spent in free advertising. Need a marketing guru for season 2 getting sponsors lined up!!
Thanks for the update. It was a great ride (zero to little turbulence!) and beautiful flight to see! Next time, try more home cooking (average person needs $500/month for food) and buy/rent a Bunn coffee maker (buy the tins of Tim's Coffee Grounds from Ukrainian Tire $16.97). SeaCans are cheap to buy ($4,800 for a 40 ft & moving is $3/mile), so consider a purchase if you're thinking of doing this more often. Finally, to each and everyone who watched the progress on TH-cam, purchased merchandise, donated cash, and specially to ENA and the ALL THE VOLUNTEERS, A MILLION THANK YOU'S! Your time and effort will forever be attached to DTD! Cheers!
Because of your attitude and your awesome heart Mikey, I felt part of the family living the dream with you guys. God bless and I look forward to hearing from you again soon.
What a amazing journey, DTD went from a sad old hulk to a proud strong airplane with the help of some amazing people , some working on the plane and others behind the scene. Thank you everyone for a really outstanding job
Thank You!! Thank You!! Thank you!! to Mikey, Stella, Uncle Ronnie, Jay, Dusty, Trent, Buffalo Joe, Benjamin, Bobbie, EVERYBODY, thank you!! So many people, so many names. Take a bow for a job well done. So as Plane Savers Season 1 exits stage left, on to Oshkosh. Look forward to seeing the further adventures of DTD and the Plane Savers crew as they make the trip to particpate at Oshkosh 2019. Lots of other DC-3s, C-47s going to be there, including a number that made the trip over to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and also the 70th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. And of course not forgetting the entire Plane Savers community who watched this all come together via TH-cam and put their time and dollars forward to support the cause.
I have watched every episode from the beginning. It was so cool to watch a piece of history saved. I cried along with you when it flew the first time. Amazing job and huge thank you to all the people who worked on the plane without you we wouldn't have seen it fly. My grandpa was dday veteran so in a way it was just like him too. Thanks mickey
The best series ever. I am so grateful to you, your family, Stella and all the workers and volunteers.ENA is an amazing school. I am currently visiting family in Thunder Bay and it made my year to see DTD in person, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This would've been a great "Heritage Minute". Then again, you and your dad would also be a perfect subject for one. Or, the next time the CBC does a series on great Canadians, the two of you should be in it. As for the next "Plane Savers"? I've said my peace on that in other posts. As for Buffalo Airways... I see Mikey's logic on things like the turboprops. But... Imagine a Space Shuttle... Green, white, and black... hauling cargo (maybe even have a passenger carrying "sked") to the "final frontier"... and painted "Buffalo Airways"! Name it "In Honour of 'Buffalo Joe' McBryan"!
Congratulations Mikey, an incredible accomplishment by everyone connected. All the people who were directly involved should be very proud of their efforts in what was a historical accomplishment done in the most unassuming Canadian way. No prima donnas, no big egos, just plane lovers giving their best to save an old war bird. To the few detractors , well I feel sorry for them that they cannot see how amazing this whole process was from start to finish. Some of us only bought merchandise, and suffered through all the commercials while others devoted weeks of their time and money working directly on the project. To everyone in the Plane Saver family thank you. You make me proud to be part of this country and the amazing people that live here.
What an outstanding tribute to those volunteers who worked so hard . . . and thanks Mikey for putting in a picture of Vincent . . . from the day we heard, "She'll fly again," until today, it's been a wonderful journey! :)
This was all about real people, no ego's or prima donna entitlements. What a result. It has delighted people all around the World and got them clamouring for more.Great accomplishment, which everyone from Mikey, down to the dedicated TH-cam/FaceBook plane enthusiast and everyone in between, it has been a fantastic collaboration. That montage of all the "hand's on" folks left me looking for a Kleenex. There has to be a continuation of some kind to follow, and in the meantime looking forward to the coverage from Oshkosh, where I'm sure the interest will be at an all time high, thanks to the presence of DTD in all her restored glory.
I’d hate to try and add up the number of years of expertise that everyone who laid hands on and pampered DTD back to life would total. Not forgetting the skills which we’ve seen throughout the series that are being passed on to the next generation. God bless you Mikey. You had a great team but leadership starts at the front. Well done !! Here’s to S2 !!
Thank you Mikey ! My eyes got wet a few times from watching the whole season. My faith in mankind is restored and now I know everything is possible. Take good care of Stella. She is just amazing ! You guys belong together ! Clear skies to you both !
Season 1 will forever be stuck in my mind I really enjoyed every minute of plane savers and glad I didn't miss it. From the bottom of my heart and I'm sure many others, Mikey, I feel truly blessed to have been able to watch plane savers thank you
If every project on a historical aircraft could be this impressive and caring, along with this amount of passion, nothing would be sitting dormant half built in a hanger or rotting outside awaiting it's next PLANE SAVERS community. It took the lives of the fallen soldiers who jumped from her and all the forgotten people who over the years who did the regular maintenance to keep this bird flying week in and week out, to allow it to survive for another generation of amazing people to carrying on her first mission. Now she will grace the skies again and carry on with her the legend the soldiers first started when they climbed aboard. They may be gone but the legacy they left by stepping onto this airplane and never to return home will not be forgotten. RIP fallen heroes and let the children grab DTD's new torch once again.
Thank you Mikey, for showing us a wonderful side of Human Nature, with that team you pulled together, with people like that around, there's hope in the World.
Thank you, Mikey for putting this together! As someone who has managed volunteer projects (chairing Science Fiction conventions...) I know how much behind the scenes work goes into coordinating & managing the supplies, logistics and money to keep a project going. Plus you then filmed (videoed?), edited and narrated it...that is a heck of a lot of work!!! Kudos, too, to Stella, whose volunteer coordinating was so important. You probably could have done it without the volunteers, but Season 1 would have been years, not months in length! They were the grease that sped up the restoration to bring DTD back to flight worthiness! Volunteers are worth their weight in gold to a project. It's been a wild, educational & entertaining six months watching Season One of Plane Savers, I look forward to your next project!!!
Thank you Mikey for a truly inspirational series; you were the glue that held everything together. What has ended was the greatest 6 months viewing ever. You will never know the joy, happiness (and sorrow) that you bought into our lives. ... and 'Thank You' for including Vincent.
A hearty congratulations on an endeavor very few would have even considered much less successfully complete. You were blessed with allot of aeronautical engineering and mechanical expertise that you never could put a price on. Can’t wait for season two of “ Plane Savers”!
Thank you Mikey for saying the plane. Thank you to all the volunteers to the mechanics and to Buffalo Air for the loan of the engines to the tail. It was a awesome journey to watch each and it was awesome experience to be part of it by supporting it to feel like a big pRt of the journey. Thank you again
One person who you didn’t thank and did a huge amount was you bro! Thank yourself!? Your dream, daily videos, funding, project management etc made this one successful. So from the supporters, and I’m sure they all agree, Thank You Mikey!! You’re a legend. Because of you we were interested, and because it was you we watched, and gave time and money, and all did what they did. Without you wouldn’t be Plane Savers. We tuned in to watch you and your mission to save DTD. Know that to be 100% fact!!
I Love this Channel. Keep it going Mikey. Your Dad raised one heck of a guy, Well, two of them, You and Rod. Once you get DTD to Red Deer, you should show us a complete tour of her. I am sure that TH-cam revenue will keep coming in.
Well done Mikey, you stayed within budget and on schedule. Not a lot of people can do that. Love it that the TH-cam ad revenue made up such a large fraction of the projects positive income. And It's been an honor to help with the effort as I've watched EVERY episode, liked and commented. And .... I was so glad to hear you say season 1 .... I take that to mean there will be more seasons. I'll help with those too. :)
Sadly I came into the Plane Savers journey a week after D-Day, so I did not get to experience it as it happened. However, I have since watched every single episode from the beginning, and have enjoyed it thoroughly. The work that goes into working on these old birds fascinates me, and I would like to thank you for taking us along. Very excited to see what season 2 brings!
What an uplifting episode. I have to say that it was made possible by the unfautaty dedication that you Mikey put into making the daily episodes that inspired a World of avation lovers to do whatever little bit they could to make the final numbers. Great many thanks to the physical volunteers and ENA who put in the work. Thanks to all the viewers like myself who also contributed via TH-cam. It's an honor to have been a small part of this! Thanks Mikey and Stella for a great trip.
Good on Ya Mikey and all of the volunteers, paid employees of Buffalo and everybody involved. It was really fun to watch the entire series and speaks volumes to your resolve to get the job done. Hats off to the original engineers that designed the DC3.. what a plane! I hope that DTD lives another 50 years!
Mikey, we love you! Thanks. To all the volunteers, thanks and to every Plane Savers!!!! Fan and donater, Thanks. It was a beautiful journey. Hopefully it can continue. Glad to see Vincent in the montage.
Stumbled across the Plane Saver series three days ago and has had a tough job catching up. So much content, so many stories, so much history .. Been a privilege to follow you all through this incredible journey.
The world is full of dreamers, but Mikey you are no dreamer. If you want something hard enough you'll achieve it, and you and all your supporters etc certainly proved that in spades. My Brother-in-law John (airline pilot) is flying out of Australia to attend Oskosh and I've told him all about 'DTD' and to look out for it. Switching on TH-cam certainly won't be the same for a while! All the very best at Oskosh.
Season one is a wrap. Ok Mikey. I can handle that. I can always review it. That said.... Thank you Mikey for all the goosebumps and a few tears. What an adventure man! All the best, Mike (Tug Savers) Season 2 - bring it on!!
Wow, what an ending! This has been one of the most immersive and inclusive documentary series I have ever seen. It's not "just" a TH-cam thing. This is as real as it gets. Congratulations to you Mikey, and to all the volunteers who have become our friends. We all look forward to Season 2.
Hey Mikey, get Buffalo Joe to drag out one of those Norsemen he has stashed away that needs a thorough restoration and get to it! "Plane Savers II, The Birth Of A Norseman!"
Mikey, there's a lot of people that are quite proud that you managed to pull this off. But I know that you Dad/Joe, Mom and Stella are fighting for the top spot. It took a great leader to do it and I cant think of one better than you. I doubt there will ever be a restoration/rescue team better than one with you up front and Uncle Ronnie covering your back. I really wish I could've been there but between health and family it just wasn't possible, but I did send a Paypal donation and faithfully clicked on your videos from day 1 and let the adds run daily from work, phone and the 2 IP's I have at home. I know it's not much but it sure did add up in the end. I bet you probably had some of the highest ad revenue per view out there and it'll be a LONG time before someone does better.
Howard Koch Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I found your Plane Savers January 1 and watched til June 6. The history lessons, the connection of the people to DTD and the June 6 flight fulled me with hope and pride of our aviation history. June 8 was a day of Plane Savers withdrawl symptoms, so your follow up and final videos were very kind. All the best to you and your Plane Savers / Buffalo family. Thank you again.
Wow, now that was by far the most honest account of what you never, ever see on other projects - the budget. It would have been honest with just the bills, but you included the revenues, which are none of our business!! You are a gem, Micky! Whichever your next project is, I’m eagerly awaiting and clearing my schedule for viewing!
Hard to find the words but real inspiring stuff. Thank you for allowing me to share this wonderful project thru every episode and to see that DC3 in the sky where it belongs. I got a real kick out seeing the financial side especially the youtube adverts and how much that raised which was my minor contribution. The very best to all.
Reading the other comments, I have to agree that this was the best thing on YT. I love how you built a team of characters that always kept things interesting. Congratulations to you too, the main character who’s genuine humbleness, and the building up of others was so endearing to each episode. You are a true showman. Thank you!
ENA is probably the biggest sponsor of Plane Savers. Could you imagine if they would have had to pay for the hangar, or all the expert advice and help from the ENA's teachers and students.
I am THRILLED to see the numbers and how well things worked out. Totally understanding that without the support it would have been a much more expensive adventure. I am proud to say I never missed an episode and watched each one as soon as they were posted. Yes I am an aviation enthusiast, especially the military history side. I have also built and covered a number of "kit aircraft" albeit ultra light. Kitfox, Malcolm Merlin GT's (3 of them) Tundra (2), Challenger I & 2 and T-Bird (2). I share that to say your accomplishments go way beyond the physical aircraft! You brought together people of ALL kinds of backgrounds and interests. The spin off's I imagine will go on for a very long time with you finding many lives were positively touched by Plane Savers. For me it also gave me something to focus on as I battle PTSD. It was thrilling to be able to "look forward" to each episode and it helped me a great deal. It was also a personal thing. My great uncle Eric Taylor flew gliders in WWII and took part with "G" Squadron for Operation Varsity. So with Plane Saver's renewing focus on DTD and her history...I was able to connect with family in England who were able to share his war record with me. Mikey. Thank you for that. My story is but a very small one, one of many I am sure. Being able to impact so many people all over the world...with OUT A HUGE PRODUCTION company, editors, etc. Having worked in Radio as an on air personality and responsible for the editing and audio of programs....yeah take a huge bow PLANE SAVERS TEAM! I think "Flightchops" summed it up best when he noted that you were doing this DAILY while being hands on for the other aspects involved. Wow. It STILL amazes me. Congrats to you all and thank you.
Fare thee well, Season One! Well done, everyone, in getting DTD up up and away! And I, for one, welcome my Season Two Overlord, whenever it shows up, and whatever plane is being Saved. Looking forward to it!
Thank's Mikey; You are an incredible person, who has brought so many people together to achieve a goal. Through teamwork, dedication and the spirit of resurrecting an icon. Dreams came true and everlasting friendships were made. I am proud of you as for sure everyone can agree. Cheers my friend.
So cool man. Proud to have been a part of this, such a coming together of like minded people. AND.....I absolutely love the last photo of Uncle Ronnie, Joe and Quin.
What a cool wrap! and at least on paper you broke even. Good work. Even with free admission I can't make Oshkosh but I'll be hanging around in spirit. You done good!
Plane Savers has been the best show I have seen! It has stirred up my emotions and I loved every moment of it. The volunteers, the Buffalo staff, The school and you too Mikey, and your lovely wife are all wonderful.
YOU GOT THE NAME WRONG. Yes Mikey. I know I am your weirdest fan. But you got the name of the series wrong. As “thrown together” as the photo montage was (and I am an expert on thrown together) it reminded me of how much joy this series brought to so many lives, my own included. It was so good to see what I consider to be “my old friends” in so many defining (and humorous) moments of this journey. And to you, Big Guy. Without you and the Golden Eagle (aka Stella) none of the other people would have been involved. Your passion was the AVGAS that propelled this dream off the runway (actually the taxiway) and into the air. You may not be the pilot your father is but you are every inch a legend in your own domain and we all owe you a debt of gratitude for not only having this vision but also bringing life to it. So yeah. The name is wrong. And I don’t expect you to change it. But every single one of you that appeared in this production is a Plane Hero. I ain’t gonna list names. I can’t. I would miss twice as many as Mikey did. You did a great thing in an era of mediocrity and laziness. Thanks for showing us what great results hard work and dedication and civility can bring to peoples lives. You are all the best.
Eric, you have absolutely hit the nail right on the head. I had tears of joy and some of sadness too when viewing that montage. All those fabulous people, not just friends, we love them like family. No egotists. just fantastic people, warm and friendly, but also skilled and hard working. Boy how I miss seeing them every day taking this project ever closer to completion. Thank you Mikey for sharing with us the rebirth of DTD, and introducing your fantastic team to us all. The work that you put in to keep us up to speed with the blog must have been just insane, Thank You , Thank You , Thank You. As an added bonus, my Stella in the Hamburger Door T shirt arrived yesterday;-)
@@cf6282 That he did CF, in the early stages I felt that it sounded a little childish, but as time went on, I enjoyed the whole crew chiming in when DTD was in the ENA hanger, and on June 6th, when the crowd let rip, I think that my vision blurred a bit. Greetings to you and all fellow enthusiasts from Tasmania, Australia.
I flew on a DC-3 while I was in the USAF and was a jet mechanic with them for 14 years and I applaud you Mikey and all the volunteers for the huge effort all put forth on this project. I was not aware of this until now but want to tell you what a wonderful job you did. Thanks!
Great numbers epilogue! You have a good headstart on your next Timmie's mortgage...Thanks for a wonderfully entertaining and uplifting 160 or so episodes, and we all knew from the start that she would ...fly... I almost wanted to say it how Stella so beautifully did on DTDay, but yes, family friendly. Best in your next endeavors!
Mikey that is an extraordinary enterprise, you and all your colleagues must be very proud of what you have achieved, not least of which is to bring so many people together in a worthwhile endeavour. I’m sorry I came to it late, it only landed in my TH-cam feed when I was looking for videos of the D-Day Dakota flights over Normandy, so I binge watched the entire series after June 6. Thanks. 🇨🇦🇬🇧👍
Thank you for all the episodes! Everybody did a great job taking DTD back to the skies. It's an honor to save this piece of history to remember all the sacrifies being made. Lets we forget! Looking forward for the secret project of season 2 :p
I think I watched just about every video in the series over at least 6 months? I think when you consider that the engines, props, landing gear, new tires, oil and many other parts were supplied by Buffalo Airline, would have cost a huge amount if they were purchased on the open market and if the airplane was sent out to a plane restoring company, it probably cost over one million dollars to get it in the air! The other part that I think would have been all but impossible for and outside company to make it flyable, would have been the time deadline? Well done by all who helped Mickey and his crew of paid and volunteer workers! My bald head is exposed as my hat is off to all of you!
Great wrap-up summary, Mikey. A herculean effort by so many and pleased to see that the contributions in all of the categories really exhibited the enthusiasm and support your project created. I now know a lot more about the geography of the NWT and northern Alberta. Also, I had no idea there were so many similar "plane saving" projects world wide. So, I hope to see you in Oshkosh. My wife and I are planning the 1300 mile trip on our Harley-Davidson, albeit low and slow. Take care.
A bit emotional adding those numbers up as you went. . I started to realize your ahead! What an amazing community. Seriously inspiring. Way to go mikey, and way to go team.
Amazing how fast this 3 went together. An absolute astounding group of people. I hope she can get her own props and keep flying. Astounding videos and finish up. Thanks for your time, Lee
Thank you and all the volunteers for all the hard work to make DTD fly again. It was great to watch older aircraft mechanics past on their love and knowledge of vintage aircraft. Then to see the new young mechanics and students fall in love with older aircraft. The bonding of the hold group working, laughing and enjoying themselves made me feel young again. It reminded me when I first started working on aircraft in the service back in the mid 70's. I hope you can do a 1 year reunion of the plane savers, just to see how they are all doing. Plane saver became like a family to you. Thank you Mikey
This could all have gone so wrong! It was a risk, no doubt about that. But you did it.. You have done an amazing job, not only on DTD, but also bringing people from around the world who never dreamt that they would have anything in common, into one common cause. As has been said, It's been educational, inspiring and entertaining. Thank you so much... See you soon.
It's amazing that the airplane restoration was crowd funded! Thanks to all the volunteers, contributors, and Buffalo crew.
I can honestly say this has been one of the most singularly entertaining and inspiring things I've seen in a while. Even here at the end I'm sitting here grinning from ear to ear. Thank you very much!
Yes! I agree. I hope to see more of Mikey and his adventures in aviation.
Planes live, they live through the lives of those who built them , those who fly them ,those who fly in them, those who are inspired by them and finally those that save them, DTD lives because of all of you Thank you
Series 2 should be called PLANE SAVERS REBORN!
Truly an accomplishment of a lifetime. DTD survived WWII, post war service & then neglect. Bringing that old warbird to life to honor those who fought & died for our freedom makes this such a wonderful tribute to a fine aircraft. Please keep DTD a survivor.
All the Volunteers who donated their services..., Priceless! What an Awesome group of people!
Way to go Mikey, That was class to include Vincent in your montage.
I already miss having all of these wonderful folks in my daily life. Best wishes to you all!
It still brings emotions to the surface when I see the photos of all the team that were involved in getting DTD off the ground. Although I live 13,785 kms away I felt I was there. Brilliant effort by Mikey, Stella and the team. Look forward to what is next on the Plane Savers agenda
Hey Mikey,
Your next video should be about the current market value of DTD and what you plan to do with her.
How are you going Lea?
@@paulrourke4785 I'm hanging in there Paul. How are you partner? :)
@@LeaMacDonald Good Mate! Good to hear you are hanging in, stay well as you can be.
$3049? just about enough for a honeymoon Mikey!!! And thank you for the entertainment, enthusiasm, laughs and eventual success!
That salute towards the end of all the people that helped out damn near brought tears to my eyes.
The lesson is..do what you love. In tears once again, what a great series
Mickey , a man of your talent should be running for prime minister of Canada! you have the TALENT.
It would not have been a “Canadian show” without a Timmies budget!
Haha, you are sooo right
Thank you Mikey for saying the plane.
Thank you so much for sharing the journey of re-building such a great plane that did not deserve to die............😉
Your numbers do not including all the volunteer labor which was priceless!!
Thanks for accounting Mikey.
PS ending montage excellent..
gmcjetpilot Fabulous crew!
All the best, Mike (Tug Savers)
Season 2 - bring it on!!
Wow, what an ending! This has been one of the most immersive and inclusive documentary series I have ever seen. It's not "just" a TH-cam thing. This is as real as it gets. Congratulations to you Mikey, and to all the volunteers who have become our friends. We all look forward to Season 2.
Food is a gift.
Enjoy.
Howard Koch
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Thank you for allowing me to share this wonderful project thru every episode and to
see that DC3 in the sky where it belongs. I got a real kick out seeing the financial side especially the youtube adverts and how much
that raised which was my minor contribution. The very best to all.
Reading the other comments, I have to agree that this was the best thing on YT. I love how you built a team of characters that always kept things interesting. Congratulations to you too, the main character who’s genuine humbleness, and the building up of others was so endearing to each episode. You are a true showman. Thank you!
Keep going Mikey. Keep it alive man.
Was worth the price of admission to a unique brother/sister hood. It was fun. Maybe one day We might get a ride in it, my fondest wish.
Amazing number Mikey! ENA was so incredibly helpful providing labor, hanger space, expertise, and more. God bless all the volunteers.
I don't think you would have reach it in time money and expertise without ENA. A big big thank you to them.
I did not know about ENA but Mikey sure put it on the map! What a great school!
Beautifully put Digsby..
Fare thee well, Season One! Well done, everyone, in getting DTD up up and away!
And I, for one, welcome my Season Two Overlord, whenever it shows up, and whatever plane is being Saved. Looking forward to it!
Thank you !! This was a once in a lifetime event with so many planets and orbits aligning!!
KUDOS Mickey... you have renewed my belief that people care about sincere aviation legends. Thank you!
I think that you deserve the biggest part of the credit for such a success! Congratulation.
What a cool wrap! and at least on paper you broke even. Good work. Even with free admission I can't make Oshkosh but I'll be hanging around in spirit. You done good!
Mikey, as I know Plane Savers is worldwide. What you did with DTD couldn't have been more Canadian in every aspect. In my opinion. Awesome.
Plane Savers has been the best show I have seen! It has stirred up my emotions and I loved every moment of it. The volunteers, the Buffalo staff, The school and you too Mikey, and your lovely wife are all wonderful.
Thomas Crouch, Unless it just happened, Mikey and Stella aren't yet married.
A really nice and very fitting tribute Eric ..
Absolutely
Rope Tangler He intoduced that famous shout out : Plane Savers!!!!!!!!! Great to hear the crowd shout that out on June 6th!
Thanks. 🇨🇦🇬🇧👍
Thanks Mikey! It was fun to meet you at Oshkosh. Thanks for letting my son be "the gatekeeper" great job on bringing a flying vetran back to life!
Don't wait too long for Season 2 .. don't let the channel go cold.
See you at Oshkosh Mikey and thanks to you ,Stella and all the volunteers BRAVO !✈️✈️🚁🚁🛫🛫🛬🛬🛬
Thanks for your time,
Lee
