This is a brand I’ve learned a little bit about but not much, they definitely deserve a lot more love and respect from the watch enthusiast community. For all the constant talk about the same brands all the time, that town in Germany shows you what can be done. when you look what they do with the movements just like one of their counterparts in that town it’s incredible.
They use ETA-Based calibers that are all completely hand assembled, regulated and decorated in Glashütte. In addition to that they make their own parts which they incorporate in- or onto the movement (e.g. a custom rotor, modifications on the balance, custom bridges). As part of the Swatch Group they are positioned as Longines (way above Tissot etc. but under Glashütte Original, Omega etc.) but in my opinion offer alot more craftsmanship than anything in that price range. I own two of their watches and the finishing, regulation of the movement, case, bracelet and dial are top notch.
Finally Teddy! I've been waiting for this for so long. Union Glashütte really doesn't get enough attention at all and seems to be overlooked by most of the international watch community. I personally own two watches from them (a beautiful "Noramis Power Reserve" with a silver dial and blued hands as well as a "Belisar Pilot" with screwed on case flanks a highly legible black pilot's dial with white indices, hands and hour markers and a beautiful onion crown) and love them both. The depth of production and the quality as well as the price for what is on offer speak for itself- everything is just right here. One of the definitve picks from Glashütte. Thanks so much for breaking the silence on this underrated brand.
Absolutely agree. I'm Scottish and we don't get them in the UK. I have two and they are astounding quality and finish for the price. I have the noramis chrono and 1893 small second. Absolutely stunning. The noramis divers chrono is utterly gorgeous.
Well this one is actually just the cheap subbrand from Glashütte original, that just cases eta movements they get from being in the swatch group, really nothing special
@@valentinhe1675 Watching the video it was evident that a lot of work had been done to the movements. Certainly they aren't up with GO but compare prices.
Their chronographs and men’s dress watches are some of my favorite pieces, if I were considerably richer I would have a watch box full of Union Glashütte and Glashütte Original watches
The more Glashutte brands i become aware of, the more watches i want to buy. My Nomos watches have such a beautiful color and finished dial with the in-house movements being the icing on the cake. Thank you for this, will definitely check these guys out.
This look at Union Glashütte is nice to see. I’ve seen these watches in display windows and thought the designs look cool. Nice to know more about the brand.
The Noramis Date series look stunning ! Will have to see it live in the next days. 40mm and 10.4 - great size and thickness. The price is very attractive. Thanks for sharing 👋🏼
Thanks Teddy! Another great portrait of a great company that has been flying a bit under the radar. Super impressed with their watch designs and craftsmanship. UG has been on my list for a while, just need to find a dealer here in Australia. Tobias- Tolles interview und deine Ausfuehrungen waren super informativ. Eure Kollektion verdient deutlich mehr Aufmerksamkeit. Weiter so!
I really appreciate the Clean "less is more" aesthetic of the Glashutte region watches and own several. The quality and value and LACK of Hype makes them that much more appealing to me. I Wear All of them despite the grumbling of the Swiss in my collection. Will look at Union in more detail. Thanks Teddy!
Amazing video. I have two Union watches amongst several so called higher end offerimgs. I have a 1893 small second and a Noramis chrono. The quality is outstanding, its waaaaaay above its price point imho. If you google the Union Glashutte headquarters on images, you will see that they appear to be dual branded with the illustrious Glashutte Original. Fantastic watches. Best wishes from Scotland. Absolutely love Union.
Yeah, I thought the Averin Chronograph is really unique! When first seeing it, I couldn't help but draw a comparison to the Heuer Monaco. It doesn't take long to realize it is truly unique, and a true value for the price. My wife even liked it a lot, which is essentially opening up the door for me to purchase one!! I hope Teddy becomes the first US AD of Union.
The Averin Chronograph is impressive 😮 the full calendar is very cool 😎 thank you Teddy always introducing me to great looking watches I never knew existed 🤨
@Teddy, thank you and your team for bringing us brands and content that's not just, same old same old. Based heavily aound the big marketing spend brands. Such as the "crown" and its friends.
Nice video, Teddy, about one of the underrated German brands! I hope that the brands produced by the German watch company Pointtec (Zeppelin, Bauhaus, Iron Annie and Ruhla) will be soon presented on your TH-cam channel as well :)
The yellow date is beautiful! Thank you for bringing the brand to our attention…. Best get saving! Good thing about the brand is it shouldn’t take too long to obtain something as beautiful as that!
As a German they are very available to us, since every little and big watch retailer got them. Just yesterday I got my hands on a couple of them. They are gorgeous and so well executed, the feel somehow so well balanced and filigrane yet very robust! A friend bought a diver a couple years ago and gets much more attention and recognition than any submariner
The Moon Phase and the Date Sport are real nice lookers!! They need to get their watches out there with more marketing, some track records in the US, and I’m sure it can stand next to the others in this segment! Hope you’ll carry this, Teddy!
Hopefully you’ll visit Sinn, too. I live 15 minutes from Frankfurt where they are located, their watches just look and feel so different, and afaik they are the only watch brand that doesn’t have a shop right next to all the other brands like Rolex, Omega, ALS and so on - although it’s just a 10 min walk.
Nice watches, but too large (e.g., thickness) for my 6.4in wrist. Size proportions are very important to me, especially the lug to lug length which wasn't provided. Cheers.
OMG! I love the small date windows. A Lange & Söhne could learn a thing or two about how to do date windows correctly from Glashüette... and don't even try selling me the Sempre Opera House BS.
Browsed their website and wow I love their designs! Edit: So they don't sell here in Singapore... hope to pick one up someday! The Noramis' colorful dials are really fun!
The Noramis Date looks great in orange and red - too bad I wear too sporty stuff and wouldn't work for me. The sport version feels a bit less original and reminds me of Oris aquis, but that's a bit superficial and does have some nice things. The 2 pattern hour markers and hands are great. The Belisar is really pretty too, i would also not match my style, but if it I was a rich person with a sporty car collection I would pick this colour combination that you shown. The caliber seems well chosen and nice decorations. Interesting. You always learn something. Reminded me I should take a long weekend to visit Dresden and pay a visit to the Glasshutte watch museum soon.
I realy love some of their watches and even own one and it is not just a marketing lie that you get very much and more than from many swiss brands for you money. The only big problem is that Union Glashütte had no good idea for the watches with bezels especially the divers. These are quite boring and do not share enough of the design language with their more popular watches. If they would concentrate on the (vintage) racing / automotive theme even more with all their watches, they would get more unique. For the divers a design idea could be: "1950s/1960s going on vacation by car to italy", like so many germans did during this time.
I have to be honest I thought 5 minutes in to this video that these watches would be affordable in the sense that they aren’t $30k. the prices really do seem affordable, most regular folks would have to save for sure but it’s doable!
The pricing is incredible for the level of "hands-on" build quality... This definitely distracts me from CW... Here you see more "art" and unique design language (most are too large for me, but regardless) we need more players like these
I've been a fan of their watches for quite some time. I believe I can only purchase their watches in Europe so I am hoping to get a closer look later this year!
It's so impressive that you are telling me what German Brands there are, to me as a German myselfe. The only German Brand I knew already before you told me, was Junghans, but Nomos and all the other ones, I got to know through you, thank you and I'm glad that you bring a bit of international love into Germany, which is quite unusal and makes you unique in the watch niche.
Hi! New subscriber here. I am a teacher (professor) every Monday to Friday and a scientist (biologist) every Saturday and a father every Sunday. What watches would you recommend for me to wear? I like Tissot and Casio G-Shock watches. Please give me recommendations.
Beautiful timepieces, thanks for sharing! The only thing I stumbled over is the combination of design elements on the Belisar. The dial and hands with their colors look vintage, but the 2 pushers with app-style icons seem "off".
yesssssss! Will be my next purchase. Ill always love nomos more bcse everything in house. But a dürrstein edition even with with a ETA is something i WANT.
been very excited by this brand and I’ve been looking forward to a video, but unfortunately they don’t seem to be available in the United Kingdom, which is obviously one of the biggest Watch markets
These are some really nice watches, I wish someone were slightly smaller and I wish they had more accessibility in the United States. That first watch, all the complications, it's just a really nice package. And then the square watch, it's unique enough that it would certainly suit my collection.
This channel needs a warning label: “Maybe dangerous to your wallet!” That moon phase is gorgeous. Are you adding them as a brand? BTW - Thanks for introducing the brand. I had never heard of them.
A similar video at the Sinn HQ would also be very interesting:)
One of the visits near the top of my list. I am sure a lot to show with their extreme testing standards.
Thanks for the quick response! :) greetings from Germany :)
And Hanhart…
Don't forget about Damasko!
@@TeddyBaldassarreAnd A. Lange & Söhne as well. Thanks Teddy! :)
I love these sit down sessions...and, also two young guys passionate about watches...bodes well for the future of watchmaking.
The first 'serious' watch I bought is a Union Glashütte. Noramis Date. Very happy with that piece.
German watches will make a boom coming decade!

Is most of the watch hand made / finished from Union?
I’d never heard of Union before, so thanks for shining a light on what clearly is a fantastic brand, with some great designs and an engaging history ❤

I think the Averin is my next grail watch. That date function is absolutely fantastic.
Good vid. Stopped it midway through and looked for a Union Glaschutte on eBay. Didn't find what I sought, but will keep looking! Keep at it!
Union Glashutte is definitely flying very low under the radar. They have some great offerings.
The averin chronograph looks awesome, I like that special date pointer mechanism, it's unique.
