- Ten years ago, Kenya deployed her troops to Somalia to fight Al-Shabaab militants and create a buffer zone to prevent them from crossing over to launch attacks on our soil. The soldiers have managed to keep the terrorists at bay but for some, not without paying a heavy price. Several soldiers have lost their lives and several others left with permanent injuries. Waihiga Mwaura brings us the story of Major Alex Hinga who nearly lost his legs fighting Al-Shabaab militants.

The story is not complete Wahiga did not tell us about the amputation and what kind of prosthetic did the Major get and what was his recovery time and did it affect him in his duties?
