The combination is so interesting, letting women from different backgrounds honor the queen of soul in their way because it's all about the music and sisterhood. I loved Christina performing
Whoever the Florence lady is, she has something special in her vocal cords. That vibrato is no joke.
She is Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine, she's the frontwoman of a band. She is a rockstar, modern legend in her field.
She MOSTLY does music right now that is . . . comparable to 70's rock? But she is insanely versatile and not afraid to blend genres.
Her most recent album has a folk song with spoken word and is a performance piece, has a disco track and very cinematic contemporary rock and baroque pop elements. Yet it's somehow still very cohesive.
IF you'd like to hear more " Soulful " music from her I recommend " Lover to Lover " and her cover of " Oh Darling " by The Beatles
Christina is one of the very best, her range and pitch are perfect..
I never get tired of this performance, people keep talking about who was the best, I think it's so stupid, they all were amazing, the energy, the happiness, the respect for each other. Also Christina was in one of the worst time of her career, and she was amazing.

Interesting that, this was her latest performance (and appearance) at the Grammys. Until this years she just showed up to present the award.

Talent does recognizes talent. Add Jennifer Hudson to this list. But Yolanda always encourages and support other singers, especially when they are younger. It is a part of her ministry.
I think that this video just shows how different female voices can be. Every single one of the performers brought a piece of aretha to the stage. And after watching all of them, I feel like they are really presenting a tribute to the queen of soul here. who cares which one hit the highes notes? Arethas music was about feeling it. And that is what they did.

have to say it: Martina McBride did a wonderful job, but she was severely outclassed by the other ladies. Florence is probably the most underrated singer there, she clearly lacked the years of vocal training compared to the others, but made up for it with raw talent; Christina does what she does best, pouring her heart and soul into every note; Jennifer looked so relaxed even while belting, so she's a natural; Yolanda definitely showed some spirit and her Gospel background shines through.
I totally disagree about Martina. She has one of the greatest, pure voices ever! She just doesn’t do the fluff!
The thing is, you don't "have to say it." You can choose to enjoy an amazing performance by 5 amazing singers and not turn it into American Idol.
