    Our state OCS land nav was late at night. We had a lake in the way of our course line. We sent one of our squad members out to the other side of the lake. He shined his L-shaped flashlight at us, and we moved him left and right by light signals until he was on the course line. Then we hooked up with him on the other side of the lake and continued the course. The TAC officers were not amused. Good times!

    I was at the Phase 1 you used in your thumbnail. June 2019. That’s CPT Coy from FL and he hated me. I’m now at FABOLC at Ft Sill ready to graduate in 1 month.

    I'm going into state ocs in January. It is now 8 months instead of 18. Phase 1 and 3 are still 2 weeks but phase 2 is now 6 months, 4 days/month.

    I’m in VA and looking closely at National Guard 09s path. I understand there is a longer “state OCS” compared to the “federal OCS.” How can I learn more about the differences? Is one better than the other in terms of content? Is some perceived to be better in quality?

    Great info, picking up an 09s contract for the guard. About how much time do you spend (apart from daily PT and studying) in OCS during the month? Or week and weekends?

    • @ColeAlanFF
      @ColeAlanFF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends if you are in leadership that month or not. If you are...10-20 hours. If not...0 besides for studying for tests and prepping gear! Overall not bad.

      @@ColeAlanFF Thanks for the reply. Just gauging if I'll have time for a part time job and school while I complete it. Hopefully signing the contract this week. Cheers!

    I'm finding conflicting info online. I'm from Washington state and from what I can find for Washington is that State (traditional) OCS takes place at Camp Murray and Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA and is taught by the Regional Training Institute (RTI). Soldiers meet one weekend per month for 18 months plus one two week period each summer. It sounds to me like you started off with 2 straight weeks of training in stead of the one weekend a month thing. Is this a state difference or what?

    • @ColeAlanFF
      @ColeAlanFF  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      States may be slightly different but yes in my state it was as you described!

    I work out frequently but having gone through Phase 1 yourself is their anything specifically you would recommend doing for exercise to be ready for that Phase?

    • @ColeAlanFF
      @ColeAlanFF  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would do some rucks wearing your boots. Try to identify where you get blisters or hot spots so you can be prepared to moleskin those areas.

      To get into accelerated OCS it is really state dependent. I was from MOARNG and our state was able to send 15 pax my year. My OCS CO required a score of 80 in every category of the APFT.
