Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright are reacting to Ocean's Eleven for kids, The Bad Guys! They discuss why the bad guys never had a chance to be good but how they warm up to the idea of change for the better. Jono analyzes the trope of bad being cool and how the bad guys deal with fear, insecurity, denial, and self-loathing. And they both rave about how cool the animation is. This movie drips cool!

I love that they aren’t just forgiven at the end of the film, they’re not suddenly the good guys to society. They pay their dues, they accept responsibility for their actions and each make an active choice to be better.
That surprised me as well.
When the ending came around, I figured they’d do the “all is forgiven and well” but the way they subverted expectations was very well done.
Them taking responsibility for their actions made me appreciate the film much more.

@@violetbilodeau Her life and career would’ve been ruined. She had way more to lose than The Bad Guys did.
Hence why Wolf took the bullet for her.

@@violetbilodeau My guess is because The Bad Guys were wanted for a while, and the things they did were high profile.
Remember, there was that one turning moment scene when Diane didn’t go through with the heist when she was the Crimson Paw because all she saw was the “tricky fox”.
She then said from that moment on instead of hurting people, she was helping them.
I felt that scene inspired Wolf in a way.
The anthropomorphic animals are the stereotyped ones: the "monster" predators, the "sneaky" fox, and the "embodiment of goodness" guinea pig. The movie doesn't care about any other stereotypes, so everyone else is a human or an animal-proper. The only really weird one is Cuddles, Professor Marmalade's human helper, who I guess is like a reversal of the pet-owner relationship? Not sure on that one, he's just weird.
I think marmalade and his human(?) might be a metaphor for people who let their pets or children or toxic person they are close to go out of hand/control.
I think we just all try to repress Cuddles’ existence from our memory
lol Being a middle school teacher who has read (and loves) the whole series. While I LOVE all the interesting analysis this movie is getting, I think a lot of those kinds of decisions in the books can be summed up as "Because it's funny!" Which is, itself, also a totally legitimate reason for writing an awesome book series and making the choices that come up in it. It is an insanely imaginative and funny series. I will be surprised at how they adapt the rest into movie form...
That's a cool fact! Maybe the "bad guys" are also depicted as animals as a reference to classical storybooks, where the antagonists are literal antropomorphic animals living in a world of humans and normal animals? Like in "Little red riding hood", for example.
Like it really represents their characters not really what they actually are
One thing I'm surprised y'all didn't talk about was Snake saying I love you to wolf at the end. It's not often, that we hear platonic I love yous in media. It's something I really wish we got more of and should be normalized

Yeah it really isnt, especially between 2 men who arent blood related to each other. I think it's very important to depict platonic relationships between male friends where they can say "I love you" and be open with each other to give a good example to young boys and men who watch these movies.

Honestly, now that I think about this out of context, this is me with video games. XD Although, I cannot get past it. It's just not my thing. But it explains in a tremendous and straightforward description why so many others like them.
In the book series, everyone is an animal.

the arc is about snake getting superpowers and also getting possessed by a demon spoon that is targeting fox because shes a powerful being called the one so like litterally no sense lol
What I really enjoyed about the "anti-training montage" is that they weren't "failing" because they were bad or didn't know how to be good yet, it's because they were too used to messing with each other and giving each other shit. That and Marmalade's issues in that he knew how to "appear" good, not how to "be" good.
One detail about the 'good guy heist' is how Marmalade isn't really doing anything, he just leaves them to their own devices with silly costumes and the group have to figure everything out on the spot. It makes a good contrast to the REAL 'good guy heist' later on where Diane is willing to contribute and even initiate teamwork with everyone. It makes a good contrast with the characters, both are lone hustlers, but Diane at least wants to reach out to other people and has grown to appreciate others' agency and talents, while Marmalade is utterly self absorbed and sees allies as minions and chess pawns.
I love how you can see hints of Wolf's goodness even in the very beginning of the movie.
As the gang is gathering in the car for the first time, Shark, Webs, and Piranha all have something for Snake's birthday (or were supposed to - Piranha forgets his because he's loco). They never overtly say it, but you know Wolf was the one who planned that. As he and Snake first enter the bank, he holds the door for his slithering pal. In the diner, he passes the sugar to Snake with no audible prompting - Snake picks up his spoon and Wolf hands him the sugar he wants for his coffee.
Well, that's just natural right? He's being nice to his friend on his birthday. They have a long history together so he surely knows his buddy likes his coffee with a ton of sugar. So?
When the two of them are leaving the diner, Wolf politely asks for the check ("Could we get a check please? When you get a chance?"), leaves some money for their bill, and then reaches into his jacket a second time to put some extra cash in the tip jar. For the leader of a notorious gang of villains, he's awfully considerate. They're thieves - they certainly don't NEED to pay for anything, but he goes out of his way to do so AND has the consideration to leave some extra for their trouble.
As Mike from Better Caul Saul / Breaking Bad would say, "I didn't say you were a bad guy, I said you were a criminal."
He’s gonna pay for his food that’s not about being secretly good that’s about not getting caught and not making a scene where a scene isn’t necessary
Considering that "walking out on the check" is a real thing (my sister worked for yrs as a waitress) it would've been no great stretch if the Bad Guys tried to stiff the diner on the bill
...so the fact that Wolf clearly had every intention to pay for the entire bill *and* leave a tip for the waitstaff works as a hint, if not a conclusive giveaway, that at least Wolf isn't the total outlaw that he likes to portray himself as.

Honestly, they were creating a scene just by being there
The whole staff and customers were absolutely terrified not only because of their reputation, but just by the fact that they were "dangerous animals".
Given the situation, them walking out and not paying anything wouldn't have been suspicious. It would've been what was expected of people "like them"
The fact that Wolf makes the active decisions every time of not hurting innocents unnecessarily (most of the people they steal from are implied to be wealthy), and following most protocols with the exception of some laws really says a ton about Wolf as a character and hints at his motivations for becoming a "Bad Guy" ("this is what I am, and I act the way they treat me, according to what's expected of me")
I think Wolf's most significant redeeming quality all throughout the film is how he is leader. He makes stupid decisions at first and tends to rope his friends into dumb ambitions, but he's not the villainous tyrant boss or even much of a micro manager, he's friends with all his teammates and understands all their contributions and importance. For all his ego, he never thinks he's a one man system. I think the fact he is so close to the other Bad Guys and understands plays a LOT into the final act and how he is quickly able to turn them around with such a simple but relatable gesture. He also does his best to ingratiate Diane into the team.
When piranha said “we are gonna make it” It’s just funny 😭😂 I swear they casted Anthony perfectly with his natural chaotic and energy put into this character 🤌

damn that was a really great breakdown, but i really wished they had discussed / given more appreciation to Diane’s character.
Yes they did learn great morals from a conceited Professor Marmalade, but in the end it was Diane who affirmed Wolf about being good.
A scene that was integral to Wolf’s character development, was the part after Wolf lost his friends after breaking out of jail, and Wolf gets confused whether what he was doing was right. And Diane right there telling her background story + giving a speech about still being “me, but in the ‘right’ me” was such a great way to inspire and hence give the main character a solid moral compass. That, my friends, is the literal definition of feedin two birds with one scone. This movie really had great pacing and writing (if you, once again, ignore logic like how costumes work or why they’re the only anthropomorphic animals).
I agree. Her story also provided a good foil to Wolf's arc because of their different experiences with self-improvement.
As the Crimson Paw, Diane didn't have friends she worried about disappointing or losing. When she wanted to be better, she didn't worry about anyone's opinions holding her back.
Wolf on the other hand felt like he had to decide between a better life or his friends (which Marmalade reinforced), even though they weren't mutually exclusive.
Diane may not have understood Wolf's conflict until she learned more about him.
This interaction had a lot of material to be broken down, and Cinema Therapy would be a lot better at it than I am lol
She realizes that they're story is exactly the same as her story only one chapter behind.
@@Basheequa idk if you’re aware about the Loki series, but yeah the ship there is basically the same in the sense that two people are learning from each other but especially one is helping their moral compass because they’ve been through it before :) man i love these kinda fictional relationships where they are able to relate and help each other out
@@justagecko It gives this sad impact to her speech earlier "Don't do it for them, do it for YOU". Good advice, but you can tell that's been Diane's one drive. Wolf doesn't do it totally for him, he does it for Diane and so he doesn't screw up his friends' redemption. I love Diane's blatant excitment around Wolf throughout the scenes at the Gala and in her lair. This is her getting a real friend at last. The ending where she tries to confess to help the Bad Guys and they take the fall for her is also impactful in this regard. She has gained loyalty to other people and in return they 'adopt' her into the group.
Really Diane, despite going in and out of the plot, is one of those characters that has LOADS of nuances the more you look at her scenes and how she bounces off the other characters. Like I love how she starts off genuinely good, but clearly a bit superficial about it, basing it off a good public persona and taking out the city's trash. She's maybe learned a bit too much from Marmalade in trying to become a 'good' person. When Wolf bursts her bubble and calls her a hypocrite, it feels impactful to this direction, more than he actually realises. She can't just act 'good', she has to be a good influence. I suppose it's a bit of Megamind's 'Nice vs Good' thematic again, just Diane proves to be a fast learner.
This development works with Diane since she's implied to be a lonely character who has worked alone her whole life, she thus bases things off individual contribution, she still feels the need to defend her legacy as the Crimson Paw even. A lot of early scenes feel like her personality brimming through her facade, her begging to brag or chat with someone about who she really is. Reaching out to someone properly gives her a confident, and they give her MORE confidents. She has a team at last.
Really Diane impresses me in just how easily she could have been this insufferable Mary Sue type character; best bad guy, best good guy, no flaws or weaknesses, everyone listens to her, got away with everything, all that sort of crap. But she actually gets a ton of nuances through brevity and her 'so different yet so similar' chemistry with Wolf is adorable. She's super likeable.
I loved this movie SO much. It was just a huge amount of fun packed into every second. Zootopia meets Oceans 11.

I was not expecting that movie to be that deep. Death was actually really terrifying. I was very impressed.

I'd never heard of this movie until a couple of months ago when I had to babysit my 5yo niece for two weeks. Like, I hadn't even been at her house for more than five minutes before she was dragging me to the couch because she was so excited to share this movie with me. Had to click the second I realized you guys were reviewing this movie. It's not my favorite, but it's hers, and that makes it special 🐺🐍🦈🐡🕷🦊♥️

My take is that the animals in the film aren't actually animals, but that the animals represent the archetypes that the characters fulfill.

One thing I loved about the background of both Snake and Wolf in the comics is exactly the explanation on why they act like bad guys and later on went to become criminals
Snake in the comics is only like one year older than Wolf, if I remember correctly. But he was bullied throughout elementary thanks to the bias people have on snakes. One day, Wolf showed up acting all menacing and terrifying - and made Snake's bullies go away.
Snake thought Wolf would actually be like that. That he had only shooed his bullies because Wolf wanted to become the new tormentor for Snake. But it was actually the opposite.
Wolf couldn't stand seeing other kids making fun of someone over something they couldn't control, like the animal they were born as. He decided to help Snake because he had been in the same position years ago.
So he decided to teach Snake how to scare people away, so they wouldn't mess with him anymore. They had to learn to be bad to survive.
However, none if them were actually bad. Wolf had always been a very gentle and caring soul, someone who liked to help, but had to hide behind that "bad guy" façade for so long that he had lost himself in it. Until Diane came along, turned his world upside down, and he decided to start changing for the better. To be himself, but in the right path.
Snake obviously felt hurt. How was it possible that the one who had teached them that being bad was the only way out now wanted to change and suddenly be good!?
And their conflict starts from there.
I loved how when Wolf was pretending to be good they gave him the wolf disguise tropes. Old lady from little red riding hood, sheeps clothing. Been a minute since I watched it so I cant remember if there's others. Lots of great use of established symbolism and allegories in this movie.

@@CinemaTherapyShow btw have you considered that they are animals in place of humans because they symbolize different aspects of being bad? Spiders spin webs to make traps. Snakes are considered to be uncaring. Wolves are vicious. Piranhas are considered man eating. And sharks are terrifying monsters that strike from the depths of the sea. And these all play into their characterization. Shark is the master of diguise and spider instead of litteral webs works using the world wide web and hacking for example. Just figured you would find that interpretation interesting and make the bonkersness of it make more sense.
It also doesn’t make sense the way Snake’s teeth rapidly shift between sharp and pointed, human teeth, and just snake fangs in one shot. For some reason I couldn’t help but notice it every time.
This was totally a deviation from the books though… in the books they are all animals (according to my 9yo son who has read all the graphic novels and waits impatiently for each new one to come out)
I also like this movie, and I’ve seen it at least 8 times 😂 I did think it was confusing that the rest of the characters are human and there are some different animation effects in this movie, so I’m glad they talked about it 😂
I didn't realize the "fake being good till you actually become good" was an uncommon (or less common) story thread, because I often use it writing rehabilitation arks for either villans or social outcasts that have a negative light on society (idk how to explain it but basically anyone who dosent seem to follow the "normal" moral code) I use it for my own stories and stuff I make for dnd and back when I used to make fanfics for mha and stuff I used it there to, didn't know it wasent extremely popular

Redemptions is a VERY common trope in Eastern stories, specifically from the areas of modern day China, Japan and Korea. I first noticed it in the 1990s when my generation became obsessed with everything Japanese. Then in college I took a few literature classes that focused on ancient Eastern texts and stories. It almost felt like the Eastern version of "and they both lived happily ever after." Every story had a "and the villain is redeemed" section.
I think my favorite story was one of an "evil" spirit (the translation said "demon" but my professor said that was a gross overstatement of what these beings actually were) who comes across a woman working in the fields and falls in love with her instantly. He soon learns, however, that she is kind and pure of heart and would never love a creature like him. So, he sneaks into a near by temple and steals a mask representing a "good" spirit (translation said "saint" and my professor just groaned) and wears it every time he goes to speak with the woman. As he spends more and more time with her, he wears the mask for longer and longer until he never takes it off. On the day of their wedding, one of the villagers accuses the spirit of being an evil spirit hiding behind a mask. The other villagers demand the spirit remove the mask and threaten violence to the woman if he does not. So he takes the mask off to reveal he has changed into the good spirit. The villagers are ashamed of themselves and let the couple leave in peace.

The little montage after you said “and then spiderverse happened…” and some of my favorite animated features that are full of creativity and artistry that has fully revamped my faith in animation thriving outside of things like Disney and Pixar- it just makes me so happy. Artists are fighting back and thriving.

I watched it. I don’t totally hate it. I actually like it. There’s some subtlety. I just think they didn’t NEED to make another one. I like the second half more than the first. And as ironic as it is, as someone who loves musicals, it felt like a jukebox musical (reminded me of that Cinderella remake), I just feel like that the characters all burst into song wayyy too abruptly.

That would be a great one! Good recommendation! (And people should watch Matilda anyway, it's adorable, well cast, well acted, and funny. Nothing horrified me more as a 10 year old than the Trunchbull, what a great villain for kids.)
I love how when the old lady is talking to Wolf, you can see the whiskers eluding to it being Marmalade. At least upon rewatching it, that's what I get out of it.
I love how unabashedly fun this movie is. It's absurd, wild, fun, and it jumps the shark so many times. Even better, it's got a good heart. Such a comfortable watch.

From a realistic standpoint this world doesn't make sense, but I really do take it as symbolism through art. What I mean is the Bad Guys are animals because they're evil, so others don't see them as human but as animals. I think it's a lil clever and to not be overthought just enjoyed 😂😅

True, that symbolism works as well. It’s also easy to understand what each animal represents. Foxes are usually seen as tricksters, snakes are seen as cold and cunning, a lot of people fear shark attacks even if sharks don’t care much for human, etc. We associate different animals with different things, and it’s easy to play around with human biases and address it in a movie without needing to explain the connotations.
I think the way they animate is very unique because of the heavy use of strong pose-to-pose animation.
So like they draw their characters in multiple strong poses, then have the in-betweens be only a few frames transitioning from each pose, which gives it a very stiff, comic book feel to everything.

well yes but it's also the more graphic style. As a 2D artist I can't say anything about how they would have achieved this effect, but I can say that the thicker outlines on the expressions, the graphic elements onscreen like when they're moving fast you can see some motion blur (from what I remember) thats in a way where its like white spikes, and the introductions to each character it feels like a mix between a comic and also something straight out of a video game called Borderlands.

That is a series though and a pretty long one too and you HAVE to go through it all to see Zuko's amazing growth so I doubt they'll be able to do it sadly 😢
At one point, I think they mentioned that it was highly requested, the ATLA series, but it is too long for them. It think that talked about it in the Arcane video.

If you’ve seen the video essays others have done of Zuko already , it’s a lot to cover , so I would understand if they don’t cover it on cinematherapy because there’s so much amazing Rich and raw material that can go anyway .
… Now Azula, his sister , that’s also a very interesting Villain’s story 🧐…. She’s not necessarily villain but you also do feel sorry for her because she’s not really learning anything, just expects things based on past treatment. And that’s why learning about your childhood / trauma helps you grow, kids : you are not a little kid anymore so , as a teenager /adult/little kid growing to not be a kid anymore, , you HAVE to let it go and be into your adulthood.

Even young adults characters (and little kid characters ) on that TV show had that development growth and struggle to learn. Not only rare to see a platform of all age groups working together, but a cast where most of the characters are female, if not equal , to instill unity,
the essence of four elements.

I haven't finished watching this movie- But I LOVE it. But PLEASE, please please PLEASE do Klaus! It's one of me and my mom's favorite movies and there's a lot there to unpack. Alvas, Klaus, and Jesper's story, there's a lot to unpack there in all of it.
I love that movie! I was so giddy when I saw a short snippet of it in the examples.
My boyfriend and I watch it religiously at least once every december since it came out.
I love Klaus. One of the best Netflix movies ever, which are very few and far between.
Klaus is just there on my shelf of "Animation movie with unusual 3D but 2D artstyle", along with Bad Guys, and Puss in Boots Last Wish.
It was such a pretty and moving movie right!

"Sometimes we lose friends along the way" really got me in the gut. In 2020, my friendship with my best friend of 15 years ended. I was tired of being their therapist, listening to them conplain about money problems, their weight, their family, their relationships. I had my own issues and I started to feel the weight of it all. While I was sympathetic and always tried to help, I was becoming fatigued and was not being heard. Constantly they would ask for advice and I would console them about their gf until finally I said "either get therapy or break up" and I don't think they liked that. I would get ghosted for weeks on end. Finally when the friendship ended, I blocked them on social media and had a good cry. We had a pattern of just complaining about our lives and not doing anything about it. It really, really sucked when it ended, but I wanted to better myself. I went back to college, got my degree, I am a supervisor at my job and I've gotten closer to the friends that got me through that rough patch. I still think about the years we spent together, but I wanted to grow and feel better and she did not. There was a point where I considered her my sister, so I couldn't recognize how the toxic the water was around me until she was gone. I love this channel, you always manage to make me think about films so deeply and relate it to my own life.
I'm sorry to hear that. I had somethin' similar happen to me with my ex-Fiance'. I was becoming a crutch for her, but I loved her away, so I held her up, despite how toxic she was becoming after her family was fallin' apart. Anyway, I'm glad you got outta that and are finding friends that won't tax your mind so extensively that it begins to break you under the pressure. It hurts when someone you love dearly, be it friend or lover, doesn't want to grow n' change, n' you... have to let them go and move on without 'em.
This really spoke to me. I had a similar situation with my cousin, except that the outcome was different. We didn't have anyone else to talk to, so we just spilled everything we felt and thought to each other and complained about how desolate we felt and how horrible everything was, but the more we did it, it was starting to be draining. I didn't know how to deal with that, so I just continued trying to reach her with my feelings, but it was becoming clear to me she was starting to detach herself from them. But it changed when she suddenly started being extremely blunt and told me to get my sh*t together. It was kind of a blow, but I started adapting to that, and that's the best change I've ever had in my life. Now it's just the both of us leading extremely honest lives, no matter how hurtful the truth is, we just say it, and it's so freeing. I'm so sorry it wasn't the same for you, but if it wasn't going to work, then it just would've hurt all the way through. I'm glad you were able to let go of someone so special to you when you needed to let them go.
As an animation student I really loved the work put in this movie. There is a lot of stretch and squash and the emotions (via body language) are so well said.

The "pop" in animation is usually called snapping. It's a lot of fun to make and it looks good when you use it for extremes like landing poses, large movements, or intense emotions
When I was a little kid I tried to scare everyone away because I was going through a lot. So I really relate to characters who are intimidating to hide insecurity

Wolf's stunned face after accidentally helping the old lady reminds of how that episode where Lucifer from the Fox/Netflix show "Lucifer" felt a "rush" after unknowingly doing something nice for Decker and getting her appreciation for it.
The animation and design reminded me of the Crash Bandicoot PS1 game. Also as an Aussie, I found Jonathon's "New Australian" accent was hilarious 🤣

The thing that really impressed me about this movie was how they managed to bring the original artstyle into motion witout compromising any of the little things that made it work. You have to love a work to adapt it this well.

I think the ‘Pop’ Alan is describing is the use of keyframes with very little to no in-betweens which make everything move super quick and choppy.
Posing is a very important animation principle so even though I didn’t work on the movie, it’s so refreshing to hear someone acknowledge how small things in poses give SO much.
(It’s also most likely the eyes were done with a special rig built for this, with shading rules for them so light interacts with them differently to get that flat look. Basically just smart creative people doing smart creative things. (My head hurts looking at these rigs oh my god it’s obnoxious in the best way)

This reminds me so much of the saying, “you learn who your real friends are after you have kids”, and how much I’ve always hated that. (You can substitute having kids for any big life change) People change when they have kids. Priorities change. Maybe they change in a way that moves them onto a path that you don’t want to go onto yourself, and that’s okay! But why should that devalue the friendship that was there? Growth is good, but it sometimes means growing apart, which is hard, but it’s only hard because the friendship was real. It hurts when you’re grieving what the relationship once was, but grief is love persisting.
I unfortunately have not seen the movie yet, but I was "love-shocked" when I saw the tarantula in a trailer. I'm an entomolgist/arachnologist, I LOOOOOOOVE spider and had a tarantual of my own. I just thought "cool! cute! was about time to have a tarantula as animated character in a promising movie". Would totally have needed that as a kid!
Now I just want to see the piece all the more.

I’ve struggled with the concept of possibly growing away from somebody who’s friendship you have relied upon for a long time. In my early 30s, I’ve had a seismic shift in my values and have recognized that I have a lot of changing and growing to do in order to be a better spouse and the most present parent I can be. And I’ve been working a lot toward it!
But it’s unfortunately come at the cost of friendships that I had expected would be lifelong. Friends who have not grown or have grown in a very different direction. It’s been painful and hard. But I’m also forging new friendships that are healthy and mutually supportive, even as I miss the friendship I once had with my best friend.
Really appreciate this episode. And what a fun movie Bad Guys was.

I do believe that these animals; the bad guys, are only perceived as bad guys. Sure there are occasions where they do attack humans, but mostly, they do help keep the population of other animals in check and mostly attack if provoked.

Just finished watching this movie, and the style, flair and energy of the animation had me grinning ear-to-ear the entire time. The character design language is one giant homage to early Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragon Ball) and the film as a whole is a love letter to classic Lupin III. I could basically feel the excitement all the animators and designers must've felt in alluding to their inspirations with this movie.
As an ENFJ i relate so much to Alan and the amazing friendship with his INFP Jonathan. You guys, so kind and passionate, are the best internet/TH-cam Dads we could have! Loved this episode!
What I love about this movie most is just the use of 2D smears in a 3D world and it makes it pop more. I also adore all the dynamic posing that makes it that much more dramatic.
I love this movie so much 😭 not just cuz of the story but it's so original art style wise! DreamWorks always goes super out, and almost never disappoints
I’m not sure if everything DreamWorks makes is a masterpiece, but when they get it right, they get it right.
I also thought the art style was very unusual, but definitely cool. Like how the eyes/facial features are so sharp/bright and defined, but the rest of their bodies are soft and shaded.
We also joked how particularly the snake, would go from having just 2 fangs, to having a full set of human teeth XD

The big reason the animation is so "snappy" and they stick to the bigger poses is because the animators took out so many of the in-betweens in the frames between each key pose ~ as for the drawn-on line work, they used a separate application for that :D they've talked about it in a couple of interviews
I had to cut a lot of people out of my life when I fought through alcoholism and drug addiction. I told them they had to either walk the path with me or be left behind. Many of them never forgave me for abandoning them. It took some a long time to get why I had to do it. When they figured it out, they apologized for being pissed off at me.

The comic book look of this flick is so refreshing. Instead of being dark and gritty, it's more like old school Looney Tunes, zany and eye catching.

Every movie related channel I follow, I always want a "I really wanna do this movie but can't cuz X", with most channels probably putting "it wouldn't be an interesting episode" for X.
Love will shine through. And if you know how to make a point, it's hard not to get swept up as a viewer. And for followers of a channel, we're already invested and can appreciate the personal touch (for the algorithm I'd say it motivates our involvement).
I have never listened so closely to Stuckmann as when he talked about his family's faith. Or to Mista GG as when he reviewed a movie he used to watch with his dad, sneaking in a "this movie isn't fun bad, but I always wanted a reason to do this, to show my dad how much I loved those moments. But I kept putting it off and off and now it's too late so screw the algorithm, this one's for me"

17:35 I like to think that Snake was made to spit a lot for 2 reasons: First, he has no limbs to gesticulate angrily with, even though he uses his tail like a hand to point around and can even "cross his arms." So they made him more expressive by making him "spitting mad," as the phrase goes.
Secondly, there are some snakes that can spit/shoot venom into the eyes of their attackers. Spitting cobras' venom is adapted a bit differently than other snakes' to cause more pain (different proteins in the venom that interact with the nerves they touch, especially in the eyes) than snakes who mainly rely on biting. Spitting cobras CAN bite, but spitting their venom is their signature move and many can shoot it accurately up to 2 meters/6 feet away. The venom causes INTENSE pain and sometimes blindness by eating away the cornea. Yikesssssssss! 🐍😉

I'm with Alan on this 100%. I think they hit an absolute density of coolness in this movie. Somebody just woke up one day and was like how much coolness can we pack into an animated movie that makes no sense. Coolness coolness coolness

I love the energy between Wolf and Police Lady (can't remember name) having the same energy as the anime Lupin III.
I feel like them being animals is a metaphor for how people perceive them. For instance, when we think of wolves, piranhas, sharks, snakes, and tarantulas, we usually associate them with being scary. On the other hand, when we think of guinea pigs, we envision them as cute and cuddly. Foxes are similar to wolves, but many people view them as more elegant or refined. Each animal represents its reputation, which is why the creators portrayed them that way. Well, that's just my interpretation anyway.
When it comes out on home media I really hope that you guys cover Puss in Boots 2, and the struggle between trust and fear.

I think the reason the main characters are all talking animals and not human or a full animal is because it's like a physical representation of their character, as we as people tend to generalize characteristics for animals, and since these guys are *bad guys*, they're portrayed in a negative light, and with what is considered as negative or harmful animals. Just a thought.

The wagging tail reminds me of the bluey episode (duck cake) because she understood that doing good and helping others makes them feel good which makes you feel good and how that's a reward in it's own right especially when you do good without expecting something in return. For bluey her tail wagged each time she decided to something good because making others feel good made her feel good.

Stop cutting me so deeply! Cripes! Between this, Spider-verse, and Scrooge, you are just hitting ALL of the things that I'm struggling with right now, and it isn't fair! In all honesty, though, I really do appreciate it XD It has really been helping me put a lot of things into a context that I'll be able to talk with my own counselor about.
In this case, it's the sense of "are they honoring your change?" And, honestly, I've been fighting to adapt to the changes that have come with my MS, and the ongoing fight is one of "why aren't you the person you were when we got together? Why can't you just go back to that?" At the end of the day... I'm having to rebuild a new me, and the fact that they've been fighting me every step of the way in that effort has left me... just kind of having to do it on my own, as much as I've tried to engage them in that capacity. And now... the new me isn't what they want. I tried to give them the ability to be part of creating the new me, but... they just didn't have the time or mental energy for that, and instead just... went chasing their own priorities and their own projects to the point where now... we're pretty much just roommates.
I was haunted by the finale of Arcane recently. Jinx's whole "I used to think that you could love me the way you used to. But you changed too." Except... that's not quite right. It's more... that they've stayed stuck in their own pain as I've struggled and fought to grow. So. Here's to the new us.
Yeah, I just recently had to break up with someone due to them not wanting to put in the effort to change/improve with me, so I feel your pain and hope things get better for you!

If anything, I'm more sad for their parts that they... aren't able to move forward, themselves. But I can't make them change. I can only take responsibility for myself. Besides, with how they've handled things for a while now... they've been thinking that it is my responsibility to rebuild trust with them... but they've just completely shattered my trust in them.
The movie is basically oceans 11 mixed with fantastic Mr fox... Just without George Clooney 😂. Love it nonetheless, and Would love to see a video on fantastic Mr fox!

Fun fact, as mentioned on the IMDB page; the human character designs and the overall movement animation style was based on the long-running Lupin III anime series and series of movies (most of which are animated, with one specific exception). Besides being a long-lasting franchise in Japanese media, it's other claim to fame is the original Lupin III TV show from the 70's is where Hayao Miyazaki got his start; the franchise still uses his core character designs, and The Bad Guys takes deep inspiration (read: copies) that same style for their human characters.
On a side note, I highly recommend watching all of the films, any one one of them could be excellent fodder for this show.
Speaking on animation, y'all HAVE to do a reaction to Puss In Boots whenever you can! Such great characters and animation and explores some darker themes that you'd have a great time talking about
So, a lot of the stylization seems to be coming from Lupin III. The movement is very similar, especially to the one released in 1979, and even Wolf’s body type. I would definitely say you would like that if you enjoyed this.

3:10 to Yuma is one of my favorite movies i would absolutely watch a villan therapy on Ben Wade. Its so good and his arc from beginning to end is such a great character growth.
I love every single second of this movie. Logically it's not perfect, but everything about this movie felt like it was made for my brother and me. We love hist movies, animals, snappy dialogue, dynamic duo's, fast paced cartoony animation, etc. I showed it to him over Christmas and now it one of our favorites. We even do the "go bad or go home" with each other. Glad you guy took the time to go over it because the conflict between wolf and snake is something we both noticed and admired.
