I love this feature of YNAB that allows you to test out a budget and see what works! Testing out a budget is actually a fun thing for me 😅
I would also include in this car registration, YNAB renewal (if that's not already included in Subs) and something for emergencies, both for yourself and for your pet. I think you currently have a pretty good emergency fund but, speaking as someone who doesn't have one, if you don't and you're going to a super tight budget, you want to make sure to have some back up funds.
I love the idea that someone mentioned below of trying out the budget before making a commitment. I really hope you're able to make this work and relieve the stress, whatever you decide. ❤

I definitely hear you on thinking about other life paths! You're so not alone. I love YNAB as it helped us figure out that we can live on my income for a few months when we welcomed baby #2. I love playing around on YNAB with what if scenarios.

Ideas: You could try to find a less stressful full time job or maybe 2 part time jobs (20 hours each). The barista and library job sound less stressful and it would give you a change of pace day to day so it’s not the same thing non stop. I’ve considered this when my youngest starts school. Or even if one is 25 hours and the other 10 hours.
Right now you could try to live off your mock budget to see if it’s feasible before switching.
Oh and your Avery improvement fund saved as a target balance so it wasn’t added to the underfunded so you’ll have to add another $100 to that total. Hope some of these ideas help get you thinking 💭 See you soon

Thanks for the tip on the Avery improvement fund 🤦‍♀️ and I like your idea of potentially two part time jobs. That would help financially and also with keeping things interesting on a day to day basis. Thanks for always being so thoughtful Angel ✨😊

Thank you for sharing these important thoughts, even if you weren't sure how they would be received. I've keenly considered leaving the practice of law this year for similar reasons.
FYI, YNAB is actually look for a part-time product specialist, which may be of interest given everything you shared here.

I bet working in Law can be draining! I hope you are able to find a balance that works for you and your life.
And I will look into the YNAB role, thanks 🙏 😊

I have a SUPER stressful job and I’m seriously considering taking a 1 year sabbatical. I’m thinking the same as you like are we really meant to just work work work and that’s it. Life has to be more meaningful than that.

If you can take a sabbatical I think that would be amazing and so restful. I’m hoping to take one myself at some point in my life.
And I completely agree, it is so hard to strike a balance between living your life and working to support your life 😩

At my job, we have up to a year to request to move back to our previous position. You wouldn't think of going back to your old position?

That is a nice benefit! (? Is that what to call it? Lol) Unfortunately nothing like that exists in my role, although I have sometimes dreamed about it 😭 would certainly make things a lot simpler
