- The 2023 AMA Pro Motocross Championship is here, and Jason Weigandt walks and talks through the press day kickoff, chatting with riders at the Pala Casino, which hosted a press conference, and then over to the track at Fox Raceway. Hear from a bunch of contenders about the prep and strategy heading into the new campaign.

Farres is going to be the biggest sleeper in 250s I bet. He's was good last season and a great starter. Can only imagine how improved he will be with a full season of outdoor testing and being on the program with Swany and the rest of the Star boys
He will give Deegan a run for his money
100%. He looked smooth last year, kinda has a similar style like Haiden too. Be curious to see which of the star rider(s) are fastest and if it causes any drama in the team. You know cooper and Haiden probably aren’t going anywhere, but the rest are definitely going to be racing to keep their spot on the team, although pretty sure kitchen is already leaving after this season and ofcourse smith is older.

Freddy could get some good results outdoors. Especially the way the class is right now he will be sitting good by the time smx rolls around.

I really hope, Webb, Freddie, Plessenger, AC and others can keep the pace and run with Dylan, Chase and Jett in the 450s!
It was just press day riding, but AP and webb were looking pretty fast. Idk how much either will push outdoors, but you know cooper is kicking himself after getting hurt and basically losing the sx title after he watched Tomac get injured and may want to come out and give sexton and Jett the business. Doubt it’ll happen but ya never know lol
The 250 class is where it is at this season. So stacked.
It's gonna be a good outdoor season !! 250s are stacked !! Hunter, Joe, Cooper, Smith, Deegan, Levi, Hampshire, swole, moismen, viale, and alot more !
Also got hymas, Ryder D, jett Reynolds. I’m a deegan fan but ryder was having some solid rides last year at a few nationals, getting the holeshot in a couple of them. Him, Haiden, and hymas should have some good battles.

I think vohland is a sleeper if he can stay healthy. It was just press day but he was looking fast and definitely showed some speed in sx. See if he can keep a fast pace up for a whole moto outdoors though, that’s what separates the very good from the elite.

Dan hubbard is one of the worst things to happen to SX/MX broadcasting. Anytime in qualifying they can’t talk about smith without talking about the run in with deegan or won’t mention hunter without mentioning jett. It’s fucking gross

Big question, can J Coop race the 250 smx races? He pointed out of 250 supercross, but racing 250 outdoors. How does that work
If you win a race then you’re automatically in regardless of points
Which officiating body declares someone has pointed out? Is it the AMA? That whole system is confusing to me. Plus they just changed the rules, so I think you’ve raised a good question.

This year or the first part is going to the 250 class, so many riders out in 450, its probably going to be the Sexton, Lawrence show, which isn't too fun to watch one person up front by themselves
I think cooper, ferrandis, and maybe AC are going to give them a run. Maybe not AC, he’s got the speed but idk if he can hang on at that pace for a for 30 minute moto, much less two of them. Would love to see AC get him a win.

So much talk about Jett , to me it’s clear the bike is heavy for him he might hang on the first couple but the 450 will wear on him if you think he special or not rookie a rookie sorry hate to break it to ya
Jett is going to be a handful for all of the 450cc guys. He is a different type of rider. The only guy that can challenge Jett is Sexton. If Jett doesn't make a big mistake with a crash he will be in the hunt for the championship. Don't under estimate his speed and talent. Sexton is the only rider that can beat Jett for the championship.
AC had 1 second to square up the turn, and maybe let off? He was at the apex of the turn looking down at coop. 1 second to these guys is like 5 min. to us! Instead,' he clutched it and roosted on coops head. NO ACCIDENT. The #9 has the speed (for 5 laps) but will never be able to retain it for the whole season. Kawi should have dropped him 2 years ago, Justin Hill pulled that podium, Just proves my point... PS, an unprepared Coop will beat him over all in the season.

The reason why Cooper is so happy is because Jett Lawrence is not racing the 250 class and will not be there to make him look bad. Now he might have a chance. We will see.

$25k is not much these days Weege. 50th in final annual points should walk with $200k minimum in 450 Pro, and $100k for 250 Pro. And for the millions of fans in US and world demographics... Better mangagement and marketing should be more than capable coming up with professional pay. I think there might be more purse money in Arenacross or even Open Money races across the US... No real good excuse, just greed holding back the sports athletes for way too long.. Then people will be way more inclined to watch $Millionairs that came up from the amature ranks. Pay hasn't increased much in over 30 yrs.. btw, audio was????
