I know this is an quite old video.. i just had a doubt, regarding what if I want to copy only some elements? then how to paste it in another file? making them fit exactly in older manner?

Thank you for saving my butt. I deleted a bunch of columns and a bridge crane last night, but I made like a hundred back up files.
I brought all the columns and the crane in their own workplane, but I gave it a higher elevation in the model. Then I selected all the objects and changed their workplane. Last I deleted the workplane I pasted because it no longer had components associated with it.

Glad it helped! I know that panic feeling when working at night and things go wrong.

I think the main issue I am having is basically that the levels are different and that screws up, especially the stairscases. I tried making new level that follows the old file levels but unfortunaletly it doesnt work properly. There should be a way to enable staircases to be placed without any constraints.

If the levels are 'screwed up' you may consider adding new levels as needed. It may get a bit busy, but you now have actual levels that are correct to associate your stairs and produce the correct stair system.

Why does something so simple have ro be an ordeal with Revit?
What we all are really looking for is Autocad's 'WBlock' equivalent & easy to understand Insertion Point.
But Revit has to go out of it's way to wasye our time.

If you are looking for another option, you can use the Group command to create a "Wblock" (Write Block in AutoCAD). In the source file, create a group of the items you want to move. Once the group is created, highlight the group. You should see an option in the Ribbon Called 'LINK". Choose this command and Revit will prompt you to create a standalone RVT file of the objects in the group. Next open the project you want to add it to. Then use the INSERT TAB>'Add Revit Link' command to add the newly created file into the current project. If needed, use the BIND option to convert it back to a group in the current project. Even Ungroup it! Hope this helps.
