Its still good to play D2. Just you will miss more lore than veteran players will understand. Just watch videos on D1's story and im pretty sure you can put the plot in order.

you could play D2 or watch videos, but you will not get to experience it by yourself if you do that and I can asure you the experience is totally worth it.
My recomendation avoid seeing the lore for now and experience it, Guardian...

Me too, Peter did a far better job with the line "Where's his Ghost?" Than Nolan. No offense to Nolan an iconic VA, but just in my opinion not suited for being The Ghost. I would really wish for them to rehire Peter as the Ghost, but knowing how much work they'd have to do and how much it would cost them, (even though I know everyone at Bungie wouldn't have to work for several generations) they won't do it.
