This is my favorite piece of writing from any of tolkien's works. Hurin, a mortal man, face to face with the literal root of all evil, and still chooses to spit him in the face. That takes hella balls
Exactly! Well put, my friend. And this reminder from Húrin provoked Melkor’s wrath and so his curse was a clear act of spiteful revenge. The curse he inflicted upon their family still remains one of his worst deeds.
@@mediaman271 It also shows just how far he who was once the first among the Valar had fallen by this point, using his vast power in an act of petty sadism against one mortal man just for defying him.
I doubt he would have approved in any way. Personally I never saw Rings of Power because I was already wary of it. But from what I’ve heard and seen once Season 1 was finished I know I made the right decision. Instead I look forward to whatever Tolkien or Arda related book is released next. The Fall of Númenor was an excellent book and worth a read. That book actually focuses on the events surrounding the Second Age of Middle-earth and the aftermath of the First Age. As well as the Fall of the island of Númenor itself and then after the Last Alliance of Elves and Men uniting against Sauron at the end of the SA. Highly recommend the book for any Tolkien fan. Or the audiobook as well, which is brilliant.
I’d personally love to have had him read all of Tolkiens books in audiobook form just like with The Children of Húrin. Silmarillion, Hobbit, TLOTR, History of Middle-earth all of them.
Indeed I tend to agree. It wouldn’t surprise me if Tolkien’s works might have also helped inspire Kentaro Miura’s works in some way. I don’t have anything at the moment to support that theory but I do think it might have in some way. Or maybe I just see a lot of similarities between the dark stories of Guts and of Túrin.
@@anundo Good director. Although I wouldn’t want them to make a movie based on it. For one the story is too big and has so much details the film could never portray. And also because of the state that Hollywood and the film industry in general are in I know they would certainly screw it all up. I’m content with the book just the way it is. Not everything has to be live-action movies.
Excellent use of both Christopher Lee’s reading and Berserk’s visuals. I never considered these two favorites of mine combined, but MAN it works so well!!!

Absolutely loved this passage, couldn't stop listening to repeatedly the first time
I’m glad you enjoy it!
It’s also one of my favourite passages in literature.
Christopher Lee’s voice for Morgoth is actually pretty cool.
Void does have that Morgoth like look to him, aside from the brain
“Who is Jon? I am the Elder King hovering above…”
“Boogidy Boogidy boo! I am Melkor! Your efforts are worthleeeeeeeeeeeeeesss!”
@@mediaman271 yes a man who is cultured in the art of English dub bloopers
@@lucaricci1987 No you have no control. Not even your own will.
But yeah the Berserk outtakes are just the best ever!
Void was created by Morgoth……
By this stage, Morgoth had convinced himself that he was God. Hurin, by reminding him that he was not, struck him to the core of his being.

Crazy to think how different the FA would've turned out to be if Hurin wouldn't have been such a badass during the battle of unnumbered tears.
Sir Christopher Lee narrating was a surprise! I was trying to convince myself for a few moments that I was not mishearing it!
Christopher Lee was a Tolkien scholar ,i bet he would have been mortified with the rings of power . Like the rest of us Tolkien readers
I doubt he would have approved in any way.

Or the fall of Gondolin. Though Samuel West did a wonderful job

I have always considered Berserk as the closest thing to Tolkien manga has to offer

If Children of Hurin should ever to be adapted to film, I hope Robert Eggers to direct it!
