The greatest determining factor for the patterning of variegating is light. As counterintuitive as it would seem: more light produces more variegation. Unfortunately the white parts burn more easily. You want to give it as much sun as possible without burning it. The same is true for the golden pothos. More sun=more gold. If you're growing indoors then just give it as much light as possible. Glass windows block most UV, so it's almost impossible to burn leaves. If you put it outside only let direct sunlight hit it in the wee morning hours.
If you put these in low light they will lose variegation (and are significantly more likely to revert to plain green) regardless of how much white was on the original cutting.
I have a marble queen cutting that is 95% white, hardly any green left. It is gorgeous, but another drawback to having less green is that the plant will grow so much slower.

@taylorhillard4868 not all variegation is light dependant. A good example of unstable variegation is the Monstera albo. That plant will lose its variegation if not given the proper care/light. vs the Thai Constellation, a stable variegation. It won't lose its variegation in lower light situations.

I'm lucky enough to have 4 cats and a dog that only pay any attention to my MANY plants when they get too dry. IF that happens they rub on the plants, and one cat even meows loudly... Nag! 😂

I regret to inform you that they are not the same. The "snow queen" even if you leave it in a dark place does not lose that dot pattern, it becomes greener but with the same pattern. But, if you leave the "marble" in a less illuminated place, it begins to have increasingly greener leaves, almost completely losing that pattern of points. I have both. 🌱💚

Eager to see how this goes! Would love to make my marbles into snow. I also have both dark and light variegation on my neon!

My marble queen had white variegation but it got sick. After I cut it back and put it in water (like you did). It came back yellow variegated😔

I'm not sure how this might have happened, but I'm doing some research on how can plants get a yellow coloration. Might have to talk to some researchers tho. We'll keep you posted =)

I bought marble queen and for some reasons over time, it is now snow queen.

My plant did something similar. My marble queen was not doing very good. So, I set it out in my patio during the summertime and it started thriving. And all the new leaves are now almost all white. White with hardly any variegation. It's so pretty now and was shocked because I never knew it could do that.

They're not the same. The marble queen can grow taller and larger leaves than snow queen.

Lol, I think she just wants to experiment. Even if she’s wrong with her way of thinking, it’s honestly not that deep. The fact that you made a comment 9 months ago and then another 2 months ago is a bit much. Have a great day! 😊
