    haha the ghost photos are really good. :D 7:42 has such great colours and the glasses with it. wonderful. you really don't see the fungus. you might only see some of it when you look at the glow in the night shots. I've been wanting a 124g for a while now. 130$ for it is a real steal. 👌

      Thank you so much!!! Yeah I was really surprised that the fungus didn’t really show up. It kind of just looks like there’s a quarter pro must on the lens which I don’t mind lol you should try to get your hands on a TLR they’re really fun!

    Great video man, dope shots really creative. I absolutely loved the shots at 5:17, 6:00 & 7:07 ! My neighbor has a mat 124G as well and apparently it also has the fungus problem.
    Keep up the amazing work 🤍

    Most recent pickup was a mint Canon P I got 2 weeks ago. I hold you partly responsible for that - your review video put it on my radar. I already had a Jupiter 8 to use with it. However yesterday I bought from a guy in my neighbourhood a Voigtlander color skopar 35/f2.5 ltm lens - and it looks and feels great on the Canon P.

    What light meter app do you use?

  • @oilyrag525
    @oilyrag525 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you can find the Yashica lens hood too that will aid image quality in appropriate lighting conditions. Methinks you are lucky to find one with a fully working shutter and timer, and that didn't need collimating either..

    • @ReimannPembroke
      @ReimannPembroke  ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI - The "G" in the newer iteration of the Mat 124 stands for "Gold" - referencing the battery contacts being gold plated. Other than that, you are correct that all other differences are purely cosmetic.
    FWIW - The early 1970's saw the introduction of "black cameras" from most manufacturers, and Yashica was no exception. For quite a few years a black body would actually cost more than the chrome version. The trend to all black bodies still continues today, with the opposite sometimes taking place - some companies now offer "vintage looking" chrome bodies on special models.
    That said, I agree whole-heartedly that the Mat 124 is more aesthetically attractive than the all black G version.

    • @ReimannPembroke
      @ReimannPembroke  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah I forgot about the gold contacts! The regular “non-G” version is a great camera and it’s worth it to save the money and get one of those instead of a 124G

    • @mhc2b
      @mhc2b ปีที่แล้ว

      Again I agree. But...the only possible issue would be simply that the non-G cameras are older, which may be of concern to some buyers. KEH, who I frequently buy from currently has a very mintish non-G for $499. Consider yourself lucky with the one you have for $130!!
      My only real issue with either version is that the focusing screen leaves a lot to be desired - grainy, and not very bright. Which, BTW, is another difference between the two - the non-G screen has (I believe) 3 criss-cross red lines, whereas the G has only two criss-cross red lines.

  • @mathiasavp
    @mathiasavp ปีที่แล้ว

    Just got the camera myself and I love it!
    I may be a little late, but while I watched I noticed the gas mask you where using, and you might be doing yourself harm by using it. Old surplus gas mask filters contain chromium and/or asbestos. It can be downright lethal to use it for longer periods of time.
    If you google ''filtered danger the dangers behind gas mask'', you will see a chart with the different gas masks and what they contain.
    But that aside, great video and great camera!

    • @ReimannPembroke
      @ReimannPembroke  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and for the warning! Maybe I can find a different filter for it lol

  • @contaxpaulharrison942
    @contaxpaulharrison942 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Fungus on the taking lens is a quite common issue on the 124G, if there is not much of it it might be worth getting it cleaned off.

    • @ReimannPembroke
      @ReimannPembroke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I will either get it cleaned or try to clean it myself sometime soon. If I clean it, I'll make a how-to video
