It’s funny, I just watched moana with my daughter, and when the water moves out of her way, she said to me “only God can do that.” I loved hearing her say that with such conviction.

I'm not a mom, but alot of this resonates with me. I simply don't do manicures, hair salons, wasteful shopping, extravagant spending, and I stopped wanting what everyone else has. I've also recently stopped going on Facebook and Instagram because it just sends messages of how I should live, what I should buy, how I should look, etc. I've reduced the videos I watch on TH-cam as well. I only watch content that up lifts me, makes me feel peaceful, enhances my life and inspires me to live an abundant , slow and meaningful existence.

Wow the way this literally felt like a weight lifted to hear someone else say this out loud. I stopped watching “innocent” Disney movies as a teenager because the Lord convicted me of this and now as a mama sometimes I feel crazy because of the convictions I have that are soooooo different from my friends and family to hear someone say this I truly cannot explain the peace it gives me! THANK YOU!!!!!!!! For being so bold and being obedient to the call of God!

I think what’s being described in the video is wanting children to maintain their black and white thinking into adulthood. The world is nuanced and complicated, I do agree however when minds are that young and impressionable it is important to guard them until they are able to discern for themselves how they would like to carry themselves through the world. I understand the fear, but I would rather love, joy and peace reign over my little ones heart. And I would never want them to be afraid of their curiosity or the unknown. Fear brings out such an ugly side of people.

We are all just being called in different pockets of the world to be the gatekeepers of our children’s innocence and raise them in the way they should go. It isn’t easy, it isn’t the path of least resistance… but God rewards those who earnestly seek Him. I think the most important thing is to explain and teach your children why you are raising them the way you are. Tell them why you don't allow them to do certain things. It doesn't mean they may never push boundaries or walk in disobedience but if you've told them why and they do it and see that truth come to past they'll trust you and understand your wisdom.

....I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade. But I'm feeling called to say this is exactly how my parents and everyone they allowed us around thought, and viewed Christianity, and we were drowned in it from every direction.
And even though I still consider myself a Christian this type of Christianity was extraordinarily damaging to me, personally, growing up, and in my 20s. And even now in my 30s I'm going to have to stop watching the rest of this video because I just can't relive this again.
This type of Christianity does not leave room for the kids to feel safe being who they are, if their natural personality and interests don't fit inside this teeny tiny little box this makes.
And the adults who think this is the way to do it, I understand most of them are coming from a good place. But the position of power you hold over the minors in your lives should not be this kind of stranglehold and gatekeeping practice. None of you think that's what you're doing. But for any child who inherently does not fit this very restrictive lifestyle and way of thinking, you're all telling them there is something wrong with them. And they'll either learn to hate who they are and try desperately to change, to fit inside this constrictive box, or they'll learn to hide who they really are from every one of you until they can escape. This type of Christianity does not have the room you all think it does for love and acceptance. Some people will naturally fit inside this box just fine, and they'll do just fine. The others as they grow up will have to decide between hating themselves or hating this religion.
And the response that this isn't true, we teach that God loves everyone just the way he made them, or that everyone falls short of the glory of God, and that's the beauty of his sacrifice at the cross, if anything like those crossed your mind in response, you're missing the whole point. This type of raising a child is teaching some of them that who they are isn't good enough, to you adults, unless they change into meeting your expectations. And they will grow up seeing clear evidence that God made some of their classmates to fit what everyone says he wants, and they won't understand why he would do that for one person, and then turn around and make THEM so very different from what they're being taught God wants them to be. Why does God hate me so much that he made me into someone that isn't who he everyone says he wants? My best friend isn't like this. He made her already almost what he wants. Why didn't he do that for me?
And this kind of strict ideology will eventually keep those kids from coming to you to ask for help or understanding, because there ultimately won't be room in their families' beliefs for them to keep asking. The answers will always come back to the same couple things, and won't fit or feel genuine to who that child, or teen, or young adult feels that they are.
Please listen to them if you find out you have one of these kids. Please don't kill them with religion. Please don't carelessly kill their spirit or self acceptance for the sake of "protecting " them or keeping them pure, or even raising them up in the way they should go. At some point they have to be your kid again, and not first and foremost this person that you have to train into being the best Christian they can be. If that kid desires to be a Christian and can't be the same limited type you're talking about wanting to raise, they need to know that no matter what they're your child first. Even if they don't fit inside this tiny box. You can't spend 18 years trying to force them to fit when they know they don't, and expect to get a healthy, emotionally strong and stable, happy adult out of it at the end. So many people are driven away from Christianity because this is the situation they grew up in. Good people trying to do right by God first then their child, and being too blinded by all the ways you can protect them and limit them. And the child growing up angry, scared, sad, disassociated, or self loathing, because they never fit what those good people wanted for them and from them.
Everyone has the right to make their own parenting decisions, and free will was God's greatest gift when he created mankind. But please consider what the adults who grew up in these types of rules and limitations can say about that now, as adults. I'm far from the only one who spent years trying to decide who I hated more, myself for being someone different than was expected and praised, or God for making me this different person.
My best friend grew up in the exact same environment. She naturally fit inside the box. Her relationship with God and her faith is completely different from mine. It's loving, whereas mine is hostile, because I just never fit. That box was just too small. And even though I eventually realized I could still be Christian without being in a box that small, my faith and my religion still bring me more anger and sadness than peace or love, because I'm still unlearning all the things those well meaning people taught me.
I wish I could have her faith. Just luck of the draw on personality and everything else. Things God can control and I couldn't. Like giving me an outstanding imagination, and interest in ideas that don't exist on this planet. Doesn't mean I can't have my faith because the fantasy genre interests and entertains me. Limited Christianity has no room for those things, because it's "obviously" of the devil. I don't worship things in that genre. I wasn't confused as a kid and thinking those things were real. I was a kid who needed room to go outside the safe tiny little corner of Christianity I was growing up in and let my brain have creative freedom outside of that. Being gently lectured or ordered not to watch this and not to read that, because God didn't approve? God had a chance to make my brain not crave a chance to be creative and inspired by those things. He didn't. And I believe he didn't because a strong imagination can be a huge gift, when understood and accepted. He made me, knowing what would be one of my strongest assets,
There's plenty of other examples. Just be careful, is what I'm saying. A lot of people need more room and freedom in their faith than the things in this video or comment section leaves available.

I can understand where you’re coming from and agree to some of what you said. As Christians, when we have children we are to raise them up in the way they should go. We have a lot of freedoms in Christ, so many freedoms, but there are lines we can’t cross. Sin is still sin. God created every human being, but because of this fallen world we have to be very careful of our desires and what we are naturally drawn to because since the fall, our hearts are deceitful and wicked as Jeremiah says in the Bible. That includes are desires. So many people say “God made me this way” in regards to their desires toward same sex attraction, but that’s absolutely not true, because that contradicts Gods Word. Our bodies, minds, and hearts are corrupted because of sin. With raising children, we all need to desperately come before the throne of God and ask for wisdom, for God says He will give it to us. We must do our best to raise children with the knowledge and wisdom we have, and also continue to seek it out. We must ask God how He wants us to parent the children He have us. There isn’t always a fine line of what to do and what not to do, but we do our best, we have an open hand and open heart. When they are very little, it is good to keep them from a lot more, and as they grow, we teach them that there is good and evil, we explain to them why we do what we do, we show them that we’re living for more than the short breath of this earth.

I had the opposite experience growing up and it was detrimental to me. Even as an adult I still get intrusive thoughts from the things my parents allowed us to watch and so I feel like what she says is right on point - rely on the conviction of the Holy Spirit. She even says multiple times in the video to not just take her convictions upon yourself - rely on your own relationship with God and what He says for you to do with your own children in your own home. So I would say seek God on this and just listen to Him instead of assuming she just is too strict, etc. It sounds to me like she’s just being obedient to what God has told her to do with her own family and so how can we say anything negative about that? As Christians, we should all be seeking Him for answers and be willing to keep on growing and being lead to be more like Jesus every day. Not judging another persons walk or personal convictions.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I’m really sorry for all you went through and the way religion and parenting affected you negatively. It’s helpful to hear both perspectives and to be aware as I raise my kids, to really seek to understand who God has made them to be and to love them uniquely, not pressuring them to fit a certain mold (especially as they are old enough to make their own decisions). I think what Milena and you shared both agree with the need for wisdom and seeking help from God, not relying on human understanding, because parenting is such a tightrope to walk and it’s hard navigating day to day decisions when you often don’t see the impacts till years later. Anyway, I just appreciate you taking the time to share your story!!

I get your rejection of "Churchians" who are fearful and small minded. But the church is falling because it is taking this "anything goes" hedonism stance. The glorification of the self is a quick and easy road to destruction. Christ yielded the bullwhip for a reason.

@@jessicadianne9065yes. 100%. My childhood was riddled with things that I wish I could unsee and truly I just want my children to get to see ONLY the beauty of the world God created as long as humanly possible. They are so little and I wish someone would have paid more attention to everything we saw and experienced. It is so damaging because it’s too heavy to carry when you’re SO young. To me it really is about giving them the BEST. Like why settle for letting things slip through the cracks? That will happen even with our most vigilant efforts so why help that along why not just be as mindful as we can and guard their hearts while we can? They will grow and learn before our eyes and soon enough it’ll be time to let them watch a more mature movie and by then the prayer is that they will have a strong foundation and we can talk them through some of those themes. Find the lies, discern with them and communicate about the world on a deeper level.

I’m not a momma at all, but this makes me appreciate my mom from sheltering certain things from me. My mom would be ADAMANT about not having Harry Potter, Twighlight, Halloween and other thing exposed to me and I used to think she was “doing too much”. But now as an adult knowing about witchcraft and demonic forces and especially how the enemy preys on children, I grew sooo much appreciation for what she has done. Trust and believe I am a testament of “train a child in the ways that they shall go”. Praise God truly for what you’re doing 🙏🏾

Same! I remember as a freshman in high school I was invited to a Halloween sleepover and my mom said I could go but couldn’t sleepover because she was concerned that they would pull out a ouija board. I thought she was silly but regardless I was picked up and my friend told me later that they did pull one out. She also was a no go on Harry Potter and I watched it as soon as I left the house and wondered why I hadn’t been able to watch it. But I loved what Milena said about equipping your kids to “discern what is good and evil” and it really stood out to me and I realized when I watched it as an adult, I then had the maturity to discern and filter what I would have completely absorbed as a child.

When we partner with demonic-inspired toys, books, movies or even events we are will billy letting our children play on thin ice, and it’s their future at stake. I’m so proud to see some young mothers go all Mama Bear, realizing the enemy is usually very subtle.
I believe your most excellent point Milena was that there is so much more God has for them. Immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
So often we labor over what they eat, like not eating ice cream all day. But guarding their ear gates and eye gates is equally important.
Praying for more blessings and revelation for you and yours. At the other side of a prayer is great reward.

Now, I am practicing loving and seeing others the way GOD sees them because I want to be a person each day & night. It is hard and sometimes I fall short, but i try again next day/encounter. NO WAY. This has been on my mind so heavily. I went to Disney World when I was a freshman in college. I thought it was so magical and heavenly. It filled me with serotonin. However, I have realized that Disney World is portrayed as our heaven here on Earth. Why would we want to go to heaven and meet God when we have all of these magical shows and this fun place here on earth? This was placed on my heart even more when I became an elementary music teacher and would play Disney for school parties. It’s filled with magic, idolatry, and self-worship. Not to mention that it teaches you to follow your heart (Jeremiah 17:9) and to rebel when your heart isn’t in something. I wondered if I was going crazy because I grew up on Disney and everyone else is watching it. But now I see that God is really warning us about it.

To add my two cents and a pinch of diversity to the comments, I think there is a lot more grey in life than Christians believe there is. I actually think that black and white thinking can be very dangerous. I think context is incredibly important and something may be bad in one scenario and not in another. And I think Milena thinks that too to an extent as she is graciously speaks of the way her religion has been making changes in her life, but that doesn't mean those listening have to do the same - a great example of the beautiful grey in life.

I looooved this video. even though I'm not a mom yet but this is exactly how I was raised. when you get older you just have the feeling inside you what's 'good or bad'. I love how you raise your children to have this sensitivity at a young age. thank you for beeing such an inspiration for so many. we are all learing along the way ☺
